Been geeking this morning on the number of flights having to go around

Noticed several Gatwick and Luton flights diverting to Stanstead

Check out DI7018 JFK- Gatwick

Two attempts at Gatwick, seemed to be heading for Stanstead, but now the Norwegian airlines crew seem to be taking everyone home with them!

I know there will be lots of data and and processes underpinning the decision making but (as an indecisive person) I can't imagine making the call as the pilot on whether to land/abort/divert!

Dammit! Wish I'd never seen this thread. I've got an hour until DS will wake up from his nap and guess what I'll now be doing!

We're under the Heathrow flightpath for planes which take off to the west and then run to head to the Middle East, Far East etc. It's been very quiet today.
