Even if it means 2 weeks of quarantine Grin
The anti -dementors are here to be reasonable and sensible about everything.

See I don't think "local lockdowns" will last that long because how can they? Surely it's just an opportunity to track and trace and find the cluster if you like?

HauntedGoatFart · 27/05/2020 16:55

My DC and I really need a beach to flock to. Anyone got ideas for somewhere we could feasibly drive to and park from West London? I promise to think dangerously buffoonish thoughts on the way.

BogRollBOGOF · 27/05/2020 16:56

Hopefully if there are local lockdowns, the infrastructure and systems are all in place to get everything opened back up again. First time round it's taken time to write policies and riskassesments and get additional equipment in such as screens.

BogRollBOGOF · 27/05/2020 16:58

With the choice of "local" beaches being Skeg or Wales, I'm holding on the beaches for now Grin

justasking111 · 27/05/2020 16:59

DS turned up with GCs, we had two hours in the garden, running around put the hosepipe attachment on mist, made rainbows, they ran round and round getting damp in the mist laughing. Bought out the garden toys had so much fun. Daddy sent us a picture of them absolutely conked out asleep on the sofa half an hour later with rosy cheeks. So he is happy. Peace for a bit Grin

Todays figures, really not so bad considering the bank holiday hiatus from counting.

NHS England today recorded 183 Covid-19 fatalities in hospitals, while Scotland registered 13 deaths, Wales 11 and Northern Ireland two from all locations, including care homes.

justasking111 · 27/05/2020 17:03

Think I have achieved a small victory. A welsh/english tourism group 80k members on FB, has got worse and worse, knuckle dragging dementors saying tourists should stay away but not in nice terms.

It was so bad the other day I said how do I report racist remarks on here. Someone told me how to do it. I thought well will do later when I get time. When I went back that post and many others had been completely deleted. So all the nasty stuff has been cleansed presumably by admin.

NothingIsWrong · 27/05/2020 17:06

Currently waiting in a queue to give plasma. I had symptoms back in March, was quite unwell for a few days so hopefully there are some antibodies in there that might help someone :-)

Theluggage15 · 27/05/2020 17:07

@HauntedGoatFart yes I just read that article about Norway.

That data looks the same for many countries, Ferguson and his team got it very wrong I believe. Norway are being brave doing this review. I wonder whether other countries will, they should be made to, considering the devastation the lockdown has caused and will carry on causing even if it was lifted completely tomorrow.

Springersrock · 27/05/2020 17:10

@BarkandCheese

On the dog groomer front - she’s coming on Friday. Yay!!

My dog groomer reopened not a minute too soon. The poor dog was starting to look like the bastard offspring of a porcupine and a tribble. I’d highly recommend some dog grooming round tipped scissors for between grooms. My dog gets armpit and behind the eat knots too, they seem to appear out of nowhere, one day she’s knot free and the next she’s knot city.

Ooh, fancy quote function now. Is that new?

I’ve got some of those scissors but the little sod won’t stay still so I cut the worst of it off in the 0.02 seconds she’ll sit on my lap. She looks a mess

I spend hours picking bits out of her but the ear mats appear from nowhere

She’s an angel for the groomer though

Weedsnseeds1 · 27/05/2020 17:15

My next door neighbours have got a babysitter in and gone out for a fish and chip night.
Who would have thought such an oasis of subversiveness could peacefully coexist a few miles from dementor central aka Weston Super Mare 😁

longestlurkerever · 27/05/2020 17:20

I live in London but on the boundary of three boroughs and work in a fourth. Local lockdown would be a logistical mission, unless whole of London treated as one. People cross borders for work, school, shopping, everything. Our council is pretty dementory. They have an apocalypsemobile with alarm bells and shouty voice they parked in my hearing range for the whole of easter weekend. Bet they'd jump at the chance of getting that back out.

My neighbour talked about Seaford beach being generally quiet, though pebbly, haunted, though i don't know it. If you find one let me know.

