Been geeking this morning on the number of flights having to go around

Noticed several Gatwick and Luton flights diverting to Stanstead

Check out DI7018 JFK- Gatwick

Two attempts at Gatwick, seemed to be heading for Stanstead, but now the Norwegian airlines crew seem to be taking everyone home with them!

U28465 /EZY58PF tried to land at gatwick and now looks on divert.
QR327 /QTR5AM was due to land after the above but looks to be going back for a second go.

I've just discovered a new sport!! Yes the Doha plane has tried twice now. I live under a flight path so hope they make it in!! Saw the Bournemouth plane fly off and there is a standard one circling near Gatwick!!

It is quite good seeing them land on FR then switching to the bog jet tv live stream and seeing them land.

The QR327 /QTR5AM DOHA flight is coming in now.

At what altitude do they make the decision to abor tthe landing?

They can "abort" even after they have touched down (though there are caveats).

BTW in case it hasn't been mentioned..the Air Traffic Controllers will be working like one armed wallpaper hangers today, dealing with the go-arounds, diversions, etc...they are worth every penny...

THanks fo rthe answers to my questions everyone. It is strangely hypnotic watching them all line up the approach. Kudos to the pilots - there are some shaky landings! and to the air traffic controllers too! Stressful day!
