I'm in Liverpool.

I have lived all over and you can only get Sui Mais here (that I have for nd anyway.)No one else outside of Liverpool seems to have heard of them.

They are pork and prawn dumplings but bigger and better and not won tons.

Recently went to Cardiff and I had a corned beef and mash thing from the chippy that was a welsh thing. It definitely began with R but it was regional to that area I think. It was fabulous.

What do you have that you don't see anywhere else?

Yeah - Sui mai are on all the Chinese takeaway menus here in north Derbyshire/Cheshire. Love a Staffordshire oatcake. Homemade ones are out of this world. I like them with cheese and lots of black pepper.

AngelNix · 28/02/2020 21:19

What are macaroni pies?

Our local chip van does chips with scraps!

Fivefootoffun · 28/02/2020 21:20

Chicken Chasni - found in Indian restaurants only in the west of Scotland (I think?). Like the Indian take on sweet and sour meets tikka masala - creamy, tangy, so delicious.

Northernmum100 · 28/02/2020 21:20

Oooh, butter pies. Local to me too but never tried one because I think I would love them .. Pretty much any bakers shop in Lancashire I've been in will have them

nsav · 28/02/2020 21:24

@AngelNix do you know what a scotch pie or a curry pie is? It’s just like that but full of macaroni cheese instead... sooooo good

ExpletiveDelighted · 28/02/2020 21:25

Lardy cakes (Hampshire but South coast generally I think).

We get Staffordshire oatcakes in Sainsburys quite often, love them.

caoraich · 28/02/2020 21:25

Dreamersandwishers you got there first.

Once, while working in deepest Lanarkshire, someone sidled up to me with one. He had heard my accent. His mum used to post them to him! Amazing.

Katjolo · 28/02/2020 21:26

Patties (filled with beef, lamb, veg or salt fish). Yum! Roti 😀

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 28/02/2020 21:28

The Scouse with beetroot thing is interesting because I had a boyfriend whose family served roast beef with slices of beetroot. Always thought this was a very odd pairing but clearly beef and beetroot is a thing. This was in Essex and I’ve never known any other family do it. Parents were both from the east end like mine and it’s not an east end thing.

nsav · 28/02/2020 21:29

OMG how can I forget tattie scones!! And square sausage, and haggis neeps and tatties with a whisky sauce from the pub Robert Burns himself sat in :)

Dreamersandwishers · 28/02/2020 21:31

@nsav Stovies...mmmm

Dreamersandwishers · 28/02/2020 21:31

Tattoo scones... oh god I am hungry...

Dreamersandwishers · 28/02/2020 21:32

Tattie, not tattoo

pepinanalilyplant · 28/02/2020 21:33

Cullen skink. The most delicious soup ever.

nsav · 28/02/2020 21:33

No one has mentioned bean chutney. In fact, it's becoming increasingly hard to find anywhere

OneMoreLight · 28/02/2020 21:42

Definitely want a lemon top now. As a teen one of my friend's worked in an ice cream parlour, it became a staple of the weekend going to see her at work where she would provide us with a free lemon top!

ImTakingTheEssence · 28/02/2020 21:45

Pease pudding and stotties yes!

SheepSocks · 28/02/2020 21:45

Troach Drops - Birmingham

CatFaceCats · 28/02/2020 21:48

Butteries/rowies/rolls for me! Aikens being the purveyors of the most amazing, saltiest, soft but crispy Butteries.

Oh and macaroni pies. Like a cheap pie with macaroni in it :)

Hotshot parmo, with extra pepperoni and jalapenos. Bad And Wrong.

happycamper11 · 28/02/2020 21:52

How far afield does Selkirk bannock spread? And do you get spicy haggis in chip shops outside of Scotland?
