What’s for dinner?

Looking forward to some interesting store cupboard creations!

Ours is nachos with pulled pork on top with Mexican spiced (probably completely inauthentic) rice. Pork and rice both from previous meals and out of the freezer, will add a tin of sweetcorn and maybe kidney beans depending on whether it looks enough (large family)

Crisps and dips bought this week as they were pretty much the only aisles that still contained food.

Carb heavy but I don’t care, I’ve had to cancel my wedding 😭

Chicken breasts stuffed with goats cheese, served over rice with green beans as a side.

drspouse · 20/04/2020 18:58

We had kedgeree, I found some kippers in the freezer.

PickAChew · 20/04/2020 19:02

Thai green curry, made with turkey mince and lots of veggies. Used a store bought paste because I couldn't get any lemongrass or shallots but I spiced it up with extra chilli, ginger, garlic and both ground coriander and a bunch of fresh coriander because it's a bit underwhelming, otherwise.

Veg curry from the freezer, with cheesy garlic bread.

GreenTeaMug · 20/04/2020 20:26

I made homemade chicken goujons but I forgot about the oil in the pan and went off and looked at facebook. So I re-branded it as charcoal chicken.

No-one seemed to mind.

Spam88 · 20/04/2020 20:43

Took advantage of the 25% off for nhs workers on just eat tonight and ordered a Chinese feast. Chicken in black bean sauce, satay chicken and salt and pepper chicken wings. Yummmm.

I'm making my Mum's 1970's vintage Chili-con-carne, which we'll have on rice, topped with peas and carrots.

If I unweld my arse from this sofa.

thequeenbeyondthewall · 21/04/2020 16:43

Kippers .. in kedgeree!! What is the world coming to??? If you do use them I hope they’re Craster kippers -

Mapril · 21/04/2020 16:48

Homemade Cornish pasties (yeah I'm in Yorkshire, sue me Cornwall!), with chips, baked beans and crusty bread.

Kippers .. in kedgeree!! What is the world coming to
The bottom of the freezer, that's what it's coming to!

Our organic veg box providers cancelled our order for this week because we didn't obey the totally invisible and unwritten rule about not changing an order between midday on Monday and delivery on Wednesday even if it isn't this week's order that's being changed.
So we have even less to choose from for this week's meals

TwoZeroTwoZero · 21/04/2020 17:47

A sausage butty with some fried onions served with some sweet potato chips.

eveoha · 21/04/2020 18:22

Oh I’m so sorry re food shortages - I’ve got 1 kipper in the freezer which I’m going to eat only when this virus crisis is over - I love kedgeree with undyed smoked haddock - but fish market in Warrington closed 😐 I hope you get supplies of veg in 👍🏿

ellanwood · 21/04/2020 19:12

Now I want kedgeree made with undyed oak smoked haddock. Not had that in years.

Bloodybridget · 21/04/2020 19:14

Liver and bacon casserole, boiled potatoes (small but definitely not new!), steamed leeks and cabbage.

EmmaStone · 21/04/2020 19:47

It was the last of our themed dinners tonight from places we should have been. We were supposed to be in the US, and so we've had a variety of breakfasts and dinners similar to what we'd eat when we go there. Tonight was popcorn shrimp (deep fried prawns in a Cajun seasoned breaded coating), served with curly fries and homemade coleslaw with cocktail sauce on the side (ketchup with Worcester sauce and lemon juice). Massive hit.

MinnieMountain · 21/04/2020 21:01

I've got to make my kedgeree this week with smoked mackerel because DH doesn't like the smell of poaching smoked haddock. DGM would be rolling in her grave if she hadn't been cremated.

daisyjgrey · 21/04/2020 21:02

This! It was delightful. Had some kale that needed using so bunged that in, and sriracha on top.
