Even if it means 2 weeks of quarantine Grin
The anti -dementors are here to be reasonable and sensible about everything.

We venture out later in the day. My DCs don't spend long in the garden as it's quite an exposed south facing, intense sun trap.

The weather is gorgeous and I don't want to waste it, but I can't think of much to do without being overheated. If only the council paddling pools were open, they'd be perfect!

The DCs have had their second mum hair cuts since lockdown. Good job I had hairdressing scissors anyway. Their hair id similar in behaviour to mine, they just basically have a shorter, shaggier version than me Grin

BogRollBOGOF · 28/05/2020 16:47

There's not many shaggy boys round here, so I'm used to spotting them at a distance without glasses. It's much harder when we go to Cornwall!

Drivingdownthe101 · 28/05/2020 16:50

We got out to a country park before lunch for a couple of hours, came home and bbq’d some sausages for lunch (remember when the dementors were telling us we shouldn’t bbq in our own gardens in case somebody nearby had Covid and breathed in the smoke?), then the older two went in the paddling pool for 10 mins before they got bored, now they’re playing upstairs. Just went to pick up a second hand trike for the toddler from one of the school mums. Oh and went to the shop for ice lollies. Proper murder spree today. Gin and tonic and chavvy sex pond later!

DominaShantotto · 28/05/2020 16:51

That's true Domina! Wasn't really saying they should have replied by now, just a bit nervous waiting for their reply.

I fully get that bit - I've refused to let myself fully believe DD2 is going back - it's only the fact she's had like 3 emails from her (very very lovely) teacher saying "see you on Monday" that's let me believe it!

Dementors are salivating elsewhere over the fact the numbers are slightly highish still today coming out of the Bank Holiday, which is obviously because of the VE Day DEATH Congas.

Good to see some discussion on the news about mental health of kids at least though. Finally. And apparently the last Socially Compulsory Clapping tonight - which unfortunately means the idiots are going to be likely to be ridiculous over it.

RunningNinja79 · 28/05/2020 16:55

Congratulations Genie.

I'm not in a great place today. I've been stuck inside all day as I've been working. Due to having 2 screens I can't really take the laptop outside. DH is an automatic sun hider and likes to hide away. I want to go somewhere and have a nice potter. Then again I'm nervous about car parking and toilets if they will be open. I dont really have anyone I can meet either. That is nothing to do with lockdown to be fair.

I'd hope for Boris to say something meaningful tonight, but I think its all been said this week while trying to distract us all from DC. I think I'll just be left disappointed if I hope for too much more. Oooh maybe I should go to Barney this weekend. I only live 10 miles or so away.

On a positive note France seems to be opening up everywhere so another good sign for our holiday in August. It just depends on any quarantine restrictions.

Mascotte · 28/05/2020 16:58

Congrats @TrustTheGeneGenie!

Orangeblossom78 · 28/05/2020 17:00

The heat can be a bit oppressive. We seem to stay in until i can't bear it and the screens any longer then go out for a walk in the park. Apparently the crazy gold has re-opened. Something else I suppose Hmm
Feeling very trapped and tearful today not really sure why as was coping OK until now.

Orangeblossom78 · 28/05/2020 17:01

Crazy golf. Hmm

Mascotte · 28/05/2020 17:06

@Orangeblossom78 some days just seem to get you like that, it's weird. I actually cried yesterday which i never do!

Today has been full on murder: had a cup of tea in someone else's garden. Though I'm now convinced I'm going to die a freak covid death as fate will see me as too gallus. It was nice though.

NothingIsWrong · 28/05/2020 17:09

Currently quietly freaking out. My cleaner came yesterday. Her daughter is in the same class as my youngest so she brought her with her and the girls had a really lovely morning. I'm now paranoid I'm going to be outed as a lockdown breaker and become a social pariah

DianneWhatcock · 28/05/2020 17:14

I am having a terrible day today

DH is furloughed he's a project manager in construction for a prestige house building firm. Many of his colleagues went back 3 weeks ago plus the building site workers etc.

however his boss is being very vague about when DH is going to be wanted back. Haven't heard a peep off his boss for almost 2 weeks

I have a cleaning business but no one wants me back yet so I've no income

On the plus side his boss is topping up his furlough to DHs full salary b it I am fucking terrified he'll get made redundant. He is 50 next year so I doubt he'll ever get a job like that again and as well paid

Would be Everything he's worked for gone. We bought a bigger house last year I can't bear the thought of losing it

I am angry more than anything

I don't know where else to write this -
I can't even say anything to dh

No words DianneW Flowers

bookworm14 · 28/05/2020 17:54

Congratulations GeneGenie, that’s brilliant! Great that your DS can go back to nursery too.

The announcement today about groups of six meeting outdoors is good I suppose, but what about those of us whose families live a long way away? I can’t drive 80 miles just to sit in my parents’ garden (I’m not Dominic Cummings, after all). 🙄

AnxiousElephant77 · 28/05/2020 17:55

My mum and dad are 2 hours away, I'm not driving there to sit in the garden. I don't think it is particularly good news. From what I can tell, people have been doing this anyway.

Bollss · 28/05/2020 17:59

Sorry to hear that @DianneWhatcock Sad it's very worrying isn't it. Hope you both get some good news soon Flowers

SpnBaby1967 · 28/05/2020 18:08

They asked about the use of the toilet and all they said was basically "use common sense and wash your hands" so I guess that's a way of saying that it's fine.

Still, I've already been having my mum in my garden so nothing much has changed there.

SpnBaby1967 · 28/05/2020 18:09

Although can get some of my fellow black belts together for some outdoor training so that's good.

TheGreatWave · 28/05/2020 18:15

My 14 year old already has plans to meet up, I've told her that they are welcome to come and be in our garden, I'd rather that than be twisted about on FB by the people who overlook the green spaces.

longestlurkerever · 28/05/2020 18:18

Is pretty limited as concessions go. Still helps adults much more than families. I can go and sit in the park with mates but kids still can't really play

bookworm14 · 28/05/2020 18:21

The dismissal of children’s rights and needs has been one of the more depressing aspects of this whole shitshow.

Drivingdownthe101 · 28/05/2020 18:23

Exactly. My 16 month old cant be expected to stay 2m away from granny, so can he not see her? My 4 year old wouldn’t be able to play 2m away from her friends either.
BarkandCheese · 28/05/2020 18:24

Oh ffs. A couple of days ago someone was being given a hard time because they wanted to take their child on a picnic and meet up with one other person and their child. Now that’s no longer against the rules someone whose eleven month old would make a group up to seven is being given a hard time for wanting to break da roolz. It’s never going to end is it? If we’re allowed to socialise in groups of a hundred and someone wants a hundred and one in their party they are still going to get called a murderer and asked why they’re so special.

Drivingdownthe101 · 28/05/2020 18:27

As long as there are any forms of restrictions in place, the dementors are going to divert their attention to anyone they see as ‘flouting the rules’ BarkandCheese.

We are a household of 5. To have my dad and step mum round it makes 7. Like fuck am I going to make them come one at a time!

AnxiousElephant77 · 28/05/2020 18:27

It really does feel a bit like it's never going to end at this point. Then I saw Beth Rigby had tweeted some nonsense about Vallance looking like he wasn't very happy about easing in any capacity. She really is the Chief Dementor.

MinesaPinot · 28/05/2020 18:30

We've just had to turn the BBC news off. Whilst the briefing was encouraging they went straight into Dementor mode showing 'the War against Coronavirus', the scientific editor showing a graph and talking about a second wave. They just cannot help themselves and have to accentuate the negative.
