What’s for dinner?

Looking forward to some interesting store cupboard creations!

Ours is nachos with pulled pork on top with Mexican spiced (probably completely inauthentic) rice. Pork and rice both from previous meals and out of the freezer, will add a tin of sweetcorn and maybe kidney beans depending on whether it looks enough (large family)

Crisps and dips bought this week as they were pretty much the only aisles that still contained food.

Carb heavy but I don’t care, I’ve had to cancel my wedding 😭

Leek and bacon pasta 🍝

mbosnz · 23/04/2020 17:41

Oh @mbosnz, I'm so sorry about your cat. So she's disappeared?

Yep. And she really is a special kind of stupid. Even her breeder commented on it. I wonder if she's figured out that she can go to the loo without her special kitty litter yet. . .

Anyways, sorry to derail the thread with that!

There's so many really imaginative and flavoursome sounding meals on this thread. . .

TwoZeroTwoZero · 23/04/2020 18:10

a BBQ with vegan sausages and steak, normal beef burgers and bacon. Served in a bun with salad, mayo and a range of sauces. We had onion rings and potato wedges on the side.

Baked potato and green salad with left over curry on top. Lush!

Spam88 · 24/04/2020 08:58

Freezer surprise tonight. There's definitely chilli, curry and bolognese in there but who knows which bag is which...

BiddyPop · 24/04/2020 09:31

The "tomato soup" for yesterday's lunch, that we then thought was some kind of curry (as it defrosted) so cooked rice to accompany it, turned out to be chorizo and peppers in a tomato sauce (so better for pasta) - but tasted nice enough on the rice.

drspouse · 24/04/2020 09:43

Fish fingers/in crumbs and wedges.

mbosnz · 24/04/2020 17:43

Home-made fish and chips.

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 24/04/2020 17:45

Tonight here we are having pork fillet in a cider & cream sauce, baby roasted potatoes, broccoli

Dessert white chocolate cheesecake

Mapril · 24/04/2020 17:46

Tonight is barbecue- sausages, burgers, Chinese ribs, Chinese drumsticks with a couple of salads.

Bloodybridget · 24/04/2020 17:54

Pizza tonight, the dough is rising right now - at least, I hope it is! There some leftover puttanesca sauce to go on it, plus chorizo and extra black olives.

BearSoFair · 24/04/2020 17:55

Chinese style pork, noodles and beanshoots for DH and DC.
Crackers and a banana for me as I'm having an awful IBS day Sad

happypotamus · 24/04/2020 18:20

Toad in the hole with peas and mash.
Not appropriate for the weather but DC insisted they really wanted it so I have ended up making it

SingingSands · 24/04/2020 18:37

Had one large chicken breast left so chopped it up into small pieces and pan fried it with some garlic and chopped mushrooms. Added a couple of large dollops of Creme fraiche to make a sauce and served with some rice and green beans. And a large glass of rosé!

Frownette · 24/04/2020 19:11

@mbosnz fingers crossed.

Fish with vegetables and parsley sauce

cheeseycracker · 24/04/2020 19:43

Starting with fruit then bruschetta, harissa lamb meatballs with pasta, big tomato mozzarella salad, garlic bread (because carbs are life) green salad Grin

We are fasting for Ramadan so I've been looking forward to this all day, literally! (Roll on 20:16)

ChesterBelloc · 24/04/2020 19:46

Home-made lamb curry with fresh coriander on top , with basmati rice with cloves & cardamom pods chucked in and raita (natural yoghurt with diced carrot/cucumber/tomato/red onion).
Also had some quick-pickled red and white cabbage on the side. All v nice, if I do say so myself. And even the kids all ate it!

H1978 · 24/04/2020 19:47

Fasting here too

Lamb biriyani, onion bhajis. ,chicken cheese balls and mango lassi
Plus chicken spaghetti for dd3 (9yrs) her favourite, for her first fast ❤️

mbosnz · 24/04/2020 20:29

Off the topic update - Cat has been found!

I tremendously admire those fasting for Ramadan, especially in such trying times.

As-salāmu ʿalaykum,

Frownette · 24/04/2020 20:57

Brilliant about cat :)

H1978 · 24/04/2020 21:20

@ mbosnz Thank you although I find this month strangely comforting and fasting teaches you patience and forbearance, much needed at this time ❤️

BiddyPop · 24/04/2020 22:31

Fatal flaw tonight - didn’t feed dd early and was late finishing work so late getting charcoal lit for BBQ. God teenagers are sarcastic!! But we did eventually have turkey and steak, corn and mushrooms ff the grill. Along with potato salad fron baby potatoes, mixed salad from the remains of the veg drawer, and some pasta salad from tins/store cupboard items made yesterday.

Tonight DH and I have opened a 2nd bottle of wine after banishing the teen and watching some comedy to stay sane!!

GreenTeaMug · 25/04/2020 01:55

Please may I see a picture of the cat? i have a weakness for Siamese and Burmese cats.

We had chicken fried rice.

MinnieMountain · 25/04/2020 07:48

We had smoked mackerel kedgeree. It was surprisingly good.

TerpsichoreanMuse · 25/04/2020 12:10

Tonight I'm doing this from my St John cookbook. Leftovers for DH as a pasta sauce in the week.
