Prime Minister writing his resignation letter, but putting a late Summer date on it. His baby is due in June.....

Where is he anyway? It seems to be taking a long time for his recovery, at least for him to go back to his ten min daily video from home

He nearly died ffs, I think he's entitled to a couple of weeks off Hmm

Leflic · 21/04/2020 23:00

I think he’s loving the job actually. Brexit and Coronavirus are the sort of huge dramatic moments in history Boris has been trained all his life for. He got Brexit through and despite all the hyperbole in the o media has done as good a job as any other country with Coronavirus.
It’s unfortunate he nearly died which perhaps has made him reassess his life choices. Perhaps he can’t be arsed with it.
When’s the next election? When does Keir get a go?

PigletJohn · 21/04/2020 23:01

When has Boris ever done his duty?

lyralalala · 21/04/2020 23:01

Even if that's his plan he wouldn't announce it, sparking a leadership contest, mid-pandemic.

Even he isn't that much of a twat. That would cause massive uncertainty and the value of the pound would drop.

KenDodd · 21/04/2020 23:01

IDefinitelyHaveFriends
I agree.

ChicCroissant · 21/04/2020 23:03

If only - Boris thinks he was born for the job of PM. He is not known for his work ethic, has been sacked from more than one job for lying and didn't do interviews during the election campaign. If none of that stopped him, he's not going to jump voluntarily. Agree with PP that he'll let his ministers face the press during the tough times and then appear at the end when the worst work is done. He doesn't like being the bearer of bad news.

JudyCoolibar · 21/04/2020 23:03

He spent so long planning and plotting to get where he is, on the face of it it seems pretty unlikely unless he has some long-term health problems as a result of C19.

whatdayisitandotherquestions · 21/04/2020 23:10

YABU OP, I hoped this thread with hope it was true!!

I really wouldn't be surprised if he buggers off before too long though, this isn't what he signed up for. He wanted glory, not coronavirus.

AmelieTaylor · 21/04/2020 23:10

All the people saying 'good'

Do you really think it would be helpful right now?

I mean, I'm no fan, but the uncertainly and hassle is the last thing we need in the middle of all of this.

As for Gove - God help us all if that wet weasel ended up as PM.

As for all of the 'trust me' posts - state credentials or give over FFS

Yours
Queen of Sheba

LilacTree1 · 21/04/2020 23:11

I’ve been expecting this for a few days. He doesn’t want to run a country in this much trouble, even though he created it.

AuldAlliance · 21/04/2020 23:12

has done as good a job as any other country with Coronavirus
That remains to be seen once/if full data becomes available, but at the moment is not an entirely accurate description of the situation.
cf Germany, NZ, S. Korea, Taiwan.

Didiusfalco · 21/04/2020 23:13

Nope. Brexit and Covid are going to ensure his place in the history books, and all the signs suggest he would want a legacy. He’s also got a very decisive conservative majority, a lot of which will be due to personal appeal to voters. I’m a labour voter but even so I don’t want him to bail anytime soon, some of the alternatives are depressing and the country needs stability at the moment.

alltripe · 21/04/2020 23:13

Just when you think you can’t roll your eyes any harder

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 21/04/2020 23:13

Not a chance. He’s waited his whole life to get here, he isn’t going to let a little thing like being shocking at the job and almost dying (and having his sixth or seventh ( .... or eighth?) kid) put him off.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 21/04/2020 23:14

As for Gove - God help us all if that wet weasel ended up as PM

That sweaty little creep gives weasels a bad name.

God alone knows where we'll end up if he manages to get hold of the helm.

Janus · 21/04/2020 23:14

He has waited his whole life for this but probably also knows he’s stuffed it up with the number of dead every day so may decide to duck out now (especially with his brush with death) and accept he didn’t get this right???

CendrillonSings · 21/04/2020 23:15

FFS - if you like spreading shit so much, just get stuck in to the manure heap in your garden... Hmm

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 21/04/2020 23:17

He is just won an election and not only won an election won many seats that have never been blue

He has lead us out of the EU and now we are going through a time that history will write about forever in detail

He isn’t going anywhere

Inkpaperstars · 21/04/2020 23:19

What is the source of this speculation OP?

NoMoreDickheads · 21/04/2020 23:20

I don't see any reason why he'd choose to resign at all. If hearing a rumour, it's best to look at the balance of probability. Yes they maybe haven't handled COVID the best, but it takes a lot for a politician to resign. As far as we know, he's recovering ok too.

TheWordWomanIsTaken · 21/04/2020 23:21

IDefinitelyHaveFriends has it on the money
Yes he wanted the top job just because he wanted it.
But he really wants the after dinner circuit and the shits and giggles.
Not the responsibility, scrutiny and accountability.

mrsBtheparker · 21/04/2020 23:22

Not the right wing shit rags, obvs

So clearly that makes it 110% true, who could ever disbelieve the left wing rags, those vessals of purity and veracity!

noblegiraffe · 21/04/2020 23:23

Why would he write a letter and date it for the summer? Things are moving pretty fast and it would be very out of date.
Dear Country,
As I was sat here listening to Baked Potato and watching Tiger King, I realised that it was time to resign.
Yours,
BoJo

SuitedandBooted · 21/04/2020 23:23

Is the schoolwork getting on top of you OP?

Boris has chased the job for years - he won't want to be remembered as the (other) tory who legged it when he had a crisis to deal with.

Slight understatement there......

MigginsMs · 21/04/2020 23:23

I wouldn’t be surprised to be honest, I can’t imagine dealing with all this shite is something he’d enjoying.

In a proper job he’d be resigning to avoid being sacked, given what a total and utter arse he has made of it.
