It's crazy to think at the time when people talked about paedophile rings I thought it was surely highly unlikely.. I think in 2007 I was just completely unaware. It is heartbreaking to think of the further pain this will cause but I still thinks it's better to get closure if possible. It could been any of those children.

I didn't know the Algarve was so dodgy. I said in my pp that we went there on hols back in 2001 and while at a cafe off the gettin track, we saw a man staring at a young girl. That man looked strange. I can only remember the explicit shirt he had on and he was scruffy with dark hair. To think he may have been one of these seedy characters is chilling.

This story seems to have disappeared off the mainstream radar completely. Only a couple of days ago being discussed on this morning and all major news channels and now doesn't even make the news. I just really hope it doesn't disappear into the archives well tbh most of this hideous speculation seems to have been dreamed up by the press not issues as statements by the authorities.

Now we have the whole of Europe painted as a mass ground of child abuse and child trafficking and this man centred right in the middle of it.

Even if he is responsible for Madeleine’s disappearance and even death, the amount of speculation the media have created over him makes it highly unlikely he would have a fair trial anyway.

I suspect this story like previous ones will just disappear back into the archives and in a couple of years time there will be a “new lead” and so on.

As I and other posters said, what they have is clearly very flimsy or they would have issued charges by now.

As for the GF, of course she’s lying low. Wouldn’t you if you thought the tabloids and then the vigilantes were going to come calling?

The press involvement in this is going to cause less people coming forward not more.

it’s widely publicised he’s in jail so why lay low?

Her own involvement in what he has done could land her in prison?

But surely the people around her would report her whereabouts to the authorities? This is not a small matter and she could always cut a deal in return for talking.

The German police have confirmed they have not yet interviewed CB and not charged him because in Germany as soon as a person is charged they have access to their entire case file. They have said they do not want this to happen yet as they know there will have be other charges to bring against him. They are still investigating other murders/disappearances. This was widely reported yesterday.

The German authorities have issued an Interpol Red Notice for the immediate apprehension of the ex girlfriend so hopefully she will be found soon.

None of us have any idea of what they have.
It is possible they know what happened but can't yet prove it in a court if law.

Something hideously wrong. That police force must be corrupt, something is not right.
I wonder if they can be sued? I cannot believe what I'm reading!!

Early reports of the rape conviction mention that there was at least one other attack on the video camera that was turned in.

If he has a stash of videos, locating them must be a priority task. That fits with both the nature of the appeals being made and the police's non-specific statements which indicate rothat they know but cannot prove what happened to other victims.

Looking at the timeline of his offending, there are long gaps, and I did wonder if there were other offences (perhaps known to the police?) during those times.

And I salute you Hazel Behan, for telling your story in public. I am glad that the Met are now as engaged and professional as the Portuguese police should have been in the first place.

In terms of the girlfriend that they’ve put a red notice out for (NM), she was his girlfriend some time after Madeleine went missing. She’s only 28 now, she was 17 and he was 37 and they were together for a year and a half. Her social media accounts all show she lives in the same town where he is imprisoned and she was posting up until the 4th June.

According to her friends NM found images of child abuse on his computer and when she spoke to him about it, she was badly beaten and he attempted to strangle her, putting her in hospital and, obviously, she left him. Despite him being in prison, she is allegedly still in fear for her life.

It’s been suggested that police managed to track his British exgirlfriend who was with him a considerable time before Madeleine’s disappearance and she and her husband who was an acquaintance of CB’s have given police as much information as they can . It has also been suggested that they want to speak to NM who was his girlfriend after Madeleine went missing so that they can ask questions about who his girlfriend during the time Madeleine went missing might have been. There appears to be a missing girlfriend that they are trying to trace to find out more about the time Madeleine went missing and also rapes and burglaries occurred.

It’s been suggested on Social Media that the phone number that spoke to CB on the night of Madeleine’s disappearance belongs to the ex-girlfriend NM. But if that is true, she would have only just have turned 15 a fortnight before and would also have been in Germany. Surely the number was another burner phone of CBS?

Very complicated case.

Well, I am also lost for words.

The police in Portugal are clearly corrupt and utterly incompetent. This, although being about MM, is also very much about seemingly tens of other victims. A much bigger picture than most of us could have imagined. A much more evil picture.

There is going to be a very big, huge, massive, underground scandal/revelation/discovery (whatever the term) which will be uncovered. I really believe it will all unravel now.

I really hope so.

It seems he videos everything. Regarding poor little MM, I think they have this tape Sad It's just getting worse and worse for the parents.

The German woman some witnesses mentioned... Was this Nicole from the Portuguese Foster school? Was this one of his gf?

Some German accent connection has always been present hasn't it?

He made a huge amount of money before returning to Germany, he is a expert in videos... Has props etc.

Seemingly drug habit, off his face on drugs... How serious...

Thinking of the epstein network, the sheer extent of it and how it goes to the heart of US government, ex presidents and our royalty...

I hope this Foster thing gets picked apart as well.

They may not have video on a USB, as in found in his possession, but downloaded from somewhere that doesn't show CB himself in the video.

So they would have to identify the room as his, etc

It's so emotive and distressing... To confirm it but have to let main suspect go?

What technology was there at that time?
When they say video I'm thinking of old-fashioned tapes.

I'm sure I read the tapes, accidently stolen? We're in the camper that was scrapped?
Perhaps I'm confused on the whereabout of the tape but I assume it was old fashioned tape or the small tapes?

That went into cam corder.
He needed to money, he had this set up, who was he selling these videos too?
