I think I finished the last thread by accident...

@123bananas FFS. I saw some right-wing journo tweeting about the spraying-with-disinfectant thing & assumed they'd basically made it up to further their particular all-unions-are-evilz agenda. Honestly jaw-on-floor that its true. The unions really aren't doing themselves any favours with this longterm

Hobnobswantshernameback · 12/05/2020 19:40

Ruck with a goady dementing delight last week had me sent to the naughty step
Have had to start a whole new account to be let back and have probs lost my 15 year old user name
Glad the anti dementors are still going strong

TeacupDrama · 12/05/2020 19:41

it is on BBC news that a Spanish woman aged 113 has recovered in a care home from Covid-19 after having it mildly, according to dementors this is impossible on at least 3 accounts

  1. no-one over 80 survives
  2. no one in a care home survives
  3. no-one has it mildly
justasking111 · 12/05/2020 19:42

Yes!! bring in bowing and curtsying if that is your thing. Some of the hands I have had to shake over the years, disgusting.

Tappering · 12/05/2020 19:46

I'd go for Dishy Sunak personally Grin

I'm really disappointed by how some people are talking about children.
Suggestions to disinfect them - seriously? I find it interesting that some teaching staff - who would normally be the first to talk about safeguarding and welfare - don't seem to prioritise mental health and wellbeing now. I posted a Private Eye article on the last thread which pointed out that children are being asked to shut themselves away from society despite the fact that the virus, statistically, poses very little risk to them.

Mascotte · 12/05/2020 19:51

@GoldenOmber I feel so sad. Surely they could get back. My poor boy. I'm writing to my MSP about the complete abdication of responsibility for the welfare of children today.

That will mean my boy has seen no one other than me here and his dad at his for five months

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 12/05/2020 19:53

Now I'm not keen on children (I only joined MN for the Litter Tray!) but even I would draw the line at disinfecting them!

GoldenOmber · 12/05/2020 19:54

I think the panic over schools is partly because people have lost all perspective about 'safe' vs 'unsafe'. Leaving the house and being around other people is unsafe because the virus is there. Not 'has a slightly higher chance of being there' but definitely positively out there floating around in huge clouds waiting to get you. So teachers need ICU-level PPE because children will definitely have the virus, and sending teachers into schools is sending them to their deaths because schools will definitely have the virus.

And I am finding it tiring the number of people on those threads going "well would YOU go to work in those conditions and RISK YOUR LIFE???" I used to give personal care to MRSA patients ffs.

Shodan · 12/05/2020 19:56

Yes!! bring in bowing and curtsying if that is your thing

Actually, if we brought in curtsying, we could also bring back those massive crinolines.

These could ensure the required 2m social distance, AND we could all go to e.g Whitby for a nice day out because we could pee on the ground, undetected by virtue of our crinolines.

Bit tricky for running I guess- but that would please SOOOO many Dementors, because runners are, as we all know, the scummiest of scum with their breath and everything.

Shodan · 12/05/2020 19:58

Ooh and (I'm on a roll here) parasols.

Handy for poking people who try to get too close.

GroEggAndHam · 12/05/2020 20:00

Have you been reading the thread about runners too @Shodan ? I think they're up to suggesting joggers need to be 10 metres away from others... I was going to start Couch25k again but now don't want to for fear that I'll get screamed at.

Drivingdownthe101 · 12/05/2020 20:04

Yes GoldenOmber, I saw someone on another thread say that if the whole school doesn’t wear masks there’s a 100% chance everyone in a school will get it.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 12/05/2020 20:04

To be honest I feel a bit hopeless
I fear the dementors will screech the loudest meaning everything will take even longer to move on. Not because it needs to but because politicians will cave to all the noise
I feel utterly dejected for dd and what will happen to her mental health
And how ds will struggle for the longest time to get back on course

TinRoofRusty · 12/05/2020 20:05

The Dementors have spawned! There are also the Economic Dementors, C19 and recession will mean we are all going to DIE.

LilacTree1 · 12/05/2020 20:07

Hobnob yes, so do I.

And how estate agents are allowed back to work.

Drivingdownthe101 · 12/05/2020 20:07

I fear the dementors will screech the loudest meaning everything will take even longer to move on

I fear you’re right. The fact that it’s being reported that the British are being dragged out of lockdown against their will... that’s a massive misrepresentation of my views and those of my friends and family. But they're obviously shouting the loudest!

theThreeofWeevils · 12/05/2020 20:07

it is on BBC news that a Spanish woman aged 113 has recovered in a care home from Covid-19

She has also survived another global pandemic, two world wars and a civil war.

Time to break out the small tactical nuke, then...

OutwardBound2016 · 12/05/2020 20:11

I really don’t have any idea how this will all play out, I sway between people will get to the point that they say fuck it and just carry on and that the dementors will rule and not be satisfied until we are all homeless, gibberish wrecks.

Drivingdownthe101 · 12/05/2020 20:11

And no point writing to my MP, he’s a useless tosser.
Some children round the corner from us made a really long chalk ‘obstacle course’ on the pavement outside their house. It’s fab. My DC do it on our walks every day, and we haven’t yet encountered any other families there at the same time (quiet street in a quiet village). The local paper did an article about it as a ‘feel good’ story. A local councillor is quoted as saying in response ‘it’s not the right time. Children should be staying at home and apart. I haven’t left my house in 8 weeks. Children should be at home’. Worst thing is, she was my teacher at the local secondary school years ago. What fucking hope have we got?!

DominaShantotto · 12/05/2020 20:11

@Hobnobswantshernameback you and me both - I'm watching a SEVEN year old sink deeper and deeper into depression and sob her heart out because she just wants to see her friends and be a kid. I can't keep chivvying her along for months and months, and through the summer holidays without her having at least some break from the misery - it is destroying her.

If they even bloody THINK about spraying my kids with disinfectant to please some unionised child-hating arseholes then I'll be pressing assault charges.

Leighhalfpennysthigh · 12/05/2020 20:14

Plus he's really tidy

So,is mine. Whilst I've got low standards and three dogs (the hairiest one is apparently my fathers, but both seem to have acquired squatting rights!).

Hope you get to see your lovely man soon mascotte.

Just read through the furlough thread. By god they want everyone in poverty don't they. The simple: unemployment = no tax revenues seems to have passed a few of them by.....

LilacTree1 · 12/05/2020 20:15

Domina I hope it doesn’t come to that

But if they tried that, I would think a crowdfunder would be in order to stop it.

123bananas · 12/05/2020 20:16

We weren't even wearing any face masks on my ward around non symptomatic children until a good few weeks into the lockdown and they were only introduced because of the risks of adults passing it around to each other/children e.g. parents to parents/other children and staff and staff to parents/children. Staff are more likely to give it to other staff. I was more likely to give it to my family (including my elderly father who I am shopping for and has health conditions that put him at risk). I never once considered not going to work because I might be around children.

People are infectious for a few days before developing symptoms so taking a temperature doesn't really help the spread that much plus not every symptomatic person has a fever. The virus lives in the nasopharynx so if any person has it and breathes or coughs post-disinfection the disinfection was pointless.

Mascotte · 12/05/2020 20:17

@PinkSparklyPussyCat I thought i wasn't particularly a child person either. I got all my DCs by accident. But I'm fucking Mother Earth compared to these people!

All the school stuff is a bit Miss Trunchbull, isn't it?

"My idea of a perfect school would be a school with no children...."
