New leader. Good news, but wish Lisa Nandy could have been deputy.

I’m so glad Corbyn has finally gone. Music to my ears when I heard it.

Mummyoflittledragon · 04/04/2020 11:21

I saw. Brilliant news! Maybe these dick heads supposed to be running our country will sit up and listen!

JudyCoolibar · 04/04/2020 11:22

So glad they didn't pursue what would have been the sheer insanity of Rebcca Long-Bailey as leader.

BuffaloCauliflower · 04/04/2020 11:22

I voted for Corbyn for leader several years ago, and I’m glad Starmer won, I think he’s the right leader at this time.

I like Angela Rayner too, I think it’s important we have people who represent all aspects of society at the top, not just constant privileged white men

DippyAvocado · 04/04/2020 11:23

A resounding win so hopefully he will be able to quieten the Corbynites in the party. I wasn't sure who to vote for as deputy but went for Rosena Allin-Khan after reading up and hearing her on the radio a few times recently. I thought Angela Rayner would win though because she was the one most people are likely to have heard of.

BuffaloCauliflower · 04/04/2020 11:24
  • to add, I know Keir has a working class background, but he is also a white man
MarshaBradyo · 04/04/2020 11:25

There was a good moment on R4 where Momentum said we won’t be wreckers like the anti socialist were

Other Labour person- Corbyn was the wrecking ball

KaronAVyrus · 04/04/2020 11:26

He’s really got his work cut out and will need to rebuild the Labour Party. Corbyn left an absolute shit show.

ofwarren · 04/04/2020 11:27

This is good news
I like Kier Starmer
When will he choose his front bench do we know?

theirtheir · 04/04/2020 11:30

So relieved.

And, frankly, stuff the whole 'going forwards together' nonsense. I really hope the cranks, anti-semites, & those who saw the Labour Party as a vehicle to be taken over are swept out of the Party.

MarshaBradyo · 04/04/2020 11:31

He has a bit of time before the next election I reckon he can do it.

Applejaxx · 04/04/2020 11:31

Thank god for that! The country needs strong opposition, especially at this difficult time.

missclimpson · 04/04/2020 11:32

Sky said shadow cabinet announcements tomorrow.

FaFoutis · 04/04/2020 11:35

Good. I'm very pleased.

RU562341 · 04/04/2020 11:35

Good. I think he was the best of the three and would have chosen him if I'd had the choice.

beautifulteeth · 04/04/2020 11:48

Ahhhh the man of the people...

The knighted millionaire socialist arch remainer...

He'll do extraordinarily well with the working class ...

😂😂😂

Almahart · 04/04/2020 11:50

Thank God for that. I could cry with relief. Good riddance Corbyn you absolute disgrace.

bellinisurge · 04/04/2020 11:53

beautifulteeth , and that's why we have a Tory government. Thanks to that kind of attitude.

MarshaBradyo · 04/04/2020 11:53

‘He'll do extraordinarily well with the working class ...’

He’ll do better than Corbyn, not hard though, let’s face it the working class even voted Cons this time and Johnson is elite as it comes

JonesyCat40 · 04/04/2020 11:59

Thank God. It represents a move to the centre.
I doubt the working class want the nutjobs like Nandy and RLB in charge, wokesplaining to them how trans rights and identity politics are really the issues they need to worry about.

Noodlenosefraggle · 04/04/2020 12:00

And, frankly, stuff the whole 'going forwards together' nonsense. I really hope the cranks, anti-semites, & those who saw the Labour Party as a vehicle to be taken over are swept out of the Party
This. Glad Starmer won. I hope he was trying to appeal to all sides until he got elected and then puts them firmly back in the box where they belong. Rayner better than Richard Burgeon and glad he came a poor 3rd.

Neolara · 04/04/2020 12:02

Thank goodness.

Chrysanthemum5 · 04/04/2020 12:04

I will reserve judgement until he actually does something about the shit show labour have become. I see he's apologised for anti-semitism I am waiting to see what he does about the rampant misogyny in labour.

Egghead68 · 04/04/2020 12:04

Good. A safe pair of hands and very electable.

WeetabixBananaHipsterFFS · 04/04/2020 12:09

Nice leader, shame about the deputy.

I like Angela Rayner too, I think it’s important we have people who represent all aspects of society at the top, not just constant privileged white men

Not sure I’m too keen on representation of credulous ideologues at the top tbh.

And since it’s numerically difficult to ‘represent all aspects of society at the top’ I’m not convinced representation ought, in isolation, to be a measure of justice.
