To the poster who says it's no big deal he's been so outed and mentions Robert Murat was named, he was arrested so although not guilty, he was named and hopefully this time the exposure is of the right person, it certainly sounds like they have something definite on him.

Casino218 · 07/06/2020 21:14

@deepwatersolo it was the Portuguese police that release CBS full name.

Heygirlheyboy · 07/06/2020 21:27

They're certainly linking the cases on Sky News ..

deepwatersolo · 07/06/2020 21:49

If I am not mistaken, it was German police that published CB‘s Portugiese phone number, which really is all the press would need to get a name, Casino.

Consty · 07/06/2020 22:13

Fucking hell. This is all so disturbing

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 07/06/2020 22:48

And horrifying.
If all leads/intel had been followed up properly & the groundwork done in the beginning then Madeleine God rest her soul (if the worst has happened) would have been solved & many other children saved. & maybe (one dares hope) that Madeleine would still be alive & back with her family in Rothley & enjoying/moaning about missing half of year 12 & worrying about her A-levels, be constantly FaceTiming & Zooming her friends & wondering when they can next hit Fosse Park.
(Leicester girl here)

That's the worst thing these scumbags do - take & destroy the future.

SisterAgatha · 08/06/2020 00:24

I just keep thinking about those scent dogs alerting to the sofa. If it’s true what was said in the Netflix documentary, the dogs can smell death after even 40 years. If he’d murdered before and sat on the sofa, would they be able to smell it? Hmm Kate’s clothes alerted as well and a report said he had female clothes and wigs at his house. I really do think they have a lot more concrete information on him than is being reported.

As for people saying it’s one persons word against another, that is how prosecutions worked for years before dna and surveillance evidence. Witnesses and confessions.

KatherineJaneway · 08/06/2020 06:32

@Caelano

I'm only reflecting back to you what you are saying on these threads. Maybe go back and reread what you have posted.

Again I reiterate that we have no idea what the Police know or can prove. It clearly isn't enough for prosecution at the moment but that could change if people come forwards.

In terms of the scent dogs...”Eddie” the scent dog was found to have been very wrong in a case at a children’s home in Jersey after discovering a child’s skull.

Except hundreds of thousands of pounds and a mass dig later it was discovered that it was actually a coconut shell.

Eddie the sniffer dog – the animal that had supposedly found the ‘scent of death’ in the Portuguese flat where Madeleine McCann disappeared – no longer had a licence for UK police forensic work when Harper started using him in Jersey. Eddie, whose owner, Martin Grime, was paid £93,600 for less than five months’ work, triggered the first excavations by barking at a spot where Harper’s team then unearthed what was claimed to be part of a child’s skull. In fact, as a Kew Gardens expert has now confirmed, it was a piece of coconut shell.

Blackbear19 · 08/06/2020 09:24

That's even more disturbing that Eddie had been wildly wrong elsewhere.
It certainly makes sense what someone said earlier if the dogs are forced to rework the same area they will eventually give false alert. These dogs area trained to alert then they get to play.

BeyondDreamsOfBeyondFourWalls · 08/06/2020 09:31

"triggered the first excavations by barking at a spot"

Not important, but don't sniffer dogs sit to alert?

NameChange84 · 08/06/2020 10:11

@BeyondDreamsOfBeyondFourWalls

Not Eddie, he was trained to bark. Eddie and Keela were trained to have different responses from one another.

Arewedone · 08/06/2020 10:24

Wondering why there aren’t any finger print matches if they think it was him.

Because he wore gloves?
SirVixofVixHall · 08/06/2020 10:31

Women’s clothing and wigs ?
There is so much more here to find out. The “troubled “ children from Germany , that is really worrying me, as there seems no good reason why this known paedophile would be involved with this, the “bringing back” (recapturing ?) a pregnant teenage girl. Where are these children now ?
Everything about this seems deeply suspect and unsettling.

Skelebat · 08/06/2020 10:33

It sounds like a paedophile ring doesn't it? :(
Children are stolen and sold more often than anyone would care to think about :(

SirVixofVixHall · 08/06/2020 10:34

Yes, it does sound to me like trafficking of children. Very disturbing.

