@Hobnobswantshernameback I feel the same. We’ve done so well bringing the rates down in wales but can’t be trusted with any freedom. If Mark Drakeford doesn’t let us out soon I’ll need metal health input. Another cost of the never ending lockdown

countrygirl99 · 25/05/2020 11:30

I couldn't give a monkey's if a poorly Jane/John drives 50 miles to a relative/friend so their child is looked and everyone stays at that house with community support for shopping because the reality is that is low risk. Bugt f you are going g to inflict draconian rules on the rest of society you have to be prepared to live by them yourself. Especially when you have the access to resources that DC had. I'm sure one call would have procured a nearby flat for his parents to take the child to without the need to traipse a sick person the length of the country.

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 25/05/2020 11:32

Morning murderers

I'm amazed - the tide has really turned. There are so many posts with people saying 'can I do x' and most of the responses are 'go for it, have fun, it's low risk' rather than frothing about it killing people. It's lovely to see. I have a bit of an absence of humans I can realistically meet up with (it was my plan to make more friends this year before the world was tipped upside down) but I have joined up for a lovely thing that's happening locally (top secret as it's potentially a bit outing but it's an outdoor sport which a club have decided they're going to crack on with Grin). It starts Wednesday and it will do me so much good. I had an email from my hairdresser too asking to email if you want an appointment so they can crack on as soon as they're allowed. Grin

I keep thinking back to early on in the pandemic - just after lockdown in fact. There was a poor woman who had had complex mental health problems and she was asking on here in AIBU if it was ok to walk round an empty field 2x instead of one each day. I think she paid the farmer to have access so no one else used it. She said it would make a huge difference to how much she went downhill over the following weeks. The thread was full of people saying 'you're fucking killing people' and 'what makes you think you're so fucking special' and even though I wasn't the op, it upset me so much. It was full of aggression. I felt similarly fragile about getting myself through this and had thought about walking 2x a day in a quiet local isolated lane to keep the darkest feelings at bay. Anyway, that woman is in my thoughts a lot and I really hope she's alright now. People should hang their heads in shame. I know they were frightened - we all were - but viruses can't jump across empty fields.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 25/05/2020 11:34

Agreed @waleshasgonecompletelycrazy
And the unwillingness to give any sort of actual structure or plan
I'm not a naughty fucking child
This though is like a torture keeping us dangling
And the playing politics just to go against t Westminster don't get me started

glotterbug · 25/05/2020 11:39

@Hobnobswantshernameback and @waleshasgonecrazy I agree, he needs to release us it's criminal. I really hope Drakeford doesn't take what he thinks is the high horse and leave us in the shit yet again!

Dowser · 25/05/2020 11:40

Oh hobnob
That is just criminal
ThT must be against human rights, surely

Nihiloxica · 25/05/2020 11:45

There's something about Drakeford keeping Wales locked down with no indication of any respite that chills me.

It's like he is flexing his power - showing Johnson that he controls the Welsh.

I would be fucking livid if I was subject to that kind of petty tyranny.

Like Johnson had the power to call a lockdown, but now Drakeford gets to impose it as long as it takes his fancy.

Power is intoxicating. A whole nation not allowed to go anywhere or do anything when their own government has said they can.

WTF?

Sturgeon is also playing games, but I think she's more looking for Jacinda points.

But I guess the outcome is the same for the Scots.

Willow2017 · 25/05/2020 11:51

Orange
Oooh i've been rumbled 🤣🤣🤣Thanks i forgot about that. We could go fossil hunting😀 of course that means my bloody kids would actually have to fecking get up first! Am getting thouroughly pissed off at them this morning.😠

Yep i know coldingham well, not much to do at St Abbs unless you want a walk along cliff tops which i can do here😃 and it has pissed me right off lately as not only was that one direction chaps 'island/fish' video filmed there --and here-' but they filmed part of the last Avengers film there and they didnt tell me😤

Dowser · 25/05/2020 11:54

Stayed at Berwick two years running when we were dowsing lindisfarne.
I thought they had a lovely sea scape and nice prom walk
Can’t remember the beach.
There’s probably more open than you’d think

Willow2017 · 25/05/2020 11:55

Adventure
Yes i remember that thread and many more telling people who lived in rural areas where we can walk for miles in isolation that "People in cities cant do that so neither should you. You arent 'special' you know." If they used thier brains for dynamite it wouldnt even blow thier nose.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 25/05/2020 12:04

I think Drakeford has a socialist point scoring agenda at play without the resources to make it effective and our testing is nowhere near adequate
And I'm a labour voter Sad
We already have areas of horrifically high death rates due in no small part to deprivation and this is only going to make things worse
And the dementors are largely nationalists who are lapping this up as two fingers at Westminster

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 25/05/2020 12:05

Grin What a great expression

My anti-dementor friend just sent me a link to her local paper. A headline reads 'Thousands call 111 to report coronavirus symptoms.'

