Even if it means 2 weeks of quarantine Grin
The anti -dementors are here to be reasonable and sensible about everything.

LivinLaVidaLoki that’s horrific. Our school has been predominantly positive and sensible but I did waver a bit yesterday when I saw a communication from the head (to the governors, not the parents thankfully) suggesting she didn’t think it was the right time for them to be going back.
Like others I’m expecting all the Draconian measures to be dropped fairly quickly, but agree that this could be at the expense of children’s mental health.
I’ve been clear to mine that if it’s awful (the safety measures) then I’ll take them straight out again. I’m in a position to do that however, and many aren’t.

Drivingdownthe101 · 30/05/2020 08:58

Yes DH and I were saying yesterday why would anyone in their right minds go to Disney with all that in place? It’s supposed to be fun!

Delta1 · 30/05/2020 08:59

100% agree @LivinLaVidaLoki I never realised how much power the individual schools / councils / LAs had to make their own decisions. I suppose it's a good thing in the normal course of events, but right now they shouldn't be introducing extra measures like these that have been deemed completely unnecessary by the government's advisors and as you say, are highly likely to actually be harmful.

LivinLaVidaLoki our local school is reopening on Monday (we're leaving it a week for the dust to settle before I -throw DS under the bus- take up his keyworker place) but the pre-school that feeds it isn't opening till September because "they don't want to put anyone at risk". Their choice, of course, but I don't see the logic.

Oddly enough the GP who finally helped her said it was one of the best things she could do to come up for Sunday lunch to our house. I said but wait what, what about... and he grumped and said in his opinion it was being exaggerated and a lot of things could kill you of which that was just one. So if a dementor stops her, she has MEDICAL PERMISSION to be in my house. Nyah.

Yeah I'm certainly not paying thousands of pounds to not even guarantee I could get into the Disney park; the face masks and no parades/shows/Disney extra hours. No thanks

AnxiousElephant77 · 30/05/2020 09:21

I don't think fun is allowed any more.

Drivingdownthe101 · 30/05/2020 09:22

BBC in full on dementor mode again this morning.

I’ve been following the Disney parks situation because I’m a huge theme park geek. Allegedly they are losing a billion dollars a week having the parks shut so they’re obviously desperate to reopen them. The reopening right now isn’t really aimed at holiday makers, it’s aimed at locals with season tickets who can come for a few hours a couple of times a week, and they will come. Disney Springs, an outdoor shopping and eating area which requires no ticket to enter, has just reopened. The huge Disney store there requires timed entry, people were being given times up to six hours in advance to come back on its reopening day it was so popular.

@dk155. I wash my shopping. However , I also go for drives / walks/ picnics in the countryside and have met family members for socially distanced BBQs in the garden. I also believe that it is up to the individual to assess their own risks and would not put down or report anyone for making different choices to me.
