I'm in Liverpool.

I have lived all over and you can only get Sui Mais here (that I have for nd anyway.)No one else outside of Liverpool seems to have heard of them.

They are pork and prawn dumplings but bigger and better and not won tons.

Recently went to Cardiff and I had a corned beef and mash thing from the chippy that was a welsh thing. It definitely began with R but it was regional to that area I think. It was fabulous.

What do you have that you don't see anywhere else?

SpeedofaSloth · 28/02/2020 20:28

thequeenbeyondthewall · 28/02/2020 20:29

Patties

SpeedofaSloth · 28/02/2020 20:33

Like a pancake but made with oats, and waaaaaaaaay better. Best eaten rolled up with sausages and cheese.

bobstersmum · 28/02/2020 20:34

Blackburn Lancashire, A John Bull is tasty mince or meat between two big slices of potato, sandwiched together and fried in batter, amazing!

SpeedofaSloth · 28/02/2020 20:34

Rissoles are fab, too. I have only ever eaten them in Tenby!

thequeenbeyondthewall · 28/02/2020 20:39

Both of them things sound really stodgy and like proper comfort food!

Are patties square sausages?

Chicken parmo! Breaded flattened chicken breast, bechamel sauce and melted cheese served with lashings of garlic sauce 😍😍

Connie222 · 28/02/2020 20:42

Orange (battered) chips.

KittenVsBox · 28/02/2020 20:42

Shu Mai is not a Liverpool special. They are found on pretty much all Dim Sum menus - in the UK, Hong Kong, and I'm sure elsewhere round the world.

Think LemonTops are local. We try to claim a parmo, but pretty sure they are not completely local.

ParkheadParadise · 28/02/2020 20:43

Square Sausage

Dreamersandwishers · 28/02/2020 20:43

Butteries ( or Rowies to the townsers) . Heavy, salty, flaking croissant like thing from Aberdeen. Fabulous warmed up and slapped with even more butter , and cheese. Or golden syrup . Or jam if you really must. They used to deliver them like milk...
Good times.

PawPatrolMakesMeDrink · 28/02/2020 20:43

Patties from Hull.
Manna from heaven. It’s mashed potato with sage and onion in it, shaped into a disc/burger shape and then battered and fried.
Best served hot in a buttered white breadcake.

CoolcoolcoolcoolcoolNoDoubt · 28/02/2020 20:44

@KittenVsBox I LOVEEEEE Lemon Tops 😍

CoolcoolcoolcoolcoolNoDoubt · 28/02/2020 20:44

Henderson’s Relish for me 🌟 stick your Worcestershire Sauce where the sun don’t shine!

OneMoreLight · 28/02/2020 20:45

Parmos @wineislifex gave the description already.

SueEllenMishke · 28/02/2020 20:46

Bits on your chips (Yorkshire)
I miss them 😭

Figgygal · 28/02/2020 20:47

In Aberdeen you can get butteries/rowies which are basically salt, flour and fat and are amazing

Oh and macaroni pies just can’t get either down south

MustBeThin · 28/02/2020 20:47

Henderson's Relish
Parkin
A yorkshire fishcake

JulesJules · 28/02/2020 20:47

Stottie (Newcastle) - my favourite would be with cheese savoury. Mmmmm.

Flidina · 28/02/2020 20:47
