I just pegged the socks out.
I don’t care!
Would you look at the state of it.

This is a prime example of broken Britain. I can only assume you don’t have support at home Op, is there nobody you can rely on to scream at you about your moral ineptitude?

JaneJeffer · 09/05/2020 12:06

Does nobody care about the ghostly dog??

TroysMammy · 09/05/2020 12:07

I've come over all faint and have had to lay down in a darkened room with a cold compress. That is just too much I'm sorry. 1/10 for (no) effort.

NatashaAlianovaRomanova · 09/05/2020 12:07

80s do you know my SIL? She will actually go out & fix my mums pegs when she visits it annoys her that much!

JoysOfString · 09/05/2020 12:07

I miss hanging out washing (since I moved from house with own garden) - I used to make sure each item had matching pegs, though they didn't all match.

Also I couldn't hang socks by the toe, I never hung anything upside down because I would feel bad for it.

maddiemookins16mum · 09/05/2020 12:07

FGS woman, this isn’t the time for these standards. Do you think our Grandparents generation lowered themselves to this during the war. You should be bloody ashamed.
I bet you’ll also leave them hanging overnight too.
Disgraceful.
Have some pride.

Tashtegotoo · 09/05/2020 12:10

I realised how boring my life in lockdoen had become when I went through the peg bag and only used the yellow pegs just for a bit of a challenge.

WrongKindOfFace · 09/05/2020 12:11

At least the pegs match, so you’re not totally disgraced.

I expect the residents association will be round shortly though.

DollyDaydream70 · 09/05/2020 12:11

I need to go and lie down in a darkened room.

MitziK · 09/05/2020 12:12

They look more like M&S Men's Socks than Boden (Obviously I cannot comment upon the Small Child Socks).

I would say Primark, but as anybody knows, they can't be because they've clearly been worn at least once and there are no spontaneous holes appearing in the toes.

DP benefits from my sock snobbery. Left to his own devices, he'd be cheerfully wearing faded, holey monstrosities; sadly, his non existent standards also extended towards his underwear. I bought some rather pricey ones for him at Christmas, socks and shorts. He now complains that he has forever more been spoiled because, after my spending spree, he simply can't bear to wear the ones he'd been hiding from me for fear I'd throw them away and he'd be left both sock and pant-less. I never told him how much I spend on my own socks

In any case, I'm appalled that they are on the line at all. That way lies the horror of finding an odd sock in the grass three days later covered in snail trails (rather like the socks under a teenage boy's bed).

AlCalavicci · 09/05/2020 12:12

Who on earth pegs by the toe?
That's 4 bits of sock squashed in the peg if you hang them by the other end there is only 2 bits of sock in the peg so they will dry quicker and you already have hold of them the right way up to pair them.

I have thought about this way to much

Megan2018 · 09/05/2020 12:13

Your pegs match, my only rule with laundry hanging is that pegs must match. Low standards here Grin

PerkingFaintly · 09/05/2020 12:13

I'm more concerned that you don't appear to have given them The Shake. They're all glued-together-looking.

Clevererthanyou · 09/05/2020 12:17

Oh, I didn’t read the thread properly so initially missed the beautiful picture of your garden Op

—you’re still a heathen—

TwistyHair · 09/05/2020 12:18

Pegging socks by the toe is the weirdest thing I’ve ever heard. And OP, why don’t you have one of those sock hangers?!

AppearingNormal · 09/05/2020 12:19

I think they look lovely and cheerful.

ellanwood · 09/05/2020 12:24

Random hussy.

Branster · 09/05/2020 12:24

Schoolboy error: How could you not pair them up, matching socks next to each other. Pah!

TheHighestSardine · 09/05/2020 12:25

You have a lovely selection of socks there, but you must hang them by the toe. It’s a well-known fact that spiders, bees and wasps will fly into them otherwise. It’s a basic health and safety precaution!

That's not all the spiders do... :D

Thuglife · 09/05/2020 12:25

Christ woman, you’ve not even given them a shake first, you’re going to have crunchy toes on thoseGrin.
I have serious garden envy though. I’m channeling a more deconstructed look in mine Grin

Rebelwithallthecause · 09/05/2020 12:25

I would be satisfied with that

DH would definitely not

recycledteenager24 · 09/05/2020 12:26

socks ? least of my worries, 4 pairs of my knickers have gone awol in the wash, nothing fancy mind, i've only got 3 pairs now skanky cow that i am Grin

crimsonlake · 09/05/2020 12:27

Heathen here also, where's the problem?

Aesopfable · 09/05/2020 12:28

I can’t get would up over socks; I am still deciding whether to LTB after my ‘d’h turned a loaf of bread on its side and sliced it from top to bottom (ie horizontal slices if you put the loaf the right way up). Why? Why? Why?

Thighmageddon · 09/05/2020 12:30

Thuglife but shaking is a separate, pre peg step in perfect washing management.

Shaking of washing should be done well before you go outside to peg. All washing should be sorted using the line management procedure, this is dependant on whether you use a straight of whirligig line.
