Even if it means 2 weeks of quarantine Grin
The anti -dementors are here to be reasonable and sensible about everything.

Checking back in to the sanest place on the internet.

RubberDinghyRapids · 26/05/2020 23:58

Bugger me, it really is. Confused

Is Greysparkles one of us? I recognise the username but didn't want to tag her just in case.

Lardlizard · 26/05/2020 23:59

I’m joining

savehalloween · 27/05/2020 00:02

My brain hurts after that conversation Confused.

RubberDinghyRapids · 27/05/2020 00:04

I think 'conversation' is stretching it a bit Grin

Willitneverend · 27/05/2020 00:06

@bloodybridget the Scottish Government have said its unlikely people here will be able to go on holiday until August. Visit Scotland might be able to provide advice too. I'm hoping we'll get a bit more information from NS on Thursday - I would guess the Government may be worried now that big companies have - quelle surprise! - started to fold.

What have the Sxottish dementor contingent got planned for the weekend? We're going to the beach and to see my sister. My husband is being a real daredevil and also wants to go to a garden centre. Shock

savehalloween · 27/05/2020 00:07

Fair point Grin

The deletion message on that thread made me laugh though. One of the best I've seen.
As MN weren't keen on adding anti-dementor could we request it change to dangerous buffoons instead?

RubberDinghyRapids · 27/05/2020 00:08

No. But only because I'm sad 'cult' didn't get included on previous ones when I suggested it and I'm feeling petty. Grin

RubberDinghyRapids · 27/05/2020 00:09

I always like it when you get a decent deletion message. The plain ones are so very disappointing.

savehalloween · 27/05/2020 00:12

The dangerous buffoon cult?

How do I join? Take my money.

RubberDinghyRapids · 27/05/2020 00:13

I think in the spirit of the thread, payments should be made in small change, absolutely no contactless card payments.

Dowser · 27/05/2020 00:22

Pickachew..we watched two episodes.

Honestly, it’s time for this craziness to work
People suggesting buses filled to 25 percent capacity should write it down, read what they’ve written and then underneath it write a 100 times
I must stop writing down daft suggestions.

Do the powers that be, honestly think people are going to put up with ni holidays, restaurants 1/3 full. No cinemas.
Oh and wait till we have queuing outside a clothes shop in the pouring down rain...
Really?
Whoops there goes a flying pig.

This. Is. Never. Going. To .Work.

Went to the beach again this evening. I was heartened to see people in the water at 6 pm in the evening. Plenty on the prom, stupid car parks still closed but people parking wherever they could.
I saw a couple of kids have a cheeky go on one of the swing type things..like a tyre with a net in..you sit in
Yayyy
And heavens to Betsy..a couple of kids riding their bikes down a bit of an artificial slope that had once had that cheap, tacky red tape stuck over it.

I’d like to go out under the cover of darkness and remove it all and leave in a big bag I. Front of the council offices, followed by those horrible plastic chunky things that are blocking entry to the car parks
With a sign saying

You’re welcome.

Gammeldragz · 27/05/2020 00:32

Evening all. I posted on one of the first of these threads but been popping in and out to lurk.
Regarding summer holidays, I'm a bit stuck in a wierd way. We are booked for a holiday in Portugal end of July into August, easyjet flights and Airbnb, it was for a family party thing to visit relatives who live there. I'd assumed it would not be possible and was just waiting to cancel and get a refund (too far ahead to have been able to do so so far). But now it may be possible, which is great and we would go, but I never applied for our passports as they expired and I hasn't expected to need them, so we may not be able to go even if it's allowed!
Went online to renew and it's saying only apply if you need for compassionate ground. Though elsewhere it says you can still apply but don't expect to get them in good time and no fast track service is available.

I'm going to apply and see what happens, I suppose. Still got 8 weeks...

highmarkingsnowbile · 27/05/2020 01:22

I'm about to go to bed but I need to make some holiday plans.

rosettesforjill · 27/05/2020 02:25

@gammeldragz we applied for one for DS. It seems to be progressing slowly. I think it's worth giving it a go.

Bloodybridget · 27/05/2020 03:08

@Willitneverend thanks for the information. We have decided to cancel, DP will try phoning the cottage company again although she's never been able to get through before now. I don't know how, legally, they can keep any of our money if it's not possible for us to get to the cottage or stay there!

Delta1 · 27/05/2020 06:09

@RubberDinghyRapids ooo I missed that. Are we the dangerous Baffoon cult?! I haven't seen greysparkles on here but I'd say she's one of us!

Dowser · 27/05/2020 06:48

I’m pretty sure my dd applied for a passport renewal for her son fairly recently.
No compassionate grounds here.
Can’t Remember the how long it took , but they weren’t in a hurry they have no plans.

Dowser · 27/05/2020 07:07

In the light of the DC scandal, I understand some police forces are having to examine any cases where fines were dished out For parents where are a childcare issue may have been at the root of it.

The way Children’s education has been thrown on the scrap heap, I think there should be a petition to repay any fines back to parents whose children were taken from school for a holiday.
How it was bogged up, about how their education would suffer and other blah di blah rubbish, when quite honestly the suffering they are having now, more than supercedes that.

It would make me very angry, if I’d been forced to pay the fine or even worse been taken to court.

Weedsnseeds1 · 27/05/2020 07:37

@shinynewapple2020, I wouldn't bother with Weston at the moment, the natives are too hostile ( particularly if you have an accent that may betray you).
Try Clevedon ( where the toilets are open) or Burnham instead, which are far more day tripper friendly at the moment!

FrankieKnuckles · 27/05/2020 07:42

Cyprus in August please 🙏🏽

RubberDinghyRapids · 27/05/2020 07:46

Delta Dangerous buffoons wasn't directed as us specifically, but was sent in the direction of someone who definitely felt similarly on another thread.

Drivingdownthe101 · 27/05/2020 07:49

I posted a few times on the ‘dangerous buffoon’ thread but went to bed before I saw how it progressed Grin. Woke up to the deletion message.
I wanted to suggest that maybe the OP should get herself back to school when they reopened but thought it wouldn’t go down well.

Whistle73 · 27/05/2020 08:01

Joining Grin

Off to the Canary Islands in August to a villa complex. They phoned me yesterday to say they were open already and welcoming Brits so if our flights are flying we will be going! Prepared to quarantine if necessary as will probably still be wfh then anyway, but hoping that scheme will quickly get shelved come July.

DominaShantotto · 27/05/2020 08:04

Looks like I missed some fun then.

I have no idea how I’m going to get to uni next year if they’re social distancing on the trains to the level they’re talking about, normally it’s standing room only anyway. I can’t see me finishing my degree because of the fucking corona cult
