What’s for dinner?

Looking forward to some interesting store cupboard creations!

Ours is nachos with pulled pork on top with Mexican spiced (probably completely inauthentic) rice. Pork and rice both from previous meals and out of the freezer, will add a tin of sweetcorn and maybe kidney beans depending on whether it looks enough (large family)

Crisps and dips bought this week as they were pretty much the only aisles that still contained food.

Carb heavy but I don’t care, I’ve had to cancel my wedding 😭

Afternoon tea. We're going to make it a weekly thing with only one cake.

Spam88 · 18/04/2020 18:56

We had chicken shawarma with Pitts breads and coleslaw.

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 18/04/2020 19:36

Ooh love the sound of a weekly afternoon tea!

Tonight we had venison sausages in a spicy tomato sauce, roast baby potatoes, broccoli. Dessert was raspberry cheesecake

Beef Rendang on rice tonight. Takes around five hours. No surprise that it would be DD the youngest's favourite, if there's a hard row, that's the one she wants to hoe!

And, of course. . . wine.

APurpleSquirrel · 19/04/2020 16:29

Chorizo & pancetta frittata & green veg including asparagus, broccoli & peas.

whodunit3 · 19/04/2020 16:36

Spatchcock chicken with wild garlic, pine nut and pancetta stuffing, English asparagus and courgette (all done on the BBQ) and crusty bread...

Can’t bloody wait!! 😍

happypotamus · 19/04/2020 16:40

Pasta with butternut squash and other veg. Someone gave me a massive butternut squash, I have drawn a face on it and DC have named it and now it is sadly time to eat it.

Devlesko · 19/04/2020 16:42

I'm sorry you have had to cancel your wedding, it's a big thing to you and your partner Thanks

We are having sunday roast, with lots of veggies, stuffing and gravy.
for afters we are having either rhubarb crumble or dd making banana bread.

Not yet though as too hot, so chicken just gone in.

PMSL - you going a bit stir there, happypotamus?!

(Although I once had a huge giant crayfish that lived in our vege bin prior to being much appreciated for Christmas lunch, that I affectionately called Lobby. . .)

Shepard’s pie with Yorkshire puddings (shop bought)

AtleastitsnotMonday · 19/04/2020 17:26

Roast chicken with stuffing made from quite a mish mash of herbs (smells fab though), chipolatas ( needing using up) roast potato and parsnips, carrots, cauli, broccoli, leeks and peas. With gravy and breadsauce. Very much looking forward to it!

Justtrying · 19/04/2020 17:35

Roast chicken, pigs in blankets, Paxo spruced up with thyme, parsley and lemon zest. Roast potatoes and parsnips, carrots, cauliflower and spring greens. Followed by marmalade and left over hot cross bun bread and butter pudding.

Mapril · 19/04/2020 17:50

Roast pork, cabbage leeks and sprouts, roast potatoes, carrots and parsnips. And Yorkshire puddings.

Pear and ginger cake with custard for afters.

I know that’s a shit ton of veg but it was all bendy and needed using.

MogeatDog · 19/04/2020 18:09

Roast lamb with rosemary, cauliflower roasted in a spicy tomato sauce and a tahini yoghurt dressing with roast potatoes

mbosnz · 19/04/2020 18:09

You can never have too much vege.

My daughters were extremely annoyed to find out that meat and six vege is not the norm. I really shouldn't have let them go to tea at their mates' places!

GreenTeaMug · 19/04/2020 19:05

baked beans and potato waffles

SallyWD · 19/04/2020 19:07

I've just got the Green Roasting Tin cookbook which I LOVE. Today we had one of the recipes - leeks and puy lentils with crene fraische (?) and feta cheese. It was delicious.

Spam88 · 19/04/2020 19:25

@sallywd I bought that a few weeks back but haven't tried any of the recipes yet. The leek and mushroom tart is on the meal plan this week though!

HelenaJustina · 19/04/2020 20:45

@SallyWD we have had that book for a while now and absolutely love it. Not yet made a duff recipe from it. That leek and lentil one is one of our faves.

We had spaghetti bolognese for lunch with salad and garlic bread. It was a veggie one with quorn mince and everybody ate it!

mbosnz · 20/04/2020 16:22

Spaghetti and meatballs with pasta sauce. Nice and simple!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 20/04/2020 16:24

Cottage pie tonight. Easy Monday comfort food.

turtle24 · 20/04/2020 16:25

Hi, I’m new 👋

IHaveBrilloHair · 20/04/2020 16:56

Lentil and veg soup tonight, I used a pack I got from Asda which has the chopped veg and then a wee bag of lentils in with it.

H1978 · 20/04/2020 16:57

Not feeling great today so an easy chicken and veg soup in the slow cooker

Nymerialuna · 20/04/2020 17:08

Tonight we are having baked sweet potato with chicken and bacon mixed with mayo and salad.
