Jilly Coopr character Lockdown competition thread

The most successful thread I ever started was about wanting to be a Jilly Cooper character.

Since lockdown, this has started to feel more achievable. See my scores below:

• Cut my own fringe: 3 points (scissors hadn't just been used to cut bacon first, deduct one point)

• car is Absolutely Filthy: 3 points (not a golf, mini or Porsche so as no other cars exist in Jillyworld, deduct one point.)

• "old trousers and a shrunk t shirt made her bum and boobs look huge," yeah whole three points for this one

• anthropomorphising my pets like crazy. No he wasn't showing how much he loves you, he wanted his dinner! 3 points.

• Smell of wild garlic making me miss going out to restaurants : 3 points. (Not sure if that is wild garlic or something else actually, deduct one point.)

So that's 12/15 for me. How is everyone else doing?

Since the menopause I’ve cried at everything.

Just finished Rivals for the umpteenth time and sobbed (for the first time) at the two main bits at the end 😳

I've read them all a billion times, but they remain firm favourites!!!

IIRC, there was a message wondering what happened to Caitlin O'Hara in the Jillyverse. I, too, wondered the same thing, so gave her a passing mention in a piece of Tomb Raider fanfiction I wrote years ago (I know, I know, but was excellent preparation for writing actual books, which I do now!). Somehow, I imagined Lara Croft knowing Rupert through her father, so socially it seemed to work. If anyone's interested in the reference, I've screencapped it . I always wondered what happened to her, and, being a romantic, I hoped she ended up with Marble Arch!!

Currently reading 'Rivals' for the gazillionth time to break the monotony of lockdown, and hoping for Declan to come striding over the hills and quote Yeats in his husky, smoker's voice, which I would totally go to the stake for.

Just finished Jump!, gone through them all, including the ones I hadn’t read before (Pandora, Score! And Jump!). Feel a bit forlorn now. Actually shed a tear in Mount, forgot about the death. I liked RCB’s 60th birthday party when so many old favourites showed up.

A good escape, certainly filled my time when I couldn’t sleep!
