Interesting @ILiveNearby

The house was last sold in 1998. Was that before/after the get away from my car incident? The garage is a recent addition, so too the tidying up of the front, it used to have weeds growing in it from an earlier photo. So you are probably right about the green car being under the blankets in the garage. Odd they didn't park it on the drive/big concrete bit rather than the street.

The business that still appears as being run from there is only open a few days a week, and their website leads you to a blind alley. It was/is an electronic and electrical repair shop. Could there have been a counter once? Some of the flooring and the glass partitions look a bit like a workshop. So it could have been an odd commercial set up once with accommodation out the back, but which has now changed to fully commercial.

Lots of family photos in the house but couldn't make out their faces distinctly - middle aged couple in in one of them, quite a glamorous blonde lady. I thought perhaps it could be Linda Nolan (she who is in the mood for dancing) because she lives just outside Blackpool (according to Google) but it isn't hers!

TwentyViginti · 30/04/2020 18:44

ILiveNearby wow! thank you! I do hope you can sleuth for us, this house is so intriguing. Work stations? Yes that seems possible.

Figgygal · 30/04/2020 18:45

Wow
I’ll see that again in my dreams tonight

I was already impressed and then the bathroom and then the pinnacle of weird that is the bed in the garage

It looks like it used to be a business premises somehow

ILiveNearby · 30/04/2020 18:52

I think my incident would have been around the same time!

It’s definitely not Linda Nolan’s home...I know her too.

It’s never visibly been anything other than a residential home to me. Nothing set up outside.

Would it be possible that the home could have been sold to another family member so the resident could live there? It seems odd the decor wouldn’t have changed...

Just spoken to my Dad as the family business is a leasehold in the same estate as this house - he pays £5 a year to the Estate for 600 years. I asked him how much it would be to buy the Freehold and he said “oooofff THOUSANDS”. Wondering if the £180,000 was part of buying the Freehold. Steep though.

Will keep doing my local research.

ILiveNearby · 30/04/2020 18:54

Also...I’m pretty sure growing up there were other cars in front of the house! Arghhhhhhh why didn’t I take more photos of other people’s houses?!

Extracurricularfatigue · 30/04/2020 18:56

I think we've worked out that the freehold changed hands in 1998 but the residents have been the leaseholders since 1960. I think I've worked out their names from what was posted on Twitter - ILiveNearby could they have had the initials KC and SC? If it's them, the man died in 2015. They have a son who also lives in Lytham who used to be a teacher.

ILiveNearby · 30/04/2020 18:58

Please could you PM me the names? I went to school in Lytham.

Incredible sleuthing skills!

JimmyTheWeed · 30/04/2020 18:59

Those carpets! And the bed next to the car in the garage!

ILiveNearby · 30/04/2020 19:00

I’ve WhatsApped my showbizzy friends, they are not familiar with this home.

One of them lives in a very similar one in Jubilee Lane though! Like a time machine.

TwentyViginti · 30/04/2020 19:00

So many questions this house poses! it's clear someone elderly loved sitting by the aga. Maybe family lived there too, but the owner refused to update the decor just for changes sake? It all looks in good condition.

Sarcelle · 30/04/2020 19:01

Along the road from them is another house that was on right move. Think it is 104 the same street. Keep trying to link to it but can't paste.

It does not give any clues to mystery house, but architecturally it is similar, without all the partitions. It has all that swiss chalet style wood panelling (but also has a swimming pool and not so dated). This has no bearing in anything other than it was probably built by the same developer. Red herring, as you were!

SpeedofaSloth · 30/04/2020 19:06

I think that house could be amazing, after a refurb, real mid century modern bones to it in places.

I8toys · 30/04/2020 19:08

When Louis Theroux does programmes on swingers - this is where I imagine they live. They are just missing the hot tub.

Sarcelle · 30/04/2020 19:12

It does remind of Jimmy Saville's gaff.

Sarcelle · 30/04/2020 19:17

I should qualify Jimmy Saville comment - Louis Theroux interviewed him at the flat that kind of reminded me of the uber 70s vibe of the Lytham house

Tombero · 30/04/2020 19:17

Just seen it has a video tour on Rightmove. This has been the gift that keeps on giving!

Redglitter · 30/04/2020 19:25

The leasehold might be because it was once a commercial concern? The front doors look like a social club or similar

No it's always been a house. That particular part of the street has a row of houses which are all individual & unique

There is an independent school in Lytham so it can’t all be a shit-hole

By no stretch of the imagination is St Anne's a shit-hole 🙄

DobbyTheHouseElk · 30/04/2020 19:26

I love the rose pattern carpets in the bedroom. They are immaculate. I fancy a carpet that pattern.

WoollyMollyMonkey · 30/04/2020 19:27

From the outside it looks like it was built as a carpet shop/showroom. If those in the pics were what was on sale it must have gone bust and so turned into a house.

babychange12 · 30/04/2020 19:29

Apparently it was bought in 1998 for £180k
So the decor is not from the 70s???

Karwomannghia · 30/04/2020 19:32

That’s a huge amount for 1998!

diavlo · 30/04/2020 19:33

Holy fuck that is awful, they must have been tripping when they decorated place!

lalafafa · 30/04/2020 19:38

Lytham is a lovely town, St Ann's a bit more downmarket. The beach, sand dunes and nature reserve are beautiful. I'd knock it down and rebuild.

Extracurricularfatigue · 30/04/2020 19:39

Nope, the freehold was sold in 1998. It's a leasehold property, so the occupants didn't change. See previous posts.

Bubbletrouble43 · 30/04/2020 19:43

I think I love it. Disclaimer : I had 4 hrs sleep last night and have had a glass of wine
