Yes my sibling is in central Scotland so not sure what he is on about really but just leaving it as people are a bit emotional atm. with the changes etc. I think NS might find they get fed up with not having as much freedom (Freedom!- reminds me of Braveheart!)

Biscuitbiscuits · 11/05/2020 19:03

Hi @PinkSparklyPussyCat, DangerCat says hi to Harry! 😉

thesuninsagittarius · 11/05/2020 19:07

Here is my patronus. I love tapirs and their woffly snoots. Their babies are like wee stripey marrows. I love your stoic capybara @BarkandCheese!
O god all these 'rules'! You can meet one person outside, but not inside.
You have to wear a mask but not everywhere and you don't have to wear one anywhere.
I'm going to get it wrong I know it. Flaming torches and pitchforks will hound me out of town.

@Biscuitbiscuits
If I stand 2m from you will you chuck me a mini twister?

RunningNinja79 · 11/05/2020 19:09

Just checking in while having the news updates on another tab. DH has put something else on. Not sure why I want to watch Boris, I'll only end up confused for a bit Grin

Any reports on FB of localish areas saying they're not open? I've seen one. Now I actually don't mind as I prefer to go places in quiet times and this weekend will be packed.

Biscuitbiscuits · 11/05/2020 19:10

@LivinLaVidaLoki

I personally thing they're essential at this stage.

You only get 8 to a box though so I'll probably eat them all by Wednesday

Biscuitbiscuits · 11/05/2020 19:11

(I licked it before I chucked it to you btw)

DominaShantotto · 11/05/2020 19:12

I read some of the modelling stuff out to DH earlier without telling him what it was about - to the comment about the lines of code being worked on for 13+ years the air turned blue with swear words describing his opinion of people who use code like that.

LilacTree1 · 11/05/2020 19:12

Does mini twister mean the ice cream?

I’m going to the supermarket later, I might get some of those.....

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 11/05/2020 19:12

OMG HERE YOU ARE!

I was totally panicking thinking I'd lost you all and I'd be left adrift in a sea of dementors.

Orangeblossom78 · 11/05/2020 19:13

Is anyone else thinking that as they have said people can meet outside those places will get busy? But I suppose it is just meant to be 2 people or something

heroku · 11/05/2020 19:13

@Mascotte - best practice is that you publish your code online (normally on a site called GitHub*) and then anyone can repurpose what you've made and they can also help you by finding issues and suggesting improvements. The whole site (GitHub) is designed to do exactly this. This only works if you actually publish your code and give sufficient instructions on how to read it.

There are loads of absolute nerds with time on their hands who will happily pore over thousands of lines of code to find ways to improve it. So the best way to find out if a model is any good is just to publish it and see what everyone makes of it. That's what they've finally done and the verdict is - it's turd.

Turd might be unfair. It sounds like it's probably good enough for an academic paper but not good enough to dictate massive decisions affecting millions of people's lives.

  • Yes the git in GitHub actually means git. As in "you lazy git". Apparently it was created by some American dude who heard the word used in England and liked it.
LilacTree1 · 11/05/2020 19:15

Alexis there, there.....

Orange yes, you can meet one person from outside your household.

I was thinking, conversing with someone 2m away is going to be pretty pointless anyway....

LivinLaVidaLoki · 11/05/2020 19:16

@Biscuitbiscuits
(I licked it before I chucked it to you btw)

MURDERER!!!!!

Ah, sod it, I'll take my chances I love a mini twister.

SummerHouse · 11/05/2020 19:16

Hello. Have we read "the document"? P30 says ambition is for all primary years to be back a month before summer "if feasible".

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 11/05/2020 19:16

@lilactree1

Thank God!

Biscuitbiscuits · 11/05/2020 19:18

@LivinLaVidaLoki

Can covid survive on ice? It's probably fine.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 11/05/2020 19:18

summerhouse
I'm saving it for a relaxing bedtime read....

DominaShantotto · 11/05/2020 19:19

cases in Scotland are largely in the heavily populated central belt

There's a cluster in a care home on Skye - which has finally shut my mother in law up complaining we never do anything or go anywhere with the kids for some strange reason.

@NothingIsWrong my mum is coming to get my kids and take them to her house later this week - I'm sinking rapidly in my mental health and poor poor DD2 is just in a terrible state (think Tigger having being surgically de-bounced... she's depressed and she's bloody 7) and since there is no support coming from anywhere else in the world - we're doing what the fuck we can to try to keep the damage to the kids minimal... I'm a long lost cause.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 11/05/2020 19:20

@biscuitbiscuits
I'll chance it.

DominaShantotto · 11/05/2020 19:21

And yes I've read the document - allow me to summarise

About 15 pages of "we shall fight them with the hand sanitiser... British resolve... strength of the British people... do I sound like Churchill yet Dominic?..."

Then "suck it up till the 4th July with your corona-mullet you paupers"

Vague bit about aiming for primary kids to get a month back at school before the teachers get yet another fucking holiday (disclaimer: ex teacher here - just utterly appalled at the way some on MN and the unions are going on - and shove that flowers up your arse MNteacherwhiners)

Then about 20 pages left intentionally blank.

TheGreatWave · 11/05/2020 19:21

Just checking in.

LilacTree1 · 11/05/2020 19:23

Domina sorry about Tigger.

The document says “sod the economy, sod your children’s education, hide from the virus, pretty please...oh wait, we'll fine you double now”.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 11/05/2020 19:28

Checking in,

iamapixie · 11/05/2020 19:31

@NothingIsWrong
Re Wales: 2nd-home-owners are being sent strong letters saying to stay away and that there is police enforcement etc. It's a bit 'yikes'. I do understand their point of view but it secretly makes me think terrible thoughts about how I'm actually a better and more Welsh person than they are and how dare they tell me not to come to the land of my fathers!
