The BBC not expecting us to be allowed on beaches in Wales if they lift some restrictions tommorow- nor anything about Welsh schools.

So maybe grass sitting is all it will be - we'll have to wait till tommorow to find out.

Allflightscancelled · 28/05/2020 12:51

Though actually I DO know why the tide turned against DH. He had a mental health episode last autumn and needed a couple of weeks off...

LivinLaVidaLoki · 28/05/2020 12:52

Just had a Facebook dementor claiming our local r number is 1.6
Fuck off is it. There are less than a thousandth of the towns population currently infected and a chunk of those are in care homes and hospitals. But no, a random Facebook source puts a swish graph on their page and boom! Everyone screaming to be locked down again. Fucking hell.

Springersrock · 28/05/2020 12:53

Sorry to hear about the redundancies. It so shit. Sadly, we’re considering it at work too. One definitely, possibly more on the shop floor.

Unless there’s some kind of miracle if stuff starts to open on the 4th July, we just can’t see any other way. From Easter until September is when we make the money to see us over winter.

With a recession predicted we just don’t see that people will have the money to spend, or will want to spend on big ticket, luxury items.

Furlough is helping but I think it’s just delaying the inevitable unfortunately

@TrustTheGeneGenie - speak to ACAS, I’m doing everything by the book, the owner’s son will go into the pool along with everyone else.

BarkandCheese · 28/05/2020 12:54

I’ve just had a lovely murderous rampage to The Range, the first time I’ve been to a shop just to browse since lockdown. I bought a totally unnecessary mindfulness colouring book and coloured pencils plus because our branch sell Iceland food a load of lovely beige freezer crap and fake Cornettos.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 28/05/2020 13:00

I think if they don't announce something about schools in wales, they'll be murder! Local schools by the border are opening on 15 June. Some welsh pupils go to English schools (my DD due to start English high school in sept).

The welsh govt is a farce I did not vote for.

This Saturday, we will all go to England to visit my sister and be dammed.

Springersrock · 28/05/2020 13:01

I do love The Range for a murderous rampage.

Our cat is a fussy bugger and The Range is the closest shop that sells the large boxes of the only brand of cat food he’ll eat.

I make sure my cat food is on full display in my trolley full of other random shit in case of lurking dementors

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 28/05/2020 13:01

And why not do local lockdowns in wales?!

Are they suggesting if there's a local outbreak the WHOLE of Wales will lock down again?!

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 28/05/2020 13:07

Real qn: why don't we ask the South Koreans for their app and use it?!

enjoyingSun · 28/05/2020 13:11

We're on the border but mine go to welsh schools - I'm most worried about the Y10 especially as I don't think her school is stepping up with on-line work.

Though I did yesterday see on BBC that Qualifications Wales is thinking about the situation - the reporting did seem to suggest that was in repsonse to a Y12 student peptitioning the Senedd.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-52813245

DN school in England is only having the Y10 and Y12 back for a few days a week few weeks after the term starts - DN is younger so doesn't affect them but I suspect Sepetmeber they'll all be back and I'm worried September here maybe ours still won't be.

justasking111 · 28/05/2020 13:16

Wales as for not going on beaches, OH went down this morning to fish (legal) after an hour he was joined by folk with dogs splashing in the sea, families with children, splashing in the sea. He pulled in his line worried about a fish hook getting stuck in a dog or child. No police turned up. The ice cream kiosk on Conwy Quay is now open so you can go for a womble and get an ice. Whatever Drakeford is saying folk are nodding yes and doing no. Tis great to see.

Bollss · 28/05/2020 13:17

Thanks everyone. I will speak to ACAS if it appears they've done it unfairly.

I had a job interview yesterday so if I get that it won't matter but I just don't know!

BirdieFriendReturns · 28/05/2020 13:19

We’ve been told we aren’t going back to work this YEAR! FFS! I WANT to go in!

fartingsparkles · 28/05/2020 13:19

Sorry to all those facing redundancy. Its shit. @GeneGenie it should be done fairly :(

Just had a msg from a friend, saying she can't wait til we can all see one another again. Everyone is at the end of their rope now I think.

I know of 2 people who have had c19, a london based couple. (I know the wife online from an old forum - so never actually met them). She was able to stay at home, her husband was hospitalized and given oxygen but not ventilated. Was out after just less than a week and is recovering. I know many people who think they might have had before it was 'known'. The only lockdown death I have known is that of my bil, who died very suddenly. Still not sure what happened, but it wasn't c19.

Khione · 28/05/2020 13:24

I have a friend who works in the funeral industry, his company has the local authority contract for collecting bodies when there is nothing in place. They fairly regularly collect the bodies of people who have committed suicide but this has doubled over the past couple of months but he hasn't had to collect one who has died with Covid (although his company has a few). The only one that may have been Covid had been dead for at least 5 days before they were found.

justasking111 · 28/05/2020 13:38

Our health board turfed out 1700 mental health cases because of covid. No wonder the suicides are up.

So actually feeling quite positive after the Scottish announcement. Being able to eat bbq food in the same garden as others was more than I expected and many businesses are already revving up to be opened again. This morning I drove to Cramond beach again ( 10 miles rather than 5 but who's counting) and did my parkrun route as I'm off work today. The weather is glorious- I managed to sunburn my feet and ankles yesterday so need to exercise a bit of caution.

The only sad note was DS 14 asking if he could now play football with his mates and have his wifi on weeknights until 11pm because apparently everyone else does . I said officially no, but if he found some others willing to do it and found a quiet spot, then I would turn a blind eye. There are a lot of conditions before the wifi to 11 R number threshold is met - which is apparently unfair as everyone else is allowed to GrinWink

Shodan · 28/05/2020 13:51

Well, I had my sister and her two youngest over this morning.

Sister and I sat in the garden. Ds2 and his cousins ran around the house, in and out of the garden, laughing. It was so lovely to hear.

Sis whispered that she needed the loo so I told her it was fine so long as she didn't lick the loo seat Grin

I feel much better for the visit and we've agreed to do it again soon.

longestlurkerever · 28/05/2020 13:51

The Scottish road map does look cheering. Really hoping for a bbq reprieve in England later. And playgrounds!

justasking111 · 28/05/2020 13:53

So glad for Scotland, Wales news tomorrow, so another days wait.

Bollss · 28/05/2020 14:00

I got the bloody job!!!! I might go for voluntary redundancy from my job!

I am so relieved. Soooooo relieved. And it's an NHS job so Ds can go back to nursery when I start.

I am so pleased !

enjoyingSun · 28/05/2020 14:01

TrustTheGeneGenie congratulations - sounds better all round.

Bollss · 28/05/2020 14:03

Thank you! It definitely is! I've been thinking of leaving for a while and this has given me the push I needed! Smile

Allflightscancelled · 28/05/2020 14:10

Well done! So very pleased for you! Wine

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 28/05/2020 14:11
