Lighthearted: What did you panic buy?

When everyone else was panic buying flour and toilet roll, I bought peanut butter. DD(8) is the world’s mist random eater, but will always eat a peanut butter sandwich. We have just come to the end of the 6 week supply I bought. We’ve eaten a lot of peanut butter sandwhiches recently!

My colleague who lives in a city centre flat bought a rowing machine. Says it’s the best money she’s ever spent.

I panic bought pop tarts. I always wanted to panic buy a vacuum but it seems a lot of other people had the same idea!

Rollercoasteride · 02/05/2020 21:35

Not me but...DH bought 2 packets of smash! Really?! They still remain in the cupboard ha

BikeRunSki · 02/05/2020 21:38

DH was meant to be getting a new laptop at work around the end of March. They have a lease arrangement and it was due for months. It was cancelled on the day it was due to be delivered, because the lease company couldn’t get any.

Craft sets from The Works for DC. Was there one of the last few days before all the shops shut. I am trying not to get any out from their hiding place until I am really really desperate (after today's disaster with a bath bomb making set that was an impulse buy from Amazon, I may never get them out)

moobar · 02/05/2020 21:38

This is ridiculous but books for Dd. Blush

So we discovered the works shop in a town about forty miles away. She has recently started loving books, both herself and at bedtime.

They had a crazy opening offer 20 for a tenner, so I got 60. Plus a few board books. Spent 35 total.

We have had a new one a day and are nearly at the end (been home 7 weeks).

BikeRunSki · 02/05/2020 21:39

@moobar, that’s lovejy

Pringles.
We don't actually usually eat Pringles often.
Just seemed like a good ideaConfused.
I'm also guilty of buying paracetamol. Bought one packet in every shop I went into for a few weeks. We have a lot. Sorry.

working5to9 · 02/05/2020 21:43

Footballs and shuttlecocks
Paint ... wish I'd bought more masking tape.
Various bits from Hobbycraft. Just about all used.
I can't find the new eyeshadow I bought which is annoying as mine has now definitely run out. The others I have are all a bit darker than I'd like and definitely look like too much effort on a work video call.

BronzeSilverGold13 · 02/05/2020 21:44

I work in a kitchen, every Friday we cook fish and serve it in parsley sauce... it's a struggle to get the quantities we usually need so when we went into lockdown and everyone was panic buying, my boss gave us all money and told us to buy as many as we could from where ever we could! We must have looked very odd... everyone else was buying milk, bread etc and were "panic"buying parsley sauce 😂

furrytoebean · 02/05/2020 21:44

Pom bears and Tabasco sauce.

I don't usually eat Pom bears but they struck me as the perfect emergency snack, not nice enough to eat them all in one go but still treaty enough if you have nothing else.

Pandapotato · 02/05/2020 21:46

As soon as I got a sniff that they might close the schools, I stocked up on craft stuff for ds. Nothing fancy, just paper, pens, paint etc. So glad I did!
If you looked in my pantry, You might think i panic purchased pain au chocolates, but nope, we just get through masses of them!
I wish I’d stocked up on compost so we could do more in the garden.

Junobug · 02/05/2020 21:49

I bought craft bits which have been a lifesaver. My DH bought tinned fruit salad and mixed beans. I have no idea what his logic was. We've just about got through the fruit but the kids are a bit sick of it.

Racheyg · 02/05/2020 21:51

Flushable toilet wipes- have never used them before. And we are still worried to flush them so put them in the bin.

Printer paper - work out well as dcs have so much school work to print

LemonScentedStickyBat · 02/05/2020 21:51

Coffee machine filters

Flummingbird · 02/05/2020 21:52

Magazines for DD. To be fair I got them cheap with the plastic tat missing off the front... and she does get them as her reward from filling her chart every couple of weeks!

blueskys72 · 02/05/2020 21:52

Soup! Really must take it to a food bank now Blush

justanotherneighinparadise · 02/05/2020 21:53

CoffeeMate 😬

bumblingbovine49 · 02/05/2020 21:55

Pulsometer

BikeRunSki · 02/05/2020 21:55

I didn’t even know CoffeeMate was still a thing!

We panic bought a puppy, when else will we be home for weeks on end to toilet train and settle a new addition?

BikeRunSki · 02/05/2020 21:57

Makes sense @longtimecomin

Tinned stuff. The majority of it is still sat in my cupboard untouched. Although I didn’t actually panic buy it all in one go. I started worrying as soon as the virus came to this country and I started buying a bit extra when I went shopping so I had a good few weeks of buying apocalypse supplies before everyone else started panicking.

I was wondering about all the stuff people panic bought today and wondering if they felt silly now for hoarding pasta, toilet roll and flour etc.

Aeris1 · 02/05/2020 21:58

Dolce gusto cappuccino pods, black currant fruit shoots and chicken twist dog treats

Oly4 · 02/05/2020 22:00

Tinned tomatoes, pasta and sweetcorn. To be fair, we will use it. Wish I’d panic bought coffee on offer.. I good offers on coffee for weeks!
