Prime Minister writing his resignation letter, but putting a late Summer date on it. His baby is due in June.....

What does Jeremy Corbyn have to do with anything?

How the fuck can anyone read that post and take it seriously?

Well a Gove leadership would result in some fairly big policy shifts. For example:

We'd move from the current 'contain' strategy on Covid 19 to one of sacrificing the blood of innocents to the Dark Lord in return for His protection.

Very funny 😂

Applejaxx · 22/04/2020 14:34

The ‘righties’ are obsessed with Jeremy Corbyn, I’m surprised they don’t go the whole hog and blame him for Covid-19 because everything else is his fault if you listen to them..

CendrillonSings · 22/04/2020 15:05

Perhaps because if we’d listened to the lefties a few months ago that crazed old Marxist would be Prime Minister right now! Not going to let you forget that, no matter how much you might wish to.

Given he is no longer the labour leader, what does he have to do with anything?

Uygop · 22/04/2020 15:17

The right-wingers are really finding it hard to cope now that Corbyn's gone, aren't they? They're not able to find any real arguments in favour of the shit shower currently in power in the UK, and just don't want to give up their easy option of simply Corbyn bashing.
Enjoying having the UK effectively ruled by Dominic Cummings then? Proud to have him in charge of our country?

Inkpaperstars · 22/04/2020 15:20

Jeremy Corbyn and more to the point his whole section of the Labour Party do have a lot to do with how we got here. Who knows what the country might look like if there had been a credible opposition. I think it is centrists and some left wing people most disturbed by that, not right wingers for whom voting Labour was never an option. Still it is fair enough to point out that some of the same people bemoaning the current govt are the ones who failed to demand any electable alternative. I know some people will say this is wrong and they have a point, but I did not vote at the last election because I couldn't bring myself to vote for any of them.

JudyCoolibar · 22/04/2020 15:21

Speaking as a lefty, I'm perfectly happy for you to waste your time for the next 10 years reminding me of that, if it makes you happy. You won't make me or any left-wing person feel in the least uncomfortable, so knock yourself out. It won't change the fact that it is utterly irrelevant to the mess the Conservatives are making of an extremely serious situation.

JustinMyJustin · 22/04/2020 15:22

@Uygop The continued Corbyn bashing is getting rather pathetic nowAngry

JustinMyJustin · 22/04/2020 15:25

@JudyCoolibar I’d be so much happier if the crazed old Marxist was in charge right now. How anyone can think Corbyn could have made a bigger mess of this is astonishing. I mean, what the fuck would he have had to do to make it worse?

Inkpaperstars · 22/04/2020 15:28

I think Boris will come back into action and try to portray himself as saving the day after mistakes made in his enforced absence, when really he set up a lot of these mistakes through his earlier mismanagement, and any improvements that happen on his return were probably going to happen anyway.

Also re new young wife, he has to complete divorce from previous wife first. So classy to be engaged before that.

AgeLikeWine · 22/04/2020 15:35

It’s difficult to believe that a man who has dedicated his entire life to becoming PM would voluntarily pack it in. Perhaps the only person in recent history who wanted the job so desperately or for so long was Gordon Brown.

Had he not contracted covid, I have no doubt that Johnson would have clung onto the job until he was forced out, but if the reports are true, and he really did come very close to dying, that may have changed him fundamentally, as it might anyone who had made work the whole purpose of their life. We just don’t know.

Peregrina · 22/04/2020 15:46

Corbyn would not have made crass statements about Operation Last Gasp. St Boris may be regretting that now, having had first had experience of gasping for breath.

CendrillonSings · 22/04/2020 15:48

I’ve heard that immature people get offended by silly jokes, yes.

Peregrina · 22/04/2020 16:00

Only immature people make the silly jokes in the first place.
No one talked about being offended - just stating the right winger's favourite bete noir wouldn't have been so stupid.

Inkpaperstars · 22/04/2020 17:01

The 'joke' was very inappropriate and it was stupid. I don't nlame anyoe for judging Boris for that. Not as offensive to me as Corbyn's terrorist apologism though.

IntermittentParps · 22/04/2020 17:04

I totally agree with IDefinitelyHaveFriends.
He wanted the glory of the job but he has always seemed to have an aversion to doing any actual work or taking any responsibility. And he has a gold-plated reason for resigning right now.

Pedallleur · 22/04/2020 17:54

He will surely want to see Brexit through. But given how much he coveted #10 it doesn't seem likely he will resign soon

FabbyChix · 22/04/2020 17:58

Loved Corbyn

Uygop · 22/04/2020 17:59

Do you really think he wants to "see Brexit through"? And what does that mean, exactly? The UK's going to be a nutcase country for years to come due to Brexit, and all the more so with the coronovirus situation. Boris Johnson is pretending to everyone that he's already sorted Brexit. What follows on from that is lots of people starting to understand that he's conned them. It won't be pretty. Already, half of those who voted for Brexit want to delay it, and the government are refusing. Wait until the shit really hits the fan.

lljkk · 22/04/2020 18:56

Just when I thought things couldn't get more interesting.

We need a sweepstakes on what the baby will be called. Winston is the obvious possibility. prize = Right to feel Smug.

Names of BJ's known living children
Theodore, Milo, Lara, Cassia.
&
Stephanie (don't think he had any votes on this one)

Peregrina · 22/04/2020 20:53

Do we know it will be a boy?

BeijingBikini · 22/04/2020 23:08

If it's a girl, Margaret?

lljkk · 22/04/2020 23:20

good call, B-Bikini.

Boris has spoken to my brother's best friend's wife's cousin who was at Uni or Eton or both I can't remember with him. Quite good mates. He seems to think that catching the virus was pretty scary for Boris.

No he is not quitting, on the contrary he wants to get back in the thick of it, but actually he is still quite ill but recovering, and is not going back yet, on doctors advice.
