The anti -dementors are here to be reasonable and sensible about everything.

I've just ventured into the Corona zone.
There are more people like us over there now I think, but jeepers they are still obsessed with a second wave.
Why doesnt anyone there ever discuss good news like the virus no longer being considered an epidemic in this country as there are less than 140k cases.
Or Maria Neira from the WHO stating a second wave is getting less and less likely.

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 27/05/2020 08:26

When the schools first shut I said on here that they should never dare fine us again. The vitriol I received made me leave the site and not return until in desperation I found you lot! Either education is important or it isn’t. Dd will have been out of school for the best part of 6 months by the time they may reopen in wales. I’ve done a bit but she’s completely unmotivated and won’t listen to me.

I’m hoping the evidence for the disease dying out grows and grows so things will go back to normal far faster than we expect. Although I’m sure in wales we’ll still be proving some ridiculous point!

rookiemere · 27/05/2020 08:30

I think Nicola may find her lockdown loving populace leaving the country in droves if our holiday lets are still blocked whilst Englands are open. It's funny because I've talked to a few friends and they all think that she's doing a great job and the Scotland lockdown is spot on - whilst meeting with me and breqking the current rules Grin.

BarkandCheese · 27/05/2020 08:32

DH took the dog for an early morning walk on the common, and came back with some exciting news, the coffee cart is back! One more little step towards normality has been taken.

I’ve obviously missed the dramaz overnight, are we now dangerous buffoons? I’ve always wondered what a buffoon actually is, I kind of picture it as a cross between a buffalo and a balloon.

MinnieMountain · 27/05/2020 08:32

FFS. Apparently "murdering" in the thread title is offensive too. We must be annoying a lot of people.

Would MNHQ accept "we're all going on a summer holiday to get some (anti) Vitamin D" ?

(Best I could do - limited sleep)

Drivingdownthe101 · 27/05/2020 08:38

Interesting fact, my then 5 year old called our local MP a buffoon in his earshot.
She was entirely correct.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 27/05/2020 08:45

How about "if you're a dangerous buffoon and you know it, clap your hands!" for the next thread then?

rookiemere · 27/05/2020 08:46

Dowser Durham seems to be the location of choice for those on long journeys Wink.
I like the look of Barnard Castle I'll definitely be paying that a visit as soon as I can.

Places are opening in Scotland despite the official line. An outdoor mini golf is meant to open on Thursday according to their FB page and has many responses from frothy dementors who don't feel it's quite in the spirit of the relaxed guidelines. DS used to love it and if he wasn't a morose teen these days I'd have booked my slot - lots of non dementory responses from people who have booked theirs.
Still got to worry because we only need a tiny number of people to get infected for our small hard won freedomto frequent mini golf will be whisked away again.

Drivingdownthe101 · 27/05/2020 08:46

I really want to go on multiple threads this morning to tell people that ‘social distance’ is not a verb!!
So many people saying things like ‘there was room to social distance’. It doesn’t make sense!!!

HauntedGoatFart · 27/05/2020 08:48

When the schools first shut I said on here that they should never dare fine us again.

I too can't see school fines having much traction after this. I would laugh in the fucking face of a school that tried to tell me a week off in term time would be disastrous to my DC's education. Teachers have shot their foot right off with that one after the way the unions have behaved.

DH is still confident the inbound quarantine will collapse, with Europe abolishing it and an easy way to get around it by flying back via Dublin. They'll end up making it just the Americas and China or something, and then America will twist our arm and they'll drop that too. It would have made sense to do it back at the start of April, but to institute one now would just be a joke, and the police have already made it clear they won't be getting involved in enforcing it.

Mascotte · 27/05/2020 08:49

@RiverDinghy but remember... you won't need vitamin D WHEN YOU'RE DEAD!!!

RubberDinghyRapids · 27/05/2020 08:51

I shall do my civic duty by only going on holidays where grannies are in short supply..... Iiiiiiiiii-BEEFA HERE I COME! Grin

Shodan · 27/05/2020 08:52

Morning all.

It seems I've missed an important step in our cultural development (and by 'our' I mean us, the anti dementors).

Are we the dangerous buffoons?

Or were they dementors referring to themselves?

Someone else?

And why is murdering OK if hurled as a reprimand by a dementor, but not in a thread title? Is there someone we can lobby, to get Speshul Dispensation to use the M word?

Drivingdownthe101 · 27/05/2020 08:54

Anyone who trusts their precious darlings into the care of ‘them’ at school (i couldn’t tell if she was referring to Boris Johnson or the teachers to be honest) is a dangerous buffoon. Apparently!

RubberDinghyRapids · 27/05/2020 08:55

"Dangerous buffoon" was hurled at a poster on a thread by an (increasingly ranty and dementory) OP. So not at us specifically, but at a poster who felt similarly to us IYSWIM.

Drivingdownthe101 · 27/05/2020 08:56

This was the deletion message...

Message from MNHQ: Thanks for all the reports about this thread. We think when an OP starts calling other posters 'dangerous buffoons' and accusing them of posting bullshit, it's time to pull the plug...

countrygirl99 · 27/05/2020 08:59

I unfriended a dementor this morning. TBH she was a "hobby acquaintance" rather than a real friend. I had her on 30 day snooze that finished yesterday. First post I saw the morning was at the extreme end of Cummings support, it was "he didn't break any rules and anyone who says otherwise is a raving pinko jealous of his money" or words to that effect. Amazed at the conversion I looked back at her posts for the last week - full on dementor, including yesterday up in arms at a suggestion that the local play area might be unlocked at the beginning of June 🤔.

Weedsnseeds1 · 27/05/2020 09:00

I don't have any children, but I do allow my cat to paddle his virus laden paws all over the neighborhood.
He came and joined our VE Day party too.
Does that count as dangerous buffoon wry?

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 27/05/2020 09:00

I feel we should adopt it in solidarity, then. It can be our very own not a verb verb!

I danger-buffooned to the shops yesterday...

Was thinking of going to the beach for a danger-buffoonery picnic...

Saw a group a kids danger-buffooning in the park, it was lovely, they looked like they were having a great time...

Weedsnseeds1 · 27/05/2020 09:00

Buffoonery - sodding autocorrect

BarkandCheese · 27/05/2020 09:00

@Drivingdownthe101

Oh, I’m quite disappointed by this, I was hoping the whole anti dementor movement were the dangerous buffoons, or at the very least people eating crispy on benches were. People wanting their children to get an education and spend time with other children being dangerous buffoons is pretty dull.
RubberDinghyRapids · 27/05/2020 09:01

Weeds Could you soak his paws in Dettol? Just a couple of times a day?

HauntedGoatFart · 27/05/2020 09:06

I quite like the idea of danger-buffooning all over London. Sign me up and toss me a t-shirt.

Shodan · 27/05/2020 09:07

Oh, I’m quite disappointed by this, I was hoping the whole anti dementor movement were the dangerous buffoons

Ditto Grin Still, it's a splendid moniker and one I think we should adopt forthwith.

If we were to have thread titles such as 'Buffoons Abound! Danger-buffoonery Afoot!" we could then have bets as to when the first whinging complaints will be...