BarkandCheese · 27/05/2020 17:24

Springers how do they even get those behind the ear knots? The armpit ones are obviously from friction but the ear ones are a total mystery.

Springersrock · 27/05/2020 17:27

Barkandcheese god knows, we don’t get arm pit mats, but the ears are the bane of my life.

They’re quite long and floppy, so I guess the hair just tangles as it grows.

That sounds amazing!!!
Drivingdownthe101 · 27/05/2020 17:29

Spent the afternoon in my mums garden. First proper lockdown breach! Even went in to use her loo, as did DD1.
It was bliss!

Gammeldragz · 27/05/2020 17:48

Picked DD up from her friend's garden (they'd been in the hottub), apparently her neighbours threatened to call the police because of all the happy squealing... Clearly dementors live there!

The mum wasn't put off though and has invited her back another day. Dangerous buffons will triumph over the dementors!

HauntedGoatFart · 27/05/2020 17:49

Proper jell! I volunteered for the plasma trial but as I was never tested they turned me down. Grin

I think one productive thing we can do is agitate for a review of lockdown similar to Norway's. We have to ask the question of whether it was justified, and whether its effects were worse than the virus.

Mrsfrumble · 27/05/2020 17:50

An apocalypsemobile Shock sounds hellish. We’re also on the border of 3 London boroughs, and DC’s school (if they ever get to go back to it) is in a different one to our flat.

I unfollowed the only dementor on my Facebook. I’d been ignoring her, but then she posted a petition to make face masks outside the home compulsory by law and I thought “fuck that!”

I took DS to the park this morning to climb trees and ride his bike in the skate park, which has reopened. As have the tennis and basketball courts; everything but the play area and the toilets. Why do children’s interests always come last?

KaronAVyrus · 27/05/2020 17:51

Just ventured in to a dementor thread. Apparently we’ll be in lockdown over winter. 🤦‍♀️ Love to know how the country is going to afford all this.

shinynewapple2020 · 27/05/2020 17:55

@Weedsnseeds1 thanks for the tips re Clevedon / Burnham

LivinLaVidaLoki · 27/05/2020 17:57

"I know you're going to make a sacrifice"
Fuck off. I'm getting tired of making sacrifices.
I'm feeling really bloody cross about this, essentially if you dont do it you'll kill grannies and we'll stay in lockdown.
Just fuck off hancock.

AnxiousElephant77 · 27/05/2020 17:58

The local lockdown thing bothers me because it's almost as if we're not going to be able to confidently plan anything.
We've already had 2 holidays cancelled and we've another 3 booked (big year for us), and we're getting married in December.

So we just continue to plan and hope no one we know catches it!!

rookiemere · 27/05/2020 18:01

Just back from a lovely walk by the beach. Strictly speaking we shouldn't be there - even after tomorrow- as it's more than 5 miles away from home - Cramond beach for those in Scotland. It was bloody gorgeous, groups of people congregating - strangely loads of Europeans - an ice cream van and even some folk with a disposable bbq. It all felt so normal and wonderful at the same time. It's where I do my local parkrun - wonder if parkrun will ever be allowed again - and I guess one good thing about this is having not seen the sea for 9/10 weeks I don't think I'll ever take that view for granted again.

I feel like a sponge that's soaked in some positive energy. I may go back and do the parkrun loop tomorrow and/or visit a local restaurant that has announced its doing takeaway from tomorrow.

Dowser · 27/05/2020 18:04

What’s this about local lockdowns?
Tell me you’re joking.
I wouldn’t trust my local council to organise a piss up in our local brewery.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 27/05/2020 18:04

Ten bastard weeks we have bee like this and now if we have the misfortune to stand behind someone queueing to get in a supermarket (cos let's face it that's longer than 15 minutes) who's got covid I've to lock myself away again. No. This has gone on long enough.
Countries that have been much worse than us have gone from being in lockdown to being out of it, and I mean out of it, not piddling around with golf and garden centres in 10 weeks. So why on earth are we being so fucking slow when levels of infection in the community aren't even enough to be classed as an epidemic anymore? Its fucking madness.
