Brilliant news for you, Genie.

SpnBaby1967 · 28/05/2020 14:59

Well done @TrustTheGeneGenie that's amazing news!!! You deserve some good news.

What has NS said for Scotland?

TheGreatWave · 28/05/2020 15:01

I got the bloody job!!!! I might go for voluntary redundancy from my job!

Yay, congratulations, and a huge weight off your mind. I would do a happy dance but that would actually involve moving.

DH has taken the girls for a walk, took some convincing but they have hardly been out, even in the garden. I am currently sat on a picnic rug outside with my laptop working. Luckily I am just mainly pushing emails around.

Littlebelina · 28/05/2020 15:03

Congratulations Trust

DominaShantotto · 28/05/2020 15:04

Well done @TrustTheGeneGenie!

One of the local schools around here is on fire - seems to have been a run of building fires lately - I'm wondering how much bored teens is a factor in it to be honest now.

mightbealittlebitmad · 28/05/2020 15:05

Had a phone call from nursery today to say my 2 year old can start from next week, we planned for him to start in April but obviously that didn't happen. I'm pushing it back until September because I work in a pub so my job is a bit up in the air and I don't want us to stretch ourselves too much if I don't have a job and it makes sense to get him started when his brother goes back to school properly.

I'm having a bit of a stress though that schools won't be back properly by then but surely they need to be? It's not realistic to expect parents to home school half the week and it won't work if parents have jobs.

I'm getting fed up with all the people shouting about how social distancing isn't working anymore, how schools won't ever go back, we will be destined to live a life of misery forever. It's hardly a surprise people are starting to socialise more, it's been nearly 10 weeks, we need to socialise or we go mad. I really think it all just needs to end now, let people make their own decisions, it's unrealistic to expect us to do this long term. I'm not going to be queuing outside the supermarket in the bitter cold and pouring rain and I doubt many people will be.

I emailed school about keyworker childcare but not heard back yet

A load of schools have managed to shut down for the half term so aren't being great on emails this week to be fair.

Yes this. I’ve managed to get the 4yo a few days a week at nursery from Monday (3 rather than our usual 4), but the 8yo is still at home. DH was told today that the cut to his hours will end from Monday - brilliant from a financial perspective, yay! But ARGH it’s going to make the lack of school that much harder than it already is.

The thought of doing this past September makes me want to cry. Quite apart from the impact on DS1 who is really struggling and desperately asking whether there will be holiday camps.

longestlurkerever · 28/05/2020 15:22

That's true Domina! Wasn't really saying they should have replied by now, just a bit nervous waiting for their reply. Hadn't noticed that the guidance had changed- it's now encouraged that you send eligible children back even if they can be cated for at home. Not sure that makes a whole heap of logical sense tbh but i had already decided i no longer have a viable alternative.

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 28/05/2020 15:39

Amazing Genie Congratulations!

littlbrowndog · 28/05/2020 15:56

Great news trust

littlbrowndog · 28/05/2020 15:58

Looks like Scotland has come out of lockdown anyway. Park was rammed roads pretty busy. People out and about enjoying the heatwave 💪💪💪

Pleasedontdothat · 28/05/2020 16:14

Congratulations @TrustTheGeneGenie that’s fantastic news

I was feeling quite cheerful today and then popped round to my sister to drop some shopping off, only to find her in full-on dementor mode (she’s a teacher), bemoaning the ‘fact’ that there’s going to be a second wave - I tried to counteract with a burst of positivity but she wasn’t having any of it ... argghhhhh

BarkandCheese · 28/05/2020 16:23

Well done GeneGenie !

MinesaPinot · 28/05/2020 16:23

Excellent news Genie congratulations!

fartingsparkles · 28/05/2020 16:38

Fab news @GeneGenie!! Really pleased for you!

I am on a very short fuse today - not sure why. I can't even be arsed making dcs go in the garden. I'd feel really hypocritical anyway because I don't want to - it's like a furnace! I don't do sun/heat.

Ds is happy watching tv, playing on the tablet, doing lego. Have made him tidy room up a bit. Dd is at the age when she just follows me everywhere. I live them both massively, but it's basically been them and me for 10 weeks and were all getting a bit browned off now!! I am currently hiding in the kitchen about to empty the dishwasher while they are in the living room. We went for a little walk before. Might get ds to water the garden later. He likes doing that.
