Been geeking this morning on the number of flights having to go around

Noticed several Gatwick and Luton flights diverting to Stanstead

Check out DI7018 JFK- Gatwick

Two attempts at Gatwick, seemed to be heading for Stanstead, but now the Norwegian airlines crew seem to be taking everyone home with them!

Ahh makes sense.

TabbyStar · 15/02/2020 22:49

Leeds flight missed it again.

Ohdeariedear · 15/02/2020 22:50

Alicante to Leeds has failed to land again. I would hate to be on a diverted flight this late at night in the horrible weather.

GiraffesAreTheBest · 15/02/2020 22:51

Just heard the Leeds flight go over and heard the engines kick in again as it went back up. Hopefully they can land safely this time round

notimagain · 15/02/2020 22:54

Did FR9078 make a failed attempt to land at Leeds?

Yes, and they have just gone around again.. ATM at LBA they are reporting winds of 24 knots Gusting 35 knots, across the runway (one of the few SE/NW aligned runways in the UK), plus light rain so I'm not surprised they are having problems.

ToPlanZ · 15/02/2020 22:55

Giraffesarethebest you must be close! I've just seen it go out over the Chevin towards ilkley direction. Fingers crossed they get down safely this time.

TabbyStar · 15/02/2020 22:57

Think it might be off to Manchester.

notimagain · 15/02/2020 22:58

I had that impression for a moment but looks like they are going downwind again for another go..........

TabbyStar · 15/02/2020 22:59

Yeah, does look like it now.

notimagain · 15/02/2020 23:00

..or maybe not....

TabbyStar · 15/02/2020 23:01

Or not Grin

NoGravyForYou · 15/02/2020 23:01

It's changed it's mind 🤣

Ohdeariedear · 15/02/2020 23:02

BY7675 Gran Canaria to Birmingham is over Doncaster, having swerved Birmingham completely, not gone anywhere near it - wonder where they are off to?

MamehaSan · 15/02/2020 23:02

To the posters asking how to find out where diverted flights are going: I noticed earlier that on some fights, the aeroplane icon between the origin and destination airports changes - to a sort of "shuffle" icon like you get on a music player app. It doesn't always do it, but when it does, if you click on it it takes the map to the new airport (this is on the android app). I've attached a pic showing the arrow where to look.

What are we/you betting Tabby?...Straight in to Manchester from where they are now????

NoGravyForYou · 15/02/2020 23:05

That flight has not even gone near bhx, very strange.

FatimaLovesBread · 15/02/2020 23:05

The diverted Alicante to Leeds flight has just gone over my house on it's way to Manc I assume

notimagain · 15/02/2020 23:06

Looking at the speed now I reckon you were right it's Manchester, straight in...

MrsFezziwig · 15/02/2020 23:07

ohdearierdear I just opened the app as heard a low flying plane overhead (Yorkshire) and yes it’s BY7675 Gran Canaria to Birmingham (but obviously nowhere near Birmingham at the moment!).

TabbyStar · 15/02/2020 23:08

notimagain looks like it, I might cheer if it lands!

FrangipaniBlue · 15/02/2020 23:10

Me too I'm rooting for them!! Grin

NumberMonkey · 15/02/2020 23:12

Just checked in - slightly jealous of those of you under flight paths. I’m in Cornwall and the skies are clear but I have been doing a spot of ship spotting on Marine Traffic Grin

MamehaSan · 15/02/2020 23:12

The East Anglia air ambulance has taken off from Cambridge (HMD88)

MrsFezziwig · 15/02/2020 23:15

Looks like BY7675 Gran Canaria to Birmingham has landed at Doncaster.
