Does The Times article have any new information? The fact you have to pay for some news articles in this day and age is ridiculous

YardleyX · 10/06/2020 20:46

Can’t believe they published that.

And I’ve only read the first few paragraphs

To be fair, they do have to pay their journalists!

It doesn't have much new information - there are a few snippits I haven't heard before, and there is a new potential victim - Louise Kerton - a student nurse who disappeared in Germany. Her parents have asked police to investigate again.

The main reason I linked to it was because we were being told off for speculating but there's been nothing on this thread that I haven't seen in the press - and in this article which just came out today there is some very grim speculation from the German prosecutor, stated quite bluntly. It's difficult to read so read yourself with caution.

Viviennemary · 10/06/2020 21:04

I was amazed to see the start of that article published in the Times of all papers. How this is helpful to anyone beats me. Unless they are trying to flush out a witness. But can't see they'd be likely to be reading the Times.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 10/06/2020 21:09

The more publicity this gets the better.

Horehound · 10/06/2020 21:30

I feel so I'll reading this. The playing with something little for days. Omg. Was that about Maddie? I just cannot comprehend it. What a sick evil bastard.

FruitPastillesaregood · 10/06/2020 21:34

I read something years ago to so with a paedophile ring that upset me terribly for a long time. It was about a two year old girl. My own daughter was the same age at the time, and I just couldn’t get it out of my head. I still feel upset thinking about it. Sometimes it is much better not to know too much. If I were the parents I just couldn’t function at all. How they have managed to have a relatively normal life I do not know. I feel desperately sorry for their other two children who will be reading all this .

dayswithaY · 10/06/2020 21:42

I feel for the family of Louise Kerton, can't believe I've never heard of this case before.

BeyondDreamsOfBeyondFourWalls · 10/06/2020 21:48

There are two other potential linked cases in the times article, Louise Kerton (missing adult, 24, last known whereabouts Aachen in Germany in July 2001) and Peggy Knobloch (murdered child, missing in May 2001 aged nine, body found in 2016 - missing and found in Lichtenburg)

deepwatersolo · 10/06/2020 22:54

The online conversation, where CB announced his wish to document an abduction via Videoclips is from 2013. So, it is not necessarily something he already did 6 years prior. Plus, with the high profile the case got pretty much immediately, chances are he destroyed what he had because it would have been too risky to keep it. Idk. Anyway, what do prosecutors and press think they are doing? This gossip helps no one. Am I missing something?

Blackbear19 · 10/06/2020 22:59

Sad Its just sad. Those poor kids and families. I'm getting the feeling there could be loads of victims.

I bet police all over Europe will be looking at their missing person list and possibly rape cases too.

Fingers crossed that they get enough evidence to convict him.

Arewedone · 10/06/2020 23:01

@deepwater I agree it isn’t clear when that chat took place, maybe I misread but I thought they came to light in 2013 not that there chats were 2013. I think the prosecutors must have something concrete based on the statements they are releasing but need to tie it more securely to the suspect. My feeling is they know what they are looking.

Blackbear19 · 10/06/2020 23:04

Was it not just before MM went missing he'd said he was going to get a small play thing?

ArriettyJones · 10/06/2020 23:06

That’s a very Margot Leadbetter kind of assertion, and a misleading one. There’s no reason why a paedophile wouldn’t read a broadsheet.
Viviennemary · 10/06/2020 23:16

Take your point Arrietty. But the Margot Leadbetter comparison did make me laugh.

ArriettyJones · 10/06/2020 23:30

😏

Blackbear19 · 11/06/2020 00:01

Sky news have printed he's been moved to isolation for his own safety.

Smallsteps88 · 11/06/2020 00:04

What a privilege has to be protected from people who want to harm him.

OP posts:
ButteryPuffin · 11/06/2020 00:12

Indeed. He should consider himself the lucky beneficiary of a mature justice system (not that it's perfect).

I'm not claiming to be the most well travelled person, but wherever I've been in Europe, you've always been able to get the Times, and it's been in shops, hotels etc. So I think it might well be a good location for a story that is designed to reach as many places as possible in the hope it catches the right person's eye.

Zug2 · 11/06/2020 06:17

"A German prosecutor has claimed that Portuguese police still think Madeleine McCann's parents are responsible for her disappearance and has criticised working with them.

Hans Christian Wolters said the working relationship with the Portuguese authorities is 'cumbersome' and that they have different ideas of what happened to the toddler who went missing in 2007, as reported by the Daily Telegraph."

It looks more and more like the Portugese authorities are obstructing any proper investigation into the disappearance of MM and the other cases, I am not one for conspiracy theories, but there is definitely something, other than incompetence, going on with the Portugese Police.

Arewedone · 11/06/2020 06:56

@Zug2 does make you think that it’s the start of the tourist season and Portugal is just opening up so perhaps they don’t want the resort negatively affected again.

deepwatersolo · 11/06/2020 06:56

It is strange, indeed. It would be interesting to know on which level they ,cooperate (or not)‘. After all it‘s individuals who make such decisions, it is hardly the Portuguese police who shares one belief about ‚who did it‘.
Maybe the Germans went all in and went public to force the portugese police‘s hand?

Arewedone · 11/06/2020 07:27

With amount of leaked stories you can sense the German frustration. If only some of these people had spoken out 13 years ago!

AlternativePerspective · 11/06/2020 07:34

What a privilege has to be protected from people who want to harm him. well, given he hasn’t actually been charged with this crime yet he has a right to be protected.

Irrespective of that, if he is guilty, and bear in mind that all of this is pure speculation at the moment, it would surely be better for him to be tried and convicted and sentenced.

KatherineJaneway · 11/06/2020 07:40

He wouldn't have risked someone passing that on to the police or police finding it in some sick collection.

If he is masked and he had no distinguishing marks etc it would be very difficult to find out who / where he was so he could have relied on that .

That’s a very Margot Leadbetter kind of assertion, and a misleading one. There’s no reason why a paedophile wouldn’t read a broadsheet.

The more people who hear about this latest suspect, the better.
