Going back to something someone raised re the attraction of the Algarve, I think attracts less than desirables into the region due to the proximity to Morocco, the major producer of Hashish. Algarve is all coastline so a major landing point. I can’t recall the figures but something like 70% goes through the Algarve and with that of course corruption, crime etc.

The speculation on this thread is sometimes upsetting but more so is information contained In news about things the suspect had reportedly said. I know we supposedly have a right to know and a right to discuss but some of it is just so so abhorrent
That poor little girl was not much more than a baby, it’s heartbreaking to even contemplate some of the things discussed here or out there in the media could have happened to her. I doubt this will bring closure for her parents from what I’ve read it will just bring more pain.
Not saying this thread should go I just feel personally some details or elements of speculation are just not helpful and lead to a very unpleasant train of thought

It's always stuck with me how Kate Mccann was reported to say something like 'they've taken her' when Maddy was discovered missing, as if something hadn't been right previously in the apartment but they couldn't quite put their finger on it.
I really hope they get some answers.

He probably operated from that region of Portugal either because he knew the police were completely inept or because they were corrupt and bribable. Or both.

It sounds like there were more men involved and the suspect sold videos. I hope German police manage to get a group of people as well the suspect.

Interesting point about the drugs along the coast.
Some thing seem to to be colliding there.
I find threads like this to throw up all sorts of interesting info, and a good reminder that don't necessarily know where we go on in holidays, to look doors securely... Pay attention to things and people around us and even on the holiday never fully let your guard down.

Anything to do with mm is going to lead to some sort of unpleasant thoughts?

This thread is useful, as we are discussing the developments regarding this new suspect. I agree with MNHQ, its not a place to speculate in detail about what may have happened to her during any abduction.

I don't think there has been any speculation on here that hasn't come out of press reports.

Has anyone seen the The Times article today. That's some speculation coming straight from the German prosecutor.

I feel in equal parts horrified, but also very hopeful that they are actually about to bring to justice a massive Europe wide paedophile ring.

Like others have said thank god the McCanns were able to push this so much. There actions may well have saved hundreds of children in the future of being killed or abused.

My heart goes out to the McCanns and all the other parents and people involved/affected. I can't even begin to imagine what they must be thinking and feeling at this time.

I don’t feel we need to speculate on grisly details as there is so much out there atm. I really hope the German police can find that piece of the jigsaw so ensure this monster is never released.

@Zug2 Isn’t it unbelievable. Hopefully the met can still investigate. There is a 2 hour special tonight on German TV possibly more details will be revealed. I realise this is all media led but just can’t help believing this guy is guilty.

If corruption was suspected in the Portugese police force then surely they would have sent someone undercover to investigate. It's more likely that it's a massive European wide paedo ring as @MiniMum97 says they're on the verge of cracking and cannot yet reveal what they've got.
