Even if it means 2 weeks of quarantine Grin
The anti -dementors are here to be reasonable and sensible about everything.

What is the Norwegian analysis please?

LivinLaVidaLoki · 27/05/2020 18:46

Thats what I thought @OnItCarBonnet

Drivingdownthe101 · 27/05/2020 18:52

So track and trace...
You’ve got a holiday booked. 24 hours before you’re due to go, you get a call to say you’ve been in contact with someone who has tested positive and you need to self isolate. Will your insurance company pay out? I doubt it.

Drivingdownthe101 · 27/05/2020 19:01

Track and trace is relying predominantly on honesty and goodwill... after the shit show of the last 10 weeks I’m not sure people have much of that left.

dingit · 27/05/2020 19:01

And now we are wasting money on a track and trace system that probably won't work, but should have had in place at the get go. Angry

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 27/05/2020 19:08

I have zero goodwill left. I will not download the app, if it autodownloads I will delete it. If I can't delete it I'll leave my phone at home.

I'm also going to look into booking a holiday abroad for the first time in 7 years, probably over this winter. We can't afford it but screw it. Will take DD out of school - either every day counts, or it doesn't. And like fuck am I going to let any track and trace app have the chance of fucking that up.

Mrsfrumble · 27/05/2020 19:09

Oh my god @longestlurkerever, we’re neighbours! That goodness I never heard that even though we’re really close to the park. How dystopian Confused

BeltaneBride · 27/05/2020 19:10

Not is you are tracked and traced! Basically we will all be on tenterhooks now because any plans we make might implode if we are found to have been near a person who tested positive and have to isolate for 14 days... 🙁

BeltaneBride · 27/05/2020 19:11

@SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito
You said it! Just how I feel.

Willitneverend · 27/05/2020 19:19

@rookiemere I'm at the opposite end of the country to you. We went to our beach recently and there was a massive Spanish speaking family there. It's not a big town and I'm sure they're not local... maybe I should ask them to smuggle me back to Spain.

All the dementors have unmuted on FB. Do far I have seen:

  • someone clearly annoyed lockdown isn't continuing but wanting someone to fix their fence
  • someone angry that people are in a park because it isn't tomorrow
  • someone annoyed that one of her pals' business has been reported to the police. I am itching to reply pointing out that it's an inevitable result of folk scare mongering.

Purchase a Roomba. Download app on old phone with payg sim.
Tape phone to Roomba, switch on when you go out, so it moves around...

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 27/05/2020 19:26

If anyone is bored in lockdown can I recommend the podcast ‘power corrupts’? I found it fascinating and definitely some warnings to heed.

longestlurkerever · 27/05/2020 19:33

wave mrs frumble! It was there all Easter weekend interrupting my mental well-being daily exercise as well as hearing it as a spooky dystopian echo from my garden. Then it thankfully went on tour and i could only hear it periodically. It's now presumably on furlough but it's still parked in the park.

Finally made a decision that i am at the end of my tether and kids are going to keywoker school next week. Dd1 is an overemotional ball of temper like I've never seen her before and it can't go on. She has gone apoplectic with rage at the idea. She hates me, I'm the worst person ever, all her friends will think she's weird. Etc. This is the girl who cried her eyes out when school closed as we had finally got her properly settled and in a good place after some turbulent times. Fml.

countrygirl99 · 27/05/2020 19:35

Basic burner phone for emergency contacts sounds like a good idea

RubberDinghyRapids · 27/05/2020 19:38

Walked past the school DD will most likely go to in a few years' time today. Red tape over all the 'play' equipment. But not the seating. Like they only had to close off the 'fun' stuff. I hope to fuck it's guidance they've been sent and not what they've decided to do themselves.

I'm very eager to know what the communication from the local schools has been in volume and (most importantly) tone. DD won't go to school for some time yet but this will definitely influence my decision on where to send her,

Khione · 27/05/2020 19:41

Love it

To be fair it doesn't sound like they are using the ap but like VD contact tracing - so it's not going to be that reliable. - Although you don't need to get that close to them.

If, for example, I spent the evening with a friend, and within a few days they tested positive, I would want to know and I'd be happy to be even more vigilant not to get too close to anyone for the next 14 days.

If you are only traced after you have spent more than 15 minutes close, why is there any need to do more than make sure - if you've been T&Td to make sure you are not in close contact with anyone (for anything like 15 minutes) and avoid shops and other indoor public places

rookiemere · 27/05/2020 19:42

Annoying dementor on friends FB feed asking what it feels like on day 5982 of lockdown. Person has responded "Not bored just skint and concerned about my future. The lockdown which is not a lockdown, (Spain and Italy had a lockdown) does not bother me actually."

So we aren't having a lockdown? Confusing to me as all the bars, restaurants , car parks to local walks etc etc appear to be shut. So it's definitely not BAU. I remember at the start being very worried that we'd not be allowed to go out at all like Italy and Spain, and the fact we were at all kept me going for a few weeks. But it's certainly not normal life.

ThatLibraryMiss · 27/05/2020 19:56

Ten bastard weeks we have bee like this [...] Countries that have been much worse than us have gone from being in lockdown to being out of it [...] why on earth are we being so fucking slow when levels of infection in the community aren't even enough to be classed as an epidemic anymore?

And there are still people who think there'll be a second wave this winter but it could have been avoided if we'd locked down "properly", with borders closed, "like other countries did". I don't know how long they think we'd have to be locked down with no contact with the rest of the world before it became "safe". Until everyone else was either dead or vaccinated, maybe, since in their world everyone gets CV-19 and no-one recovers.

ilovecardigans · 27/05/2020 19:58

May I recommend the Twitter feed of David Paton - Prof of Industrial Economics at Nottingham University Business School? An oasis of common sense in the raging torrent of insanity that appears to be still frothing away in the rest of Twatterland.

This is how I'm mostly feeling today...

We're all going on a summer holiday
countrygirl99 · 27/05/2020 19:58

I just feel sad this evening. I need something to look forward to and my eyes keep leaking

DominaShantotto · 27/05/2020 19:59

DD2 who hasn't been sleeping at all absolutely ripped into me tonight (this kid does not lose her temper easily - she's normally incredibly placid and easy going) that she hates everything and can't go to sleep because she just wants to play with her friends and it's all your fault.

Drivingdownthe101 · 27/05/2020 20:00

Just booked a ridiculously expensive lodge in Devon for August.
Just won’t go near anyone for the 14 days before we go!

TheGreatWave · 27/05/2020 20:03

It feels like another way to throw money down the drain.

Or making our rich mates richer.

ilovecardigans · 27/05/2020 20:07

Can we help at all @countrygirl99?

Sorry you are feeling sad. Flowers

ThatLibraryMiss · 27/05/2020 20:09

PM "I don't believe public will not respond to new guidelines"

Why not? Your own fucking advisor didn’t do too well with the last ones.

The idea is, you get symptoms, you self isolate, you get a test and if that test is positive then those persons "contacts" will be contacted to self isolate.

How are they going to check that a test is positive and not just some arse thinking it’s dead funny to claim to have been travelling on the Northern Line and now have CV? Or to try to shut down a local business?