CheerfuIPotato · 08/06/2020 10:34

Didn’t the dog walk past the spot several times without alerting to start with? It’s entirely possible that it picked up on its handlers body language if he was expecting an alert, and obliged.

^Several witnesses reported men collecting for charity. On 20 April, a bedraggled-looking man asked a tourist in her apartment near 5A for money for an orphanage in nearby Espiche; apparently there were no orphanages or similar in or near Espiche at the time. The witness described the man as pushy and intimidating.[115] On 25 or 26 April, the tourist who rented apartment 5A before the McCanns found a man on his balcony who had entered via the steps from the street.[116] Polite and clean-shaven, the visitor asked for money for an orphanage.[117] On the day of the disappearance, 3 May, there were four charity collections by two men in the streets around 5A.[116] At 4 pm two black-haired men approached a British homeowner looking for funds for a hostel or hospice in or near Espiche, and at 5 pm two men approached another British tourist with a similar story.[118]

An "ugly" blond-haired man was seen on 2 May across the road from 5A, apparently watching it; he had also been seen on 29 April near the Ocean Club. On 30 April the granddaughter of 5A's former owners saw a blond-haired man leaning against a wall behind the apartments, and saw him again on 2 May near the tapas restaurant, looking at 5A. She described him as Caucasian, mid-30s, short cropped hair, and "ugly" with spots.[119][120] On the day of the disappearance or the day before, a man was seen staring at the McCanns' block, where a white van was parked.[120] In the late afternoon of 3 May, a girl on the balcony of the apartment above 5A saw a man leave through the gate below, as though he had come out of a ground-floor apartment; what caught her attention was that he looked around before shutting the gate quietly, with both hands.[121] At 14:30 two blond-haired men were seen on the balcony of 5C, an empty apartment two doors from 5A. At 16:00–17:00 a blond-haired man was seen near 5A. At 18:00 the same or another blond-haired man was seen in the stairwell of the McCanns' block. At 23:00, after the disappearance, two blond-haired men were seen in a nearby street speaking in raised voices. When they realized they had been noticed, they reportedly lowered their voices and walked away.[122]^

I’ve posted parts of this before. What interests me now is this “orphanage”.

Bit like a “rehabilitation home for teenage girls” no?

Whatever was going on in Portugal was dodgy af.

Szalinski · 08/06/2020 10:48

I've just finished reading Kate McCanns book. They are painfully aware of the error they made leaving the children and it's just heartbreaking. The pictures at the end of the book too, they looked so happy and then the aftermath, just utterly broken.

They have been living in a nightmare for 13 years, I really hope there is some resolution to this case now. That is the least they deserve.

PurplePansy05 · 08/06/2020 11:05

I think everything that needed to be said and more about the parents leaving their young children unsupervised has already been said.

I read somewhere before that Kate and Gerry were trying for years to have children and Madeleine was their long awaited blessing. Imagine the pain of losing that child just three years later, especially knowing you made a mistake. The thousands of "what ifs" and beating yourselves up constantly.

I think they are already suffering the most awful punishment of all and they shouldn't be crucified by the public over and over again.

SisterAgatha · 08/06/2020 11:30

I’ve seen a few things on Reddit to the dogs credit, I don’t think it looked too biased in the apartment - the car yes, but not so much in the apartment.

I didn’t know about the coconut shell, that’s interesting. I think the more we hear about the activities in Portugal at the time, the more I can see why the police did want the mccanns to be guilty. It covers up the lack of policing they’d done for several years.

SpokeTooSoon · 08/06/2020 11:36

Exactly the same pain as if you had fallen pregnant easily. Children born through fertility treatment are no loved more deeply than other children.

Well said. It’s so weird to suggest hard to conceive children are more loved - and harder grieved - than any other children.

They would miss her just as much and be just as heartbroken however she had come to be, of course.

DigOutThoseLemonHandWipes · 08/06/2020 11:56

Mine is the result of 10 years trying and fertility treatment. I love him very much (most of the time) I still shouted at him for messing about instead of doing school work this morning. I don't imagine for a moment that I some how love him more than my friend loves are her DD born a few weeks later who was conceived "first go" or even any more than anyone who's DC were unplanned.
