Nearly Sophie but I am an Emmie. Would have been Daniel if a boy.

ClosedAuraOpenMind · 29/05/2020 10:50

Lois, after Lois Lane. but I did become a journalist

SporadicNamechange · 29/05/2020 10:54

I have been told many times that, had I been a boy, I’d have been Christopher. By parents who were obviously disappointed I wasn’t a boy.

I have no idea what the other contenders for my name were, but they went with something pretty terrible (a name that is always a prominent feature of threads about names that will never make a come back - and rightly so). I know my paternal grandmother threw a tantrum because I wasn’t named after her (which is good because that is an even worse name than what my parents went with).

rooarsome · 29/05/2020 10:54

Anastasia after my great grandmother or Harriet after my great aunty
Or Christopher if I was a boy

HaudMaDug · 29/05/2020 10:56

Ian but my folks were expecting a boy. They still gave me a (slighlty less) male name and Dad did moulded me into a mini him.

redwoodmazza · 29/05/2020 10:57

I was to be James - but I was a girl!

blosstree · 29/05/2020 11:28

Laurie or Catherine

bluetongue · 29/05/2020 11:30

Anastasia and Harriet are awesome names rooarsome. They have good taste.

wowfudge · 29/05/2020 11:31

Adam if I had been a boy.

PintOfGin · 29/05/2020 11:37

Early 90's baby:
Sky (my mum's choice)
Karen (dad's choice)

Out of the two I would have preferred sky Grin but even then it's not really my style so I'm happy with what I have.

FrancoBegbie · 29/05/2020 11:57

My parents flipped a coin because they couldn’t decide on which name to go for. I could have been a Zara if the penny had landed tails side up.

Ellmau · 29/05/2020 12:02

My actual name but with a creative spelling. Thank goodness someone persuaded them otherwise ;)

Vanillaradio · 29/05/2020 12:09

Emily. If I was a boy then Timothy.

OneWildNightWithJBJ · 29/05/2020 12:11

Siobhan. My mum has Irish roots...

CovidicusRex · 29/05/2020 12:12

@keepingbees me too Grin

mrsswayze · 29/05/2020 12:16

I was named Denise but my adopted parents changed it, I was only 3 months old

luckylavender · 29/05/2020 12:25

Diana 🤔

Sn0tnose · 29/05/2020 12:51

My mum wanted Elizabeth for me. I don’t think I’d like it to be shortened to Liz and I’m definitely not a Beth, so prefer what I’ve got.

Helpusout · 29/05/2020 12:57

Cinderella no joke thank god I have an older sister who prevented this happening

joystir59 · 29/05/2020 12:59

Pauline!

35andThriving · 29/05/2020 15:39

Codie / Codey / Cody, not sure what spelling they would have gone with.

Camomila · 29/05/2020 15:41

Gertrude...we are from Northern Italy near Switzerland which makes it a less odd choice but I'm very happy I didn't end up with it!

OhTheseSummerNiiiiights · 29/05/2020 15:48

I was to be either Claire or George.

I’d have liked Claire.

madnessitellyou · 29/05/2020 16:00

Hyman (after my grandfather). Thank God I turned out to be a girl. I ended up with a very 70s name - there were six others in my class at primary school - but it wasn’t Hyman so I’m forever grateful.

Pleasenodont · 29/05/2020 16:10

Esmerelda, think my Dad was on crack...

If I had a penis I’d have been Bradley.
