I didn't realise she was due already. Baby boy born this morning!

I hope he's not planning to take any paternity leave after his prior utterances on the subject.

mbosnz · 30/04/2020 19:08

I'm sorry, I'm very glad the little one has arrived safely, and that the mother is okay, but I just find it all a little bit. . . sordid.

There was a Guardian article today, asking the question that if the prime minister was a woman, who was having her ? child to her third partner, having barely schuffed off the previous before announcing the pregnancy with the latest, would anyone be hanging out the bunting. I think it's a fair question.

I don't know if the 5 years is for all cancers or just the one she has“

5 years here too, breast cancer.

TinRoofRusty · 30/04/2020 19:54

Or even on here, mbosnz, there would have been none of this fawning and celebrating and 'poor thing, a woman in love with her man having a first baby in a time of pandemic and he was ill (after repeatedly ignoring advice and poo-poo'ing it even and exposing himself over and over), so traumatic, this is all such a light among the gloom' had a person posted a similar set of circumstances anonymously on here. Dear god! The second it's known you are OW or OM you are (quite rightly, IMO), persona non grata.

Clavinova · 30/04/2020 20:53

after repeatedly ignoring advice and poo-poo'ing it even and exposing himself over and over

I don't think he did repeatedly ignore advice.

Did the Guardian mind that Jeremy Corbyn was 20 years older than his third wife?

Roussette · 30/04/2020 21:58

Bingo! I was waiting for Jeremy Corbyn to be mentioned, about time!

BoJo was an idiot shaking hands with victims of COVID like he did. Even I (without the knowledge of scientists and health professionals at my fingertips like him) was keeping my distance from people who didn't even have the virus.

TinRoofRusty · 30/04/2020 22:17

But, but, Corbyn, Rousette! Corbyn! Look, over there! Grin

Roussette · 30/04/2020 22:25

I know! Funny that, eh?!

1forsorrow · 30/04/2020 22:36

@Chillipeanuts thanks for confirming that, if it is 5 years till you are considered cured then his ex wife is still going through it.

I hope you are doing OK Chillipeanuts, we have BRCA1 gene in the family, I was worried enough waiting for the genetic tests so can't imagine what it is like dealing with the actual disease.

1forsorrow · 30/04/2020 22:38

Did the Guardian mind that Jeremy Corbyn was 20 years older than his third wife? They might be more concerned if he hadn't met his 10 year old child.

CendrillonSings · 30/04/2020 23:07

Did the Guardian mind that Jeremy Corbyn was 20 years older than his third wife?

Of course they bloody didn’t, useless hypocrites that they are! Grin

Alsohuman · 30/04/2020 23:21

Is there any thread that doesn’t hark back to the former leader of the Labour party? It might as well be “Yes, but Ramsay MacDonald ...” for all the relevance it has.

ducksback · 30/04/2020 23:28

That is very true tbf. The Labour Party is of no relevance any more and I have little hope of it being so in the next 10 years.

Alsohuman · 30/04/2020 23:30

That wasn’t what I said. The amount of word twisting on here is unbelievable.

TinRoofRusty · 30/04/2020 23:45

Personally I am waiting for old Boris stood against Keir Starmer at the despatch box. Keir is forensically detailed in his questioning and dealing with Boris's bluster and lack of facts will be a sight to behold.

Roussette · 01/05/2020 07:56

Talking of facts, or lack of, I would like Boris to repeat this one at the despatch box...he said this last night at the press briefing...

""We have succeeded in avoiding the tragedy we saw in other parts of the world."
Worst in Europe, 27,000 dead, and he says this...

As I said before, now is the time for Boris to prove himself. There's no one else out there to blame, nowhere to hide..

ducksback · 01/05/2020 09:10

I think that you may be disappointed here. Starmer's job is to clear the LP of Momentum and their ilk and to try to make it electable again. I do not think that he will perform especially well at the dispatch box but I also think that this is less important that taking on the hard left of the party which he MUST do. The next leader will need charisma - Starmer has none.

Janaih · 01/05/2020 09:15

@Roussette he is exactly what we need right now.

1forsorrow · 01/05/2020 09:16

The next leader will need charisma - Starmer has none. In your opinion.

Chillipeanuts · 01/05/2020 09:17

1forSorrow

Yes, very well, thank you: I shall be discharged in 18 months all being well (which I’m certain it will be)

1forsorrow · 01/05/2020 09:20

Chillipeanuts, that is great news. It is a long hard road but thanks for telling us something positive. We need good news and positive stuff now to keep us going. Best wishes.

Xenia · 01/05/2020 09:25

I support BJ. I am disappointed yet again Labour could not produce a female leader, but that's the Labour party for you and I hope we have 10 years of Tory rule with Labour losing the next election but let us see.

However this is a pandemic and all parties are rightly pulling together. it is not really a time for party politics.

This is a veyr high spending middle of the road Tory party (sadly for those of us who want a small state and lower taxes) which is why it was elected and it has proved true to form during the pandemic too so watch out for much higher taxes on everyone including nurses and teachers next year as there is no magic money tree.

Alsohuman · 01/05/2020 09:27

Fuck charisma. What we need is proper grownups and Starmer’s definitely one of those. He’s also a complete contrast to Johnson and will show up just how much he’s style over substance. The Labour leader needs gravitas, not charisma and Starmer’s got that in buckets.
