Been geeking this morning on the number of flights having to go around

Noticed several Gatwick and Luton flights diverting to Stanstead

Check out DI7018 JFK- Gatwick

Two attempts at Gatwick, seemed to be heading for Stanstead, but now the Norwegian airlines crew seem to be taking everyone home with them!

Where's the Kyiv flight headed??

ElloBrian · 09/02/2020 15:10

Kiev flight now heading away from Gatwick, to the north east of London. Where’s it going?! Stansted maybe?

Loladisco · 09/02/2020 15:11

Actually no looks like a divert, possibly to Stansted

Kyiv given up, looks like Rome EasyJet giving it a go now

PollyMorph · 09/02/2020 15:13

It appears as though Sau Paolo to Heathrow might be descending to land in Barcelona!

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 09/02/2020 15:14

The sao paulo one to London that seemed to give up trying to land and flew out to France instead seems to be coming down now, losing height so must be about to land somewhere Southern France?!
FML, bet they're fed up lol

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 09/02/2020 15:16

Nope, they're still coming down but they're flying over Spain now

ElloBrian · 09/02/2020 15:17

Rome flight into Gatwick has gone around too. Can’t see any other immanent flights inbound to Gatwick.

wineoclockthanks · 09/02/2020 15:18

Rome one not landed either and doesn't look like anything else trying Gatwick atm

PollyMorph · 09/02/2020 15:18

After three failed landings and a hell of a journey I bet they will be glad to land safely anywhere

wineoclockthanks · 09/02/2020 15:19

Grin @ElloBrian

CallmeAngelina · 09/02/2020 15:19

Skies look quite empty over at Stansted. Am therefore wondering if they're still diverting there.

chomalungma · 09/02/2020 15:19

Going to Heathrow and ending up in Barcelona is one hell of a divert.

ElloBrian · 09/02/2020 15:19

@wineoclockthanks snap !!!

EllieBellend · 09/02/2020 15:19

Is Luton closed? Can't see any planes near it.

dustibooks · 09/02/2020 15:20

I live fairly near Luton Airport - the skies have been eerily empty for some hours now. The runway is on the flat top of a hill so I'm guessing the wind is pretty stiff and gusty around there.

friskybivalves · 09/02/2020 15:22

Waiting to see if Rome rejoins track into LGW for another go. Looks as if it is.

EllieBellend · 09/02/2020 15:22

I'm on the M25 closeish to Luton (not driving!) but it's so cloudy can't see any planes.

wineoclockthanks · 09/02/2020 15:23

Looks like Kyiv trying Stanstead

Gonegrey31 · 09/02/2020 15:23

My dd’s flight from Luton due to leave about 18.00 hrs has been delayed 3 hrs, now cancelled completely.

friskybivalves · 09/02/2020 15:23

Where is it off to now!

dustibooks · 09/02/2020 15:23

Just seen one attempt to land at Luton and abort.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 09/02/2020 15:25

Where the frick is the Sao Paoulo one going, it's down to about 10,000 ft from 30000 and I can't even see any airports nearby Confused

ElloBrian · 09/02/2020 15:29

What happens to the passengers when they’re diverted to an entirely different country?! Do they just get to hang out there for a day or two and then the airline flies them back to the original destination? Or what?

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 09/02/2020 15:29

Ah, Barcelona by the looks of it now
