Anyone else gone from slim to fat very quickly?

Since Christmas I've been letting go a bit but sorted it without weighing myself etc in Feb. Since then I've gone downhill again and just realised for the first time today - I am really overweight.

What prompted me to check this afternoon is my face. It didn't feel right, felt all funny at the chin. I can literally FEEL a double chin now when I look at my phone etc.

Took a selfie with DS just now and bang, double chin galore!

Anyone else gone from slim to fat suddenly? I'm usually a firm size 10 and 5'4 in height. I am now a 12 or smaller 14.

Rahhh! Need to get back on track Sad it's so depressing.

I recovered from at eating disorder in my early teens so have to be careful.

A size 12 is not 'very fat'!

Try being 17 stone due to illness and medication like I am.

Trapordo · 15/04/2020 14:32

Pic of my face! Never had a 'double chin' before now. It's overweight

How can you see a size 10 as slim and a 12 as very fat. It's literally one dress size increase Confused

GreyishDays · 15/04/2020 14:32

She didn’t say ‘very fat’.

HarriboEgg · 15/04/2020 14:32

You've got a double chin because your squashing your chin against your chest. Look up straight and take another Hmm

Trapordo · 15/04/2020 14:33

Because it was a standard 10. And I'm now a 'big' 12...a 12 is snug.

It is a significant difference when you're short

HarriboEgg · 15/04/2020 14:33

OK. So fat. 10 is slim. 12 is fat?

NekoShiro · 15/04/2020 14:34

Same, normally an 8 but more of a 10-12 rn 🙈 I've been giving myself every excuse to eat treats while in lock down but it's caught up with me fast, I get what you mean about stuff feeling wrong, my face feels puffy and my thighs are rubbing together now, onto a calorie controlled diet from now on so hopefully it won't be for too long :)

HoneysuckIejasmine · 15/04/2020 14:35

I do agree you're overreacting a bit OP, but if you're not happy then it's absolutely fine to want to lose weight. Most weight loss is down to what you eat, so look at that first before embarking on a fitness regime. (Fitness of course is important in its own right but diet is more important for weight loss)

Trapordo · 15/04/2020 14:35

Really didn't mean to cause so much offence! A 12 being snug on me is getting onto the fatter side. Obviously people's heights and builds will be relevant.

I do not look right carry extra weight

PotteringAlong · 15/04/2020 14:36

You’ve only got a double chin there because you’re looking up and pushing your chin down Hmm

Going from a 10 to a 12 in a dress size doesn’t make you fat.

Trapordo · 15/04/2020 14:36

Will weigh myself in a sec. Been putting it off but think it'll give me the kick up the arse that I need Grin

OP posts:
Trapordo · 15/04/2020 14:37

It isn't just when I look down

Everyone has a double chin at that angle...

Trapordo · 15/04/2020 14:38

Son really? Everyone has a double chin looking straight on?

If you've had an ED and need to be careful then taking pictures of yourself squashed into unnatural positions do you can see if you look 'fat' won't help. Posting them on the internet for others to comment on really won't help. Everyone who replies will bring their own weight issues with them and it'll get confusing.

Size 12 isn't fat. Going up one dress size in 4 months isn't shocking or anything. It's easily fixed, if you want to.

I don't want to give any food/diet advice to you but I can say that I don't think this is a healthy way to get back to the weight you feel comfortable at.

limebedding · 15/04/2020 14:40

Not sure why you're being jumped on here OP. I don't think you've said anything out of turn. It doesn't feel right for YOU, it feels 'fat' for YOUR normal. It's perfectly fine for you to say that, you're not calling anyone else out or saying that a particular size is categorically fat.

Be gentle with yourself. Body
Comfort is what's important, not measurements. Take care on your way to regaining comfort and do pop up on here for support (or whatever real life support works for you) if you feel any of those past issues rising up.

Trapordo · 15/04/2020 14:40

Enid pics don't bother me weight wise. Neither does my look. I had an eating disorder as a young teen for control reasons. Didn't think I looked bad

HarriboEgg · 15/04/2020 14:40

I think you need to go to see your GP. This obviously goes much deeper.

goldpendant · 15/04/2020 14:40

Me! I have felt knee fat for the first time in my life (always had great legs in comparison to the rest of slightly squishy arms and tum)!

But know my knees have actual fat sloshing around on the tops of them. I need to exercise....

puds11 · 15/04/2020 14:41

Going from a size 10 to a 12 put me medically speaking from ‘healthy’ to ‘overweight’. So it can make quite a difference.

ChocolateCakeMix · 15/04/2020 14:42

I've gone from a 10 to a 14 and am horrified....I also used to have an eating disorder so maybe that has something to do with it. Perhaps we both still have a skewed view OP? Either way, I am currently two days into the "fast 800" diet so hopefully that will sort me out

In my experience people who are larger than the person complaining about their weight tend to get offended, but hey ho, you're allowed to be unhappy with weight gain!

Trapordo · 15/04/2020 14:42

Harribo Christ, I wish I hadn't mentuoned it now. I don't need to see my GP. I'm not unwell. Emotionally or otherwise. I am just now overweight for my height and its crept up on me

OP posts:
limebedding · 15/04/2020 14:43

Harribo why has this rattled you so much? You're being confrontational and I can't gather what about the OPs posts are offensive?

firsttimemum30 · 15/04/2020 14:43

Me! I was a 8/10 before I got pregnant, 5 months postpartum and my bottom is a 12 and top is 12/14. I have a massive belly and fat arms but small bum and slim legs. Hate it. I'm also only 5"2.
