Prime Minister writing his resignation letter, but putting a late Summer date on it. His baby is due in June.....

Are the kite fliers out again tonight?

Russellbrandshair · 21/04/2020 22:42

You say it’s not from FB but you are refusing to post links, hmmmm sounds totally legit! 🤔

CloudPop · 21/04/2020 22:42

Oh come on - he's waited his whole life for this. He'll be "recovering" until all the tricky stuff is out of the way and then will leap back in to be everyone's favourite whacky toff/super leader/ new Winston Churchill with his adorable new baby

Shineonyou · 21/04/2020 22:43

I don't think he would whilst on sick leave. And mid pandemic. I think he's got more to him than that. I'm not a fan, but I just think he'd not do a Cameron

Are you kidding? How long did BJ last as foreign secretary?

It's clear he doesn't like hard work and he didn't sign up for 'leading' a country through a pandemic.

Didn't even bother to chair FIVE cobra meetings despite all the news coming from China, Italy etc. He chaired his first meeting on coronavirus only last month - crazy, isn't it?

Abreadsandwich · 21/04/2020 22:43

Where is he anyway? It seems to be taking a long time for his recovery, at least for him to go back to his ten min daily video from home

I believe hes recovering at Chequers. Not a fan but really being seriously ill in ICU isnt something you generally bounce back from in a week or so.
I know someone (fit, healthy, no health conditions, not overweight) in their 30s who was seriously ill with covid at the beginning of March and they are still feeling exhausted and not fully recovered.

TheWordWomanIsTaken · 21/04/2020 22:44

Oh I do hope so.

Stepping down to spend more time with family is one of the most laughable euphemisms of our times. Not even Boris is stupid enough to try that line.

Come on op - don't be coy. What's your source?

Viviennemary · 21/04/2020 22:47

It wouldn't surprise me. He would want to escape all blame for the handling of coronavirus. Like not bringing in lockdown soon enough.

Applejaxx · 21/04/2020 22:48

It wouldn't surprise me if this were true actually.

Balmytissues · 21/04/2020 22:48

I have it on good authority that resigning is the last thing that he will do. Counter that madam.

HannahStern · 21/04/2020 22:49

I have heard that rumour but I didn't give it any credence. I think it is unlikely.

user1471510720 Tue 21-Apr-20 22:44:47
I can say with absolute certainty he is not resigning. Clearly OP is a deluded nutter

You can say with absolute certainty? Really??

I wonder who is the deluded nutter.

IDefinitelyHaveFriends · 21/04/2020 22:49

It seems plausible to me. He wanted to become PM, but I’m far from sure he was interested in actually doing the job. The saying goes that all political careers end in failure. But if he steps down of his own accord, “devastated to have to leave the job of my dreams, but on the advice of my Doctor...for the good of the country I can’t do the job to the best of my ability in my current state of health..at least I can now be there for my darling fiancée and my adorable newborn baby..”
That way he wins. Nobody pushed him out (not visibly anyway, clearly several knives are present in the shadows). The cabinet agree to show a united front “Good old Boris, putting the good of the country’s above his personal ambition” in return for a stab at the top job themselves. He poses with a cute baby for five minutes and then hits the after dinner circuit with a 500% markup on his previous fees because he’s now a legit former world leader. Much as it sickens me, I think it’s a dream outcome for him.

deydododatdodontdeydo · 21/04/2020 22:49

And in other news, the Queen is dead (again), some bloke on twitter said so.

circusintown · 21/04/2020 22:49

"Oh well. Arise, PM Gove"

Oh god, I'm going to have nightmares. Thanks

Sarahandco · 21/04/2020 22:49

He might have changed his mind about Brexit.

donquixotedelamancha · 21/04/2020 22:50

Carrie, is that you?

I think OP's first name is more likely to be Michael.

Stepping down to spend more time with family is one of the most laughable euphemisms of our times.

I think the reason given will be that he wants to spend more time taking IT lessons.

Moondust001 · 21/04/2020 22:50

I don't believe it. But I can hope. Something good has to come out of the pandemic, and kindness doesn't seem to be the result.

TokyoSushi · 21/04/2020 22:50

I don't believe for a second that this is true.

I do however firmly believe that the job isn't anywhere near as fun as he thought it might be!

I also wouldn't be at all surprised if he's stringing out his convalescence for as long as possible and then they can trot out the line 'if only poor Boris hadn't been struck by the terrible COVID then all would have been fabulous' 🙄

Satansgourd · 21/04/2020 22:51

water why are all right wing newspapers shit rags? Are the left wing papers the only ones offering a fair and balanced view?

ICouldHaveBeenAContender · 21/04/2020 22:52

resigning is the last thing that he will do

Well, yes. Obviously it's the last thing he will do as PM.

Bouledeneige · 21/04/2020 22:53

He's at Chequers. Recovering. The virus is a bugger and you don't just get well the next day (See the Lungs thread on here). I very much doubt he'd resign. He's had a virus not a humility transplant. His whole life he has wanted this job - a job that he is uniquely poorly suited for. His ego would never let him skip off into the sunset with the latest wife and kid - he will think he can still be Churchill getting blighty through this spot of bother. With his unique charm. Home life has never meant as much to him as scoffing at the power trough with his poshy mates.

MrsSnitchnose · 21/04/2020 22:53

I'm smelling bullshit. I can find nothing on google

donquixotedelamancha · 21/04/2020 22:53

Are the left wing papers the only ones offering a fair and balanced view?

Of course. Are you suggesting the Guardian might contain bias?

Inkpaperstars · 21/04/2020 22:56

wtf would having another child make any difference to a man whose fathered half of London, he's not well known to support his wives/ partners/ mistresses/.
He may resign but it won't be due to taking his family responsibilities seriously.

This.