I thought, shit. Is that linked to VE Day given Weston Super Mare has also had an increase in cases? My heart properly sunk and I felt quite a lot of fear.

Nope. They're just reporting that lots of calls were made back in March and that they've significantly dropped off in May. The same area is reporting two suicides, though - it looks like two friends in their 30s and 40s decided to end their lives together.

The media are absolute fuckers.

CruCru · 25/05/2020 12:21

I think that what I miss is people being able to rely on their own good judgement. So many people who I thought were ordinary and sensible are doing really mad things because they’re convinced that they will all die if they don’t.

BogRollBOGOF · 25/05/2020 12:25

I remember the fields post too. She had DCs with SNs and it was her first walk of the day and the DC's second.

How many deaths have been attributed to touching a stile/ gate???

Less than the missing people/ suicides reported by the local constabulary I expect. Sad

DH has gone to meet his friend for a walk. It's good to not have him loafing around the house Grin

MinnieMountain · 25/05/2020 12:31

I'm back from my non-socially distanced meet up with friend and her DC. We even shared cake. It felt so normal.

RunningNinja79 · 25/05/2020 12:32

Hello all.

I've rejoined facebook. Its boring. Not a lot going on. No dementoring at the moment. Plenty of people out walking or running, but being a runner I have lots of running friends and also in lots of running groups so these are on my news feed.

Went to Asda this morning for the first time in weeks. It used to be our regular weekly shop, but since all this it has become a nightmare. Security on the door, which is fine, but he'd come out with a big long speech that apparently the goverment asked him to say (no other supermarkets ever had anything like this - only letting people in at the right time) with things like get enough for 10 days, follow the arrows, only one person at a time etc. It wasn't what he was saying but more the way it was said. Then the staff were all unfriendly etc and it just felt like I had walked in with a gun and was there to kill them all. So Morrisons started getting my custom for the weekly shop (5 people in the family and the shopping was a good £150 a week).

Anyway so today I decided I would give Asda another go. It wasn't a full weekly shop, but just getting a few things (which apparently included pillows and a plate set). It was better, but still going to stick with Morrisons for a while longer.

Taking DD2 out for a walk later. DD1 and DS are staying at home enjoying the break from her. I gave them the option and TBH I dont blame them. DH has to stay in as we are expecting a Hermes and an amazon delivery today.

TheGreatWave · 25/05/2020 12:33

Well I've done all-sorts. Dropped some school uniform round for a friend, her DD is in yr 6 so going back, but has grown and needs uniform for those few weeks and pointless buying new when the school next year is a different colour.

I then went to the shops with the 8 year old in tow, first time I have done so, she loved in, picked a couple of toys up from Poundland and some sweets. Done her good to get out the house.

user1471422568 · 25/05/2020 12:34

Hi can I join you wonderful people? I've lurking on mumsnet for years but this is the first time I feel like I need to post on a thread. I've read several threads and it has literally saved my sanity when the world around me seems to have gone insane

Also could someone tell me how to change my username?!

BogRollBOGOF · 25/05/2020 12:45

You can change your username in the Settings although the location of that might vary depending on your device. My andriod phone has a head/ shoulders.

It's good to see more people joining the vibe in here.

The balance of posts and polls seem to be shifting more positively again.

TheGreatWave · 25/05/2020 12:46

Hi user, snuggle in and get comfy. There should be a little picture of a person near the top of the page, click that, then settings and you can change your username in there.

RunningNinja79 · 25/05/2020 12:47

I think it seems to be shifting a bit. Another thread about a hospital closure with a lot of posters saying that lockdown does need to be eased now.

enjoyingSun · 25/05/2020 12:50

user1471422568 - click on the MY Mumsnet link at top right of page - (if on laptop not sure about mobile) - and the drop down menu has settings - when that page comes up put new username in and further down password.

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 25/05/2020 12:53

I’m looking forward to changing mine to walesissaneagain!

I agree with everyone on the welsh situation. It’s nothing to do with keeping us safe and everything to do with muscle flexing. If this is what independence looks like I’ll take my chances with Westminster.

justasking111 · 25/05/2020 12:59

Drakeford can do one now. Loads of rebels around here. DIL was desperate for diet coke, went to shop bought her a load. Called at house, she was trying to handle kids and cut the grass. So between us we cut the grass, moving the garden toys, paddling pool, by the time we finished lawn cut, toys moved, paddling pool cleaned out and refilled. Told her to relax this afternoon.

justasking111 · 25/05/2020 13:03

Oh and Drakeford team did no TV updates on Saturday, Sunday or Today, nowt till tomorrow for Wales, so he cannot be that worried can he?
