It is indeed crap Cardigans, but don't be sorry (well I mean be sorry for mum, but be buggered to overlooking one post out of 896!)

I think if your friend's been shielding, and her friend's been sat at home furloughed on house arrest, they're probably well out of peril by now... I mean I might say "was that a great idea?" but I guess it's her shout really. I imagine she was going crackers in splendid isolation and he was probably as safe as she could get!

Drivingdownthe101 · 29/05/2020 20:32

I loved The Good Place!
Cattermole that is truly awful Sad. Glad your mum had you advocating for her.

ilovecardigans if he hasn’t been seeing anyone then I can’t see it’s doing a huge amount of harm. She’s obviously prepared to take the risk so up to her really!

Drivingdownthe101 · 29/05/2020 20:33

Plus I reckon if I lived alone and was shielding I’d probably want a ‘house guest’ too. She’s probably going insane with boredom and loneliness.

ilovecardigans · 29/05/2020 20:33

@SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito she's been shielding for at least the last 6 weeks. She invited him to come and stay with her 2 weeks ago. That's why I'm a bit Hmm.

Granted, there is no risk of CV now that 2 weeks have passed.

RunningNinja79 · 29/05/2020 20:34

Evening everyone.

Not caught up yet so apologies for missing anything.

Thinking of driving an hour tomorrow to go to the coast. The car parks are open, but I'm not sure about toilet or if there will be any chance of buying food or ice cream. This alone makes me a little nervous, but we'll be OK wont we?

ilovecardigans · 29/05/2020 20:36

why are you bothered about what others are doing and do you really think that the fact that the two of them are now in the same house makes any difference to anything?

@YouCanBeMyWingmanAnyday. I probably shouldn't. It probably doesn't. Thanks for your input.

ThatLibraryMiss · 29/05/2020 20:39

The BBC reckons 7% of the population of England have had the virus, but that's the number who have antibodies. I thought we knew that some people fight it with T lymphocytes? Anyway, they're using it to suggest that there's no herd immunity therefore MORE LOCKDOWN (of course).

Springersrock · 29/05/2020 20:41

Evening

Had a shit day at work today, so gave up and fucked off home early with a serious case of the TFI Fridays

Then realised that I was actually really happy I’d had a shit day at work as it was ‘normal’.

I was on furlough for about 8 weeks and every day just became blur-day

Cattermole that’s awful, sorry you’re both having to deal with that, hope the stronger painkillers help

ilovecardigans · 29/05/2020 20:41

@Drivingdownthe101, yeah it's her risk not mine. I have no idea whether he's been seeing anyone or not, but that's up to her I guess.

Cattermole · 29/05/2020 20:43

Thanks, peeps. She was much happier when I left her.

We're hoping to go on a murderous rampage tomorrow to our local greengrocers in the village and buy dangerous fruit, if the meds work.

Cattermole · 29/05/2020 20:44

@Springersrock is POETS Day still a thing?
Piss Off Early Tomorrow's Saturday....

ilovecardigans · 29/05/2020 20:47

Thanks@Cattermole. She does live alone, but her parents live a short walk away so she sees them most days. She also has neighbours either side. But I guess it's nice to have someone to talk to of a night time.

Springersrock · 29/05/2020 20:48

@Cattermole. It was a thing today.

It all went to shit this morning when I set the fire alarms off with burnt toast and couldn’t find the key to turn it off, and just got worse

It did improve at about 4:30 so I took it as a win and fucked off home

ThatLibraryMiss · 29/05/2020 20:51

Small Dog and I went for a lovely walk this afternoon, along a valley filled with ancient woodland with a beautiful clear beck running along the bottom. There were at least half a dozen rope swings over branches (not new) and it was heartening to see how many families were playing on them, no hand sanitizer or Keep Off tape in sight.

There was a lot of wild garlic. Anyone got a recipe?

WithIcePlease · 29/05/2020 20:52

Running ninja
I think you'll be ok for ice cream, coffee, food
From what I can gather from areas of the country I know of, small food outlets are opening if they can
Definitely full meals available to eat out here and other places I've heard of from family and friends
Public toilets reopening here on Monday
May be different in some northern areas with higher rates though

ilovecardigans · 29/05/2020 20:53

I have one for wild garlic pesto, but I'll need to hunt it out! Never been brave enough to use it mind...

Watched Honey I Shrunk the Kids last night!

I got the trilogy on DVD and we have watched them all. Whilst the set has dated the storyline hasn't really and the kids loved them, even the 14 year old.

Went for fish and chip tea, it was lush. Lovely conversation in the queue with a woman telling me where to go for the beach. Kids jumping in the river (the youth really aren't doing social distancing), it just felt normal and lovely.

Cattermole · 29/05/2020 21:03

@ThatLibraryMiss a few years ago Riverford sent out bags of wild garlic with their veg boxes. The week after they had to issue an apology cos what they'd actually sent out was bluebell leaves... Hmm

Bloody hells, bluebells are poisonous. You'd think it'd be pretty obvious that it wasn't wild garlic. That stuff smells pretty strong.

Cattermole · 29/05/2020 21:10

That was what I thought - I mean we have a garden full of the damn stuff and every time I let the cat in it makes me peckish!
I think some people were actually mildly poorly. This must be going back 15-20 years now mind...

countrygirl99 · 29/05/2020 21:11

I've had the most wonderful evening. Our favourite proper Italian pizza restaurant is doing takeaways so we took some bottles of beer and a picnic blanket, picked up a couple of pizzas and had a picnic by the river. It was the first time I've been in town since the middle of March. I saw more people this evening than I have in all that time. I lay back and just listened to the buzz, Igot quite emotional and I'm not a people person. I did manage to refrain from running up to random people and hugging them.

fartingsparkles · 29/05/2020 21:14

@Cattermole that's awful! Your poor mum :(

Had a lovely afternoon sitting in a friend's garden

ilovecardigans · 29/05/2020 21:15

I'm glad you had a lovely evening @countrygirl99 Last time we 'spoke' you sounded so down.

Willow2017 · 29/05/2020 21:25

Cattermole hope the meds work and your mum gets some rest tonight and her outing tomorrow. Sciatica sucks. They have treated her appallingly.

Went shopping and then to beach again today, dragged ds2 along. Glorious. Paddled (brr but fab) families paddling, playing, flying kites but loads of room between everyone. Got an ice cream too.

Ha ha i remember POETS Day😀
