Even if it means 2 weeks of quarantine Grin
The anti -dementors are here to be reasonable and sensible about everything.

Hurray! Dcs friend's mum is not dementor

DianneWhatcock · 26/05/2020 22:24

@Mascotte

Hooray!! I am jealous though ...Sadly all my dc friends parents are dementors Sad

BogRollBOGOF · 26/05/2020 22:40

It's a common problem from what I hear from parents with younger DCs at our school.

They can be a little bit too hands on with schooling anyway.

99victoria · 26/05/2020 22:41

We were in Costa Rica when the UK went into lockdown and we were told we had to come home as soon as we could. It was annoying as there were virtually no cases in CR at the time but the travel company said they couldn't continue to transport us to our remaining locations as the FCO were now saying we shouldn't travel. We ended up having to return to the capital 5 days early and hunker down in a city hotel until we could get through to BA to book flights home. At least we had a week there and visited 3 amazing locations.

We have flights booked to Greece for the start of July but we have accepted that we won't be going - Greece have already said they won't be accepting UK tourists just yet.

My son is supposed to be getting married at a chateau in France in September so I really hope we can go and that all the quarantines have been dropped by then. We have flights booked but I would be prepared to go by tunnel and drive. I know some of the family won't be able to come due to health conditions and age but if we are allowed to go, we'll be going!

DianneWhatcock · 26/05/2020 22:42

@BogRollBOGOF

Yes it seems to be Sad

Luckily though my eldest is 14 so I've been encouraging him out alone to meet his Friends

TheGreatWave · 26/05/2020 22:44

I have just done a survey for Travelodge about travel post-lockdown. I actually quite struggled with the answers to some of the questions because I just hadn't considered them necessary.

Things like housekeeping coming in your room (yes or no), hand sanitiser (probably a good idea), extra cleaning in high traffic areas (good idea), extra cleaning in room (no)

Then breakfast - disposable cutlery, plates, tables at a certain distance apart, the only thing I said was a good idea was plated cooked breakfasts - the hot buffets aren't great at the best of times. It just seemed a whole list of things that I hadn't even considered. A bit like a post about going to mend a parent's washing machine - I put that I had done it, then lots of others said yes as long as you air the room, wash the door handles, clean everything - I didn't do any of that (well I cleaned, but that because it needed to be actually cleaned)

I am not sure if I am just too lax or everyone else is too intense.

Mascotte · 26/05/2020 22:48

@DianneWhatcock I'm so happy! My poor child needs to see a child, a boy, someone other than me! And she's suggested coffee for us too. Maybe things are looking up!

Dowser · 26/05/2020 22:52

If whitby hasn’t got much open by then, I bet Scarborough has and it’s only 30 mins away by car
My dil lives in york and it’s dead there apparently , so I’d avoid there for now

Pertella · 26/05/2020 22:54

Boy you guys can blether Grin

WotsitWiggle · 26/05/2020 22:54

I lost my Easter holiday to Abu Dhabi, and my half term holiday to Cyprus - should be sunning myself right now.

As soon as companies say when they are flying again, and where to, I'm booking for the summer hols. If we have to quarantine when we get back, sobeit - DD will be off school anyway, and both DH and I have been wfh for the past 10 weeks with no prospects of offices opening up to everyone in the immediate future.

Dowser · 26/05/2020 22:55

I did that survey too great wave
The place we stay in wales is always spotless.
My friend in Dorset has a couple of holiday cottages ( not near the coast though) I wonder when shes letting again

Dowser · 26/05/2020 22:57

99victoria..oooh I hope it’s dick and angels chateau 🤞

Dowser · 26/05/2020 23:03

Rubber dinghy
Dh and I rarely watch regular telly.
All those stupid wanky ads drive us bonkers
We just sit shouting ..fuck off..at the screen

We’ve never watched one news programme ever, or one briefing
We just do our own thing

I’m getting fed up of being asked ..how are you getting on with staying in
Err, who’s stayed in?
My daughter nearly fell about laughing when she asked what I did yesterday and I told her I drove to the lakes..just two hours away.
Very therapeutic

Dowser · 26/05/2020 23:08

Rookiemere, a couple of days into lockdown , I drove the 40 mins to our fave farm shop the other side of Durham.
How awful in your country to worry about being stopped by the police and asked what your doing when you are driving impeccably.

I passed 12 police cars that day. That is my record so far.
Me and dh felt a bit like bonnie and Clyde that day

Dowser · 26/05/2020 23:10

Have you all gone to bed lol?
I need too
Need to have an early night..that lakes trip wore me out a bit

RubberDinghyRapids · 26/05/2020 23:12

Strayed onto a thread I shouldn't have read Confused I used to like this site because the posters were articulate and witty. What the fuck happened?

justasking111 · 26/05/2020 23:12

A lot of people have removed their rental properties from airbnb in Wales. Been checking my friend has two they are missing at the moment. I think you just need to keep checking.

PickAChew · 26/05/2020 23:17

DH gone to bed. DS1 buggered off to his room. Just watched an episode of killing eve and the latest home tasking.

Pertella · 26/05/2020 23:18

Just to prewarn that tomorrow might be dementor central once the figures are released.

They normally drop over the weekends and then jump slightly on a tuesday due to the reporting lag. As this has been a bank holiday weekend there is likely to be a larger than normal jump in deaths.

littlbrowndog · 26/05/2020 23:19

Just seen on the news that a double decker bus will only be able to have 18 people on it

That’s Scotland by way and it was first bus guy speaking.

I can’t even imagine how that will even work. He said the buses will carry 75% less passengers each bus

How will kids get to school and people to work

Bonkers

justasking111 · 26/05/2020 23:24

1 person for 4 seats on buses in Glasgow, wow that is beyond dementor.

justasking111 · 26/05/2020 23:30

Anyone still watching the worldmeter. I have friends in USA so keep an eye on them amazingly their figures are coming down fast, much faster than the UK did. I wonder why that is.

www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

Pertella · 26/05/2020 23:32

I think in the US a lot of their cases were in relatively smaller pockets of high population densities (e.g. new york) so theres less 'spread' to control IYSWIM.

Pinkflipflop85 · 26/05/2020 23:37

@RubberDinghyRapids I think I accidentally started reading the same thread.

RubberDinghyRapids · 26/05/2020 23:50

Pink between that and the MNetters lusting over Raab I've totally lost faith in the world!
