Comforting TV shows

These are uncertain times. We are all likely to be at home a lot more than usual. So I'm after comforting TV shows to watch.

So far we've watched things like The Good Place, The Crown, The Split (not comforting as such but so well written). And now rewatching Death In Paradise (which is very not cool but also very comforting!). But I'd be very grateful for your top tips too.

No horror. Limited violence. And probably not hospital dramas at this point in time please!
TIA

Mapp and Lucia - if that’s available anywhere. The recent remake, but also the original with Prunella Scales and Nigel Hawthorne.

The Windsor’s. So funny
Sewing Bee is rumoured to be returning in the next few weeks if you like crafty things.

Many thanks for those recommending Detectorists, have watched the first series -fantastic!
I would say dinnerladies, early doors and getting on, brilliant bbc programmes too

Classic eastenders is on the drama channel every weekday. It's currently 1993...it's wonderfully nostalgic.

I hate soaps but my friend who is an avid fan has heard that
due to CV they are going to stop filming them, presumably temporarily.

Really looking forward to the Sewing Bee.

Hi all, just bumping this thread as I feel we need it more than ever!

I'm craving Jane Austen adaptations and other period dramas. Going to try the Crown and Outlander. But if all else fails, beloved Austen won't let me down!

I watched the trailer for the Detectorists and it just didn't appeal.

ChrisAndJonty · 28/03/2020 05:28

Probably not classed as "comfort TV" but Hill Street Blues on the Channel 4 iPlayer has kept me occupied and entertained. I'm just about to start watching series 4. It's a real blast from the past.

Also Seinfeld on same.

Oh and Torchwood on BBC iPlayer if you want to go in the opposite direction of comfort.

LittleAtlas · 29/03/2020 12:32

Sure some of these will have been said but

Gilmore girls
Modern family
Masterchef
Location location
Some like it hot
