Oh no @Scoobydoobydo those turbines - I can see some from my window in the distance and imagine them like mechanical triffids ready to creep up and kill us all

DareDevil223 · 06/06/2020 23:33

@babynoname23

Crisps terrify me especially empty packets. I can't be in the same room as someone eating them
I wish crisps terrified me, I'd certainly be thinner...
50shadesoflunacy · 06/06/2020 23:33

Crumbs on the worksurface or underfoot and fridge smells. Even freakier if it's someone else's fridge.

managedmis · 06/06/2020 23:34

God yes open stairs for me too

Curly stairs also, awful

NervousInYorkshire · 06/06/2020 23:34

@sooveritalready

Mince. Can't relax for a moment eating it, get fat or gristle suddenly. Only touch veggie mince
Yes to this
NothingIsWrong · 06/06/2020 23:35

@TodayIHaveGotThis buttons for me as well. Since I was tiny. I've never owned a cardigan with buttons and school shirts were a daily battle.

Clymene · 06/06/2020 23:35

Tin cans (when you've taken the kid off), spiral staircases and metal grid staircases, unglazed crockery.

Oh god unglazed crockery is the worst.

Gwenhwyfar · 06/06/2020 23:35

I don't like seeing people eating fruit in public.

Blankiefan · 06/06/2020 23:36

Anything made of terracotta. It makes me shudder

Dontsayyouloveme · 06/06/2020 23:37

It’s not an item it’s a noise... when cars or motorbikes go ‘razzing’ past full pelt! Gives me the fucking rage!! I have to shout out loud, to myself mostly!

0blio · 06/06/2020 23:38

I hate to see black and white tiled floors, especially if the tiles are quite big. Goodness knows why.

GarlicMcAtackney · 06/06/2020 23:39

-Puddles of water near swimming pools that has dripped off crotches.
Children
-Signet rings make me think ‘paedo who is a freemason’
-Men with grey moustaches
-Photos from the 80s
-When your fingernail gets bent back from far down the nail and stays that way
-a spoon getting stuck, upside down in the roof of your mouth, making all your upper teeth fall out
-driving beside a big drop/cliff
-seeing a kid running with a lolly stick in its mouth

HalfBrick · 06/06/2020 23:43

Well this is fascinating, I'm agreeing to 70% of this stuff - especially signet rings. How has this stuff infiltrated our minds and weirded us out? What IS is this phenomenon ?

HalfBrick · 06/06/2020 23:44

And the people weirded by kitemark/MOT logos I agree, so simple but something amiss.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 06/06/2020 23:45

I also have an issue with spades/shovels as I imagine the sound it makes being dragged along a path.It goes through me.

babynoname23 · 06/06/2020 23:47

@DareDevil223 unfortunately I'm not scared of chocolate, sweets, pizza etc Grin

DareDevil223 · 06/06/2020 23:49

My son had the aversion to stickers when he was young too.

I also hate that section of the M5. I live near it so have to drive it fairly often. Dh drives in the outside lane on the upper carriageway and I am obsessed he is going to veer off. I would never drive in the outside lane in that section.

Actually I realise I have a bit of an aversion to crash barriers now I think about it. Intrusive thoughts I mean, that I will deliberately drive into one.

Also obsessed about trapping my feet in open staircases.

TheChosenTwo · 06/06/2020 23:53

Submarines. Okay, perhaps not an everyday item but I’ve seen them in dry docks and the sight of them make me heave. So big, dark, menacing... just the idea of them turn my stomach!

LuluJakey1 · 06/06/2020 23:55

Very wide staircases. There is one in a car park in Durham that leads into a shopping centre. I can't walk down the stairs. The first time DH and I went, I didn't realise at first and about 6 steps down I had a sort of panic and had to sit down on the stairs and then I could not stand up. I crawled back to the top and we had to go another way out in a lift.
I have the same reaction to stairs that I can see more than a few feet over the side of .
It's really embarrassing but I just lose the ability to stand up and move. It has happened since I was a child.

ShowPicturesOfLifeNotDeath · 06/06/2020 23:56

Alexa.

LuluJakey1 · 06/06/2020 23:56

DH has a very odd reaction to raw mushrooms- he feels sick and faint and gets really hot. No idea why.

LuluJakey1 · 06/06/2020 23:57

Submarines definitely, and any picture of something large and mechanical in water makes me shudder.

ShowPicturesOfLifeNotDeath · 06/06/2020 23:57

Those robot hoovers that go around your house filming and mapping it.

bearfood · 06/06/2020 23:59

Seen a couple mention mine already-wins turbines. They creep me out badly. Also feel funny when I see cars with one headlight, really unsettling.
