I think I finished the last thread by accident...

Yes @Leighhalfpennysthigh it's all the Smug Marrieds, to go all Bridget Jones, that are saying it's easy.
I'm just ignoring it and doing my thing, but imagine if you were just dating, or trying to date. It's seen as so trivial, but it's not.

Oh, and even in Scotland it seems the inhabitants of nearest biggish town are not looking overly concerned about The Virus

Totally agree @Leigh and @Mascotte - definitely those not as affected by the idea who are happy to say such things

Leighhalfpennysthigh · 12/05/2020 18:43

Im a smug going to be married but we live apart - far apart and like hell am I not going to hug snog him when I see him next week.

I'm thinking old Schofe is trying out OLD hence his comments about hugging people he's just met.....WinkShockGrin

The dementors really want that second peak don't they.

RunningNinja79 · 12/05/2020 18:47

@OutwardBound2016 Runners should now be AT LEAST 4m away from another human as everyone knows that runners breath differently

Out of curiosity where was that?

I was reading the education guidelines last night. DS (yr10) has an EHCP and we were originally given the option whether to keep sending him in or to keep him at home. We chose the home option as we didn't want to be judged (and we also decided it wasn't fair to send him in but not his 2 sisters). After reading the guidance last night I'm wondering if he will be going back ASAP. Hope so, he's struggling. If he was any other year we wouldn't have been as bothered.

DD2 (yr 3) is excited about the prospect of being able to go back in soonish. DD1 (yr 7) just can't wait to get rid of the other 2. Though she'd rather go to school, but is aware that she's not going anywhere until Sept at least.

On hugging. I dont do hugs anyway to strangers or people I know. That's one thing I like about lockdown, no-one is getting too close (not that I've seen anyone I know outside of my household)

justasking111 · 12/05/2020 18:52

Wales dementors will be going into a melt down. All over the place today that the golfing assn. have said no legal reason you cannot play golf. Golf courses to open from Monday.

Crossed wires on angling, yes but you have to walk there, says south wales, north wales police said yes you can go fishing then recanted and said no you cannot. Waiting for them to re recant and say yes you can once again.

I feel sorry for the police they really are not hearing the updates before the public. So when asked are in the dark. I bet there are some absolutely furious senior police officers.

justasking111 · 12/05/2020 18:54

Re: when you go back to school I think Scotland has it right opening the schools in August, plenty of time to prepare for a new system that way.

Mascotte · 12/05/2020 18:54

@Leighhalfpennysthigh quite right! I don't think anyone on this thread is smug! I gave a lovely man just don't live with him for responsible parent reasons. Plus he's really tidy.

I am pleased that handshaking (🤢) and hugs from strangers will niw be a thing of the past.

Running there is a thread about it...it’s a joy

RunningNinja79 · 12/05/2020 18:58

Thanks outward thought as much, just checking. Its one I will avoid.

iamapixie · 12/05/2020 18:58

Well fishing and golf are pretty deadly. All that very close contact is the problem presumably.
And as for runners, I have personally murdered thousands with my breathing and sweating and general murderousness. And worse than that, so has DD. She's murdering with the best of us.

Mascotte · 12/05/2020 19:00

I mean people who refer to "hubby"

Now the NEU are on about disinfecting the children fgs! Spray them with chemicals that are harmful for them, that will be the best thing for them, breathing that in will be just wonderful for their lungs.

DesmondTheMoonbear · 12/05/2020 19:06

WTF? They're children, not lice.

iamapixie · 12/05/2020 19:06

123bananas. That's actually brought a smile to my miserable face.
Will they be sprayed on entry like a cloud of locusts?!

Drivingdownthe101 · 12/05/2020 19:08

I’m genuinely starting to think many people who work in education see children as disgusting, filthy, vile creatures rather than, well, children.

iamapixie · 12/05/2020 19:13

I've got to stop reading other threads. The 'you obviously don't like your children' line is doing my head in, not to mention the dementored flitting between 'you're sending me to my death' and 'it's not about me - loads of children are really ill with Covid and they'll die'. It's so so irresponsible. I am doubting again whether some of these people are actually concerned teachers or whether some are just trolls.

123bananas · 12/05/2020 19:14

Like this I reckon all a bit Stargate

iamapixie · 12/05/2020 19:20

Drivingdoenthe101 Lol - I actually feel a bit that way myself (!) ; but at least I've managed to extrapolate from that that I should never never be a teacher. If some of the worst dementors aren't trolls and are genuinely teachers I do wonder if they need to consider a career change!

TeacupDrama · 12/05/2020 19:21

I'm beginning to lose respect for some teachers thinking they need PPE like they are in ICU covid wards, it's like they seriously hate children

SummerHouse · 12/05/2020 19:25

A sheep dip type set up would work best I think.

Drivingdownthe101 · 12/05/2020 19:27

Well exactly iamapixie... you’d hope that teachers actually liked kids! I would never have dreamt of being one because I’m not a big fan of them en masse!

GoldenOmber · 12/05/2020 19:35

Has Scotland officially said not til August?

No. But have also said unlikely to be as early as 1 June, and given schools break up late June anyway it doesn’t leave much room. I live in hope they’ll move the summer holidays forward and start back in July, but this is because I’m a teacher-murdering monster I’m sure.

Shodan · 12/05/2020 19:35

I am pleased that handshaking (🤢) and hugs from strangers will niw be a thing of the past.

I've never been a stranger-hugger (and am quite adept at avoiding them tbh), always preferred a hearty handshake but I'd be happy with bowing, like the Japanese do.

16 years of karate training would finally come in useful! Grin
