@sadie789 I used to run some water in a tub and give dd chopsticks to get them out again!

All 640 schools belonging to the Independent Association of Prep Schools (Iaps) have said they will reopen from June 1 for children in reception, year 1 and year 6 if the government gives the go-ahead this week. They include the Thomas’s group in London, where Prince George and Princess Charlotte are pupils.

Christopher King, Iaps chief executive, said: “We are ready to go and most parents want their children to go back to school.”

3 yr olds like rain and puddles...could go a walk with wellies ;-)

Orangeblossom78 · 24/05/2020 07:53

I found that article on risk very useful and reassuring.

ExpletiveDelighted · 24/05/2020 07:53

Morning, I haven't posted before, if I'm honest the threads move a bit fast for me to keep up with but I dip in and out.

I am enjoying having more chilled out time at home, but am sick of the lack of choice now, the ludicrous "one person" rule (I'm in England) and worried about where this will all end. My DCs have borne this remarkably well but we went for our first day out further than walking distance this week and one of them was SO happy they were literally bouncing for joy at just walking in a favourite place. Both are in school years which won't be prioritised for return and have nothing whatsoever to look forward to. So we have said "bollocks to this" and booked a UK holiday cottage for August - we didn't have anything booked pre-lockdown.

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 24/05/2020 07:58

@DrearyWallAntler - thank you. That was a really sensible article.

For those of you who missed it someone posted this one on the last thread and I’ve kept it open as it’s so sane thecritic.co.uk/were-all-in-the-big-numbers-now/

DominaShantotto · 24/05/2020 07:58

Good morning and welcome to the new people. We may not be shrieking hysterically but we are growing in numbers.

I think Boris and Co just find it very handy now they’ve got us all locked up to be honest. We are so busy bickering and judging others for compliance with the rules we don’t see what the ruling bunch are up to, and the news now is just heartwarming stories like Captain Tom and the fucking clap, so there’s no scrutiny for them. No wonder they don’t want this lifted!

Spudlet · 24/05/2020 08:01

Morning all. Dipping in and out here as I can’t keep up!

We are breaking lockdown tomorrow and taking DS to see FiL. We’ll stay outside and as socially distant as possible. But fuck it. I was a bit worried (I’m a natural rule follower, always have been) but then all this shit about Cummings came out and I watched all the cronies defend him, and now I’m so, so angry. FiL has been suffering awfully in lockdown, all alone and not well (he has ME and has been suffering a bad patch since autumn) and seeing his grandson will be the best tonic we can give. So fuck em all, we’re going.

I haven’t been this angry for ages, I’ve become so numb to all the political crap that’s been going on since 2016. But now I’m raging. Bastards.

Sorry all, not too positive but I’m truly angry about this now.

Comingoutontop123 · 24/05/2020 08:03

Another effect of being locked down - i've developed cubital tunnel syndrome from all the hours and hours spent reading stuff on my 'phone Grin

ISaySteadyOn · 24/05/2020 08:03

Thanks everyone. So a 9 yo should be ok with Jurassic Park then?

@Sadie789, I consider myself a feminist (also SAHM fwiw), but I don't think berating a woman for her individual choices is feminist at all. An analysis of why those choices have been made with regard to society is. The truth is our society is changing and it will affect women and children and we have to look at these changes not ignore them and tell women they are stupid for not being psychic.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 24/05/2020 08:09

Morning all. Today is DD''s 28th birthday and the first one we've spent apart. I did send her flowers, wine and cupcakes yesterday so murdered a couple of delivery drivers and half the golf players who were there yesterday (DD lives above the golf shop on the course....she hates golf but loves the fact that her garden is big enough for an 18 hole course). I think her DP has organised a full roast dinner delivery from the local carvery that is doing takeaway/delivery of Sunday roasts, so he's responsible for the demise of 3 chiefs an at least one more driver.

OutwardBound2016 · 24/05/2020 08:13

Hi all, have missed the last few threads. I have become more vocal in the last week, openly telling anyone and everyone that I think children have been treated terribly in all this. I am on the verge of a falling out with my DB over it but I really don’t care, he doesn’t have a child and wasn’t old enough to be impacted by the 2009 financial crisis.

I am totally open to debate and opinion but I cannot tolerate this attitude that if you don’t agree that we all just sit at home indefinitely you are a murderer. People seem to have become utter twats over this, previously sensible people seem to have totally lost their heads, the speed in which these people have just accepted what the media has told them is more worrying than anything else.

MaudesMum · 24/05/2020 08:15

Morning! I've just found the best non-story on my local Facebook page. Its from the police, who basically spent yesterday evening touring local beauty spots, as they'd heard there was a "gathering". They reported on three different places, and found absolutely nothing and no-one, and finally found a small group of cars in one place and told them all to go home. Is it just me, or was that a terrific waste of police time??

BarkandCheese · 24/05/2020 08:28

Good morning all. We’ll be breaking lockdown next Sunday, we’ve made plans to visit my dad and step mum for a bbq in their garden. My sister and her kids live next door so they’ll be there too. I’m so looking forward to it, I haven’t seen them since February.

DominaShantotto · 24/05/2020 08:48

Just listening to dd2s speech. She’s lost sounds she had been saying clearly before with all the social isolation and dropped into some really immature sound substitutions (we had got to the point we were just working on refining the last few sounds she had to get solid), it’s like she’s jumped back a good stage or so on all the development charts we’ve had thrown at us in lectures. For a child with delayed phonology anyway - that’s catastrophic.

Not had anything from school confirming her bubble group for vulnerable and key workers so still not quite believing that will happen.

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 24/05/2020 08:50

Morning all. Wondering what kind of mass murder I might commit today 🤔

glotterbug · 24/05/2020 08:52

Morning all! So I have a confession, broke lockdown and had my mum round and gave her a hug. She had called my crying earlier on in the day, in pain from an injury she's too scared to go to the docs about, been going on for a few weeks. We were just going to sit in the garden but the weather turned so we all went in side (still plenty of space) and had large g&t! She called me later to say thanks and how she felt better than she had in weeks, I do too. You know what I don't even feel guilty.
This has to end soon, roll on Thursday and Drakford you better make some positive changes!

bulletjournalbilly · 24/05/2020 09:01

Question - so to all the panickers on 2nd wave ...

Where is the spike in deaths and positive tests from V.E day celebrations?

Hmm
LivinLaVidaLoki · 24/05/2020 09:02

I keep asking that question @bulletjournalbilly
It's very quiet....also there appears to be no second spike following the easter weekend everyone was frothing over....

bulletjournalbilly · 24/05/2020 09:06

Exactly @LivinLaVidaLoki .... all hot air bollox!

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 24/05/2020 09:06

Where is the spike in deaths and positive tests from V.E day celebrations

Right?! weirdly, they've gone VERY quiet about that- strange eh?!

bulletjournalbilly · 24/05/2020 09:07

@AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter me too .....Wink

Comingoutontop123 · 24/05/2020 09:07

I thought last weekend was bad with the million school threads and the murderer in the garden centre.

MN has surpassed itself this weekend though. Interim governments being predicted for the end of the week, mass civil disobedience coming, possible riots, and the government/UK about to collapse because an advisor broke lock down guidance.

I don't think much of anything will happen..
