So many questions-like where’s the sex dungeon, why so many chairs in the bedroom?

To add to my earlier Megan Draper comment - I think the bones are great, it's a lovely, well looked after house, and with a bit of effort, you could do it up like one of these: donpedrobrooklyn.com/mid-century-modern-living-room/

I'd snap it up if I lived near by.

Bubbletrouble43 · 30/04/2020 19:47

It makes me nostalgic for my early childhood. I was born in 1974 and grew up in a smaller crapper version of this!

ILiveNearby · 30/04/2020 19:52

Ok so thanks to @Extracurricularfatigue I’m almost certain of the former occupants. I vaguely know the grandchildren and certainly have close connections to their friends.

The gentleman who owned it is deceased and was the gentleman who was protective over the car. Either that or his son...everyone looks ancient when you are little! But the son is the image of the man I remember.

There is no showbiz connection that I can identify. It’s obviously been a couple who lived there and the gentleman died there sadly. Makes me feel even sadder now. But hopefully they had a happy time there and some fabulous parties.

Sarcelle · 30/04/2020 19:59

Mystery solved. I would like to know why there were so many sofas though!!

ILiveNearby · 30/04/2020 20:08

Sarcelle I think it was probably age. If the lady is still alive she’d be over 100. People I know of a similar age need chairs or sofas every couple of paces. And perhaps there was extended family living there.

Extracurricularfatigue · 30/04/2020 20:16

I got my date wrong on that one, Ilive. She's 90 if still alive, so not quite that elderly.

ILiveNearby · 30/04/2020 20:18

@ Extracurricularfatigue I thought she looked good for her age Shock !

Kenworthington · 30/04/2020 20:20

It’s quite astonishing. I think it’s possible I could love it but on the other hand it’s also terrifying.

Ostanovka · 30/04/2020 20:22

Makes me feel sad seeing the armchair beside the aga.

Chickychickydodah · 30/04/2020 20:27

Omfg 🤣🤣🤣the bathroom tiles were my favourite 🤦‍♀️. This definately belong to a 70 s tv entertainer

doobiedop · 30/04/2020 20:31

It's big! but so many why's....

doobiedop · 30/04/2020 20:32

The ceilings seem so low

ShellieEllie · 30/04/2020 20:36

It's creepy!

darktriad · 30/04/2020 20:42

I agree, creepy, reminds me of The Shining

MagnoliaJustice · 30/04/2020 20:51

I really like it, it could be made into a fantastic seaside home with a bit of imagination (and a lot of money!). I'd definitely add a roof garden and a pool.

mumwon · 30/04/2020 21:16

actually I wondered if it was a brothel - all those mirrored cupboards & glass walls & extra chairs in the bedroom & what ever (disclaimer: I have no experience/knowledge of what brothels look like Grin)

NoLongerAnEasyTarget · 30/04/2020 21:18

The more I look the more I love it. Those bathroom tiles!!!
It just needs a little boy on a tricycle to complete the ambiance.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 30/04/2020 21:27

Sod the house, I’m now fascinated by ILiveNearby and her showbiz connections.
Also, some of you should be private eyes. Top sleuthing 🕵️‍♀️

😁

I work in the industry.

There’s much bigger local names. In all honesty, comedians, tv personalities and 80s popstars are ten a penny round here. But there are more bona fide currently successful people from here too. And not just performers, impressive behind the scenes people too.

Flythedragons · 30/04/2020 21:45

I think I might actually have nightmares after seeing this house!

getyoursocksoffhoney · 30/04/2020 21:56

Yeah David Moyes was even out delivering fruit and veg to the vulnerable a couple of weeks ago Grin

ILiveNearby · 30/04/2020 22:02

@getyoursocksoffhoney Was he delivering for Strongs? I know they were looking for volunteer drivers.

getyoursocksoffhoney · 30/04/2020 22:07

@ILiveNearby I'm not sure but I assumed it was Strongs too as I knew they were looking for a driver

BearFoxBear · 30/04/2020 22:15

DH sent me the link to this house earlier because he knew I'd love it Grin

I would mid century renovate it to its former glory!

MyShinyWhiteTeeth · 30/04/2020 23:08

I may have visited as a child with my parents in the late seventies. It was a couple that were friendly with my grandparents.

I recognise the stairs but I don't remember it looking as ugly from the outside. Are there many buildings that look similar in the area? I didn't go in many of the rooms and we mostly played outside. I can't say for definite that it is the same place.

I remember thinking it was a fun house with lots of interesting things to look at. The other people were very glamorous looking and their children were older and not happy to be given babysitting duties.
