Even if it means 2 weeks of quarantine Grin
The anti -dementors are here to be reasonable and sensible about everything.

@DominaShantotto I don't know how far it is to uni, but could you possibly cycle? Ebike on 0% monthly payments? I'm looking into cycling my commute altogether using an ebike - I'm not at all scared of taking the Tube but it sounds like it'll be a royal pain with all the restrictions and I could use the exercise and fresh air.

SpnBaby1967 · 27/05/2020 09:09

Wow, these threads move quickly!

My DH excitedly pointed out to me that car showrooms are opening soon, so we can go out and do some dangerous buffoonery nonessential vehicle browsing ready for thinking about purchasing and single handedly keeping the car salesmen in business 😁

Drivingdownthe101 · 27/05/2020 09:09

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito I am definitely up for some danger-buffooning. I reckon I’d be far better at that than social distancing.

DianneWhatcock · 27/05/2020 09:13

Damn I Can't believe I missed all the fun with the danger buffoons Sad

Drivingdownthe101 · 27/05/2020 09:19

Oh, I’m quite disappointed by this, I was hoping the whole anti dementor movement were the dangerous buffoons

It was her delivery that was the most entertaining thing to be honest. She raved and ranted and got more and more irate, then when people responded calmly she accused them of ranting. Couldn’t quite figure out why she cared so much about our danger buffoonery!

enjoyingSun · 27/05/2020 09:24

We have deliveries coming today -and I'll be trying to get my kids to do academic work I'm not sure that's enough danger-buffooning.

Have to admit I'm worried about the trains and buses capacity thing - DH gets on train for work and they are standing room only - it's not possible to walk or cycle.

On plus side he's been told they won't be back till October now so he'll be working form home till then so possible things will be more settled by then.

Drivingdownthe101 · 27/05/2020 09:27

DH commutes to London from the midlands so not much chance of cycling!

DominaShantotto · 27/05/2020 09:27

There's no way I can walk or cycle down the M1! Uni is vehemently anti-car so there's nowhere at all to park on campus and the traffic wardens enjoy their job - so the train is the only viable way to get to campus. If I can't get the train - I'm fucked. Mind you if schools are still screwed up - I'm fucked anyway.

I was doing so bloody well in this course as well!

Delta1 · 27/05/2020 09:34

I danger-buffooned to the shops yesterday...

Hilarious !

fartingsparkles · 27/05/2020 09:37

I love the idea of being a dangerous buffoon, buffooning around dangerously - although probably not a good idea with an ice cream/coffee in hand!! I saw that thread in its initial loopy stage and gave up before it descended into full rant mode.

Khione · 27/05/2020 09:37

@DominaShantotto aren't all the lectures going mainly online in all the universities. I thought Oxford were saying no face to face learning until October next year

Springersrock · 27/05/2020 09:46

Feel quite sad I’ve missed danger buffoonery

I’ve had a lovely dementor-free 24 hours, avoided the news completely yesterday and feel much better for it

I must confess, I’ve dementored someone at work this morning. We have a customer who is a complete pain in the arse.

He insisted on having something installed that we expressly told him over and over again wouldn’t work for what he wanted to use it for, he now phones every few weeks to complain it doesn’t work.

He phoned this morning, the person he wanted to speak to is on furlough, he got shitty, I got shitty and reminded him we were in the middle of a pandemic, we were struggling to keep the business afloat and PEOPLE WERE DYING.

I feel dirty now Grin

Shodan · 27/05/2020 09:54

@Springersrock

See, now, you missed an excellent opportunity to say "You, Sir, are a dangerous buffoon!"

Drivingdownthe101 · 27/05/2020 10:00

I’m off danger buffooning in my mums garden later. Our garden is bigger and more child friendly but I’m not entirely sure of the dementor status of my neighbours. Her neighbours were having VE Day street parties so I’m assuming they’re anti dementors.

Weedsnseeds1 · 27/05/2020 10:00

RubberDinghy no, it's toxic to cats Grin

Nihiloxica · 27/05/2020 10:00

Dementors not even bothering to maintain the facade that they are terrified and that this is about people's lives.

They're getting complacent with the furlough extension until October. I think most of them imagine they'll be ready to resume normal life by then.

Nihiloxica · 27/05/2020 10:01

"You, Sir, are a dangerous buffoon!"

Grin
DianneWhatcock · 27/05/2020 10:06

@Nihiloxica

I agree! But What I don't understand is do these people not realise that the longer their employers aren't trading - (despite being given the money to pay employees) the higher risk of the business going under and hence redundancies?

BogRollBOGOF · 27/05/2020 10:18

Is daring to breathe or pant while running empty fields still MURDER? Do I get bonus points for skipping rythmically to a particularly jaunty song?

I can handle being a dangerous buffoon, although it does dredge up a memory of a certain Mayor of London dangling from a zipwire Grin

enjoyingSun · 27/05/2020 10:22

They're getting complacent with the furlough extension until October. I think most of them imagine they'll be ready to resume normal life by then.

August aren't employers supposed to pay about a quarter of the money themselves - I think that may bring some changes

Nihiloxica · 27/05/2020 10:22

I don't know, Dianne, it's quite strange.

If I were furloughed now I would be very worried I was already redundant.

But I know of business owners with work to do that can't get furloughed staff to return.

Maybe they think learning what it's like to be disabled or chronically ill is worth the sacrifice of their livelihood? WinkHmm

Springersrock · 27/05/2020 10:27

See, now, you missed an excellent opportunity to say "You, Sir, are a dangerous buffoon!"

😂

Honestly, the man gets right on my tits.

He came here once and complained that we didn’t have a spare loo roll in the toilet. There was a full roll on the holder, but he actually made a complaint that there wasn’t a spare one.

Complete fuckwit

We’ve still got one of our employees refusing to return to work. He’s early 20s, no health conditions that he’s made us aware of or stops him smoking copious amounts of weed, and no kids.

Sadly we will have to make redundancies at some point. We’ve missed the whole of our busy season.

We’re getting round him not being here as other staff have his skills, but the longer he stays off, the more we manage without him, the more redundancy is likely.

SomewhereEast · 27/05/2020 10:31

Totally agree that schools fining for absence is now unsustainable. We've been very virtuous thus far, but I'm eyeing up some winter sun to lift our spirits after this shitty year & the school can suck it up.

DianneWhatcock · 27/05/2020 10:33

@Nihiloxica

Hahahhahahaha BlushBlush

maddy68 · 27/05/2020 10:35

I'm going 1st July :)
