Been geeking this morning on the number of flights having to go around

Noticed several Gatwick and Luton flights diverting to Stanstead

Check out DI7018 JFK- Gatwick

Two attempts at Gatwick, seemed to be heading for Stanstead, but now the Norwegian airlines crew seem to be taking everyone home with them!

Sorry my misunderstanding. I got confused with everything up north!

Athens flight absolutely normal. It was holding on the Biggin stack. Heathrow has 4 stacks.

billsmothers · 10/02/2020 21:38

I get confused with FR all the time Smash Grin

ToPlanZ · 10/02/2020 21:59

Has a Luton bound easyjet flight from CDG just had to land at Manchester? I can't find it on the arrivals board? Maybe my tired eyes are deceiving me.

EZY49XP - it’s just over the channel

chomalungma · 10/02/2020 22:25

That's quite relaxing watching the stack over Biggin.

You can see them coming in, going around and then forming the line for LHR.

Fascinating

happycamper11 · 10/02/2020 22:51

I'm impressed with the orderly LHR queue - very British 😆

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 11/02/2020 00:00

Does anybody else when tracking their planes google places they're flying over?
Eg right now I'm following one to South Africa from London, and when it flies over places I've never heard of, I google it.
Currently reading about an amazing sounding national park at the mo!
Plus I'm epic at game show geography questions as a result as well lol

dustibooks · 12/02/2020 14:10

@WotchaTalkinBoutWillis Yes, I do - I've learned the names of some random airports in Lithuania and wherever this week Grin

SquishyFishy · 15/02/2020 11:16

So do we think today will bring a repeat of last weeks shenanigans?

Freeshavocado · 15/02/2020 11:58

I know a lot of flights over the next couple of days have already been cancelled

BabbleBee · 15/02/2020 11:59

I’m on the South coast and it’s not too bad here at the moment. LGW looks fairly normal on FR at the moment.

NoGravyForYou · 15/02/2020 12:29

Couple of flights appear to be circling Dublin, though it's the west coast of Ireland expected to get the worst today.

BabbleBee · 15/02/2020 12:38

Ooh I’ve found a RAF flight! My first one!

Pretty damn windy here now (North Lincolnshire)

NoGravyForYou · 15/02/2020 12:45

Looks like a plane from Geneva tried to make a landing and had to abort and circle around again at Dublin and has lead to a bit of a queue. There's about 5 planes circling in two separate areas waiting to land. It is very windy in Ireland today.

chillichutneysarnie · 15/02/2020 13:59

Are Lingus from Cork to Bristol appears to have had problems and is diverting, poss to Liverpool

NoGravyForYou · 15/02/2020 14:04

And it's one of the little prop planes. Had an awful flight in one of them in similar conditions before.

NoGravyForYou · 15/02/2020 14:14

I don't think it's going to Liverpool

belgianpringles · 15/02/2020 14:14

We went to the Isles of Scilly on one of those, coming back there was really thick fog which descended after we'd taken off - the pilot had to go down to 500 feet. Let me tell you, the sea looks very, very close at 500 feet. They cancelled all flights for the rest of the day after that.

belgianpringles · 15/02/2020 14:17

I think the Cork-Bristol flight is going into Manchester.

NoGravyForYou · 15/02/2020 14:19

Looks that way @belgianpringles, that's going to a long journey back to where they need to be for the passengers 🙈

belgianpringles · 15/02/2020 14:22

Yes, and not a nice drive either judging by OYBBK and Gloria's threads.

rainbowcase · 15/02/2020 14:23

They might not go by road though. Often it can just be a refuel and return. However the weather is so bad it really isn't worth trying again.

belgianpringles · 15/02/2020 14:27

I'm watching a little flight over Greenland at the moment, a local one by the looks of things. The weather is variable there - one place is 23deg. and another is -9.

NoGravyForYou · 15/02/2020 14:37

Still a lot of circling going around Dublin Right now!
