Weird things our bodies do

ffswhatnext · 06/02/2020 11:58

I have a number of health issues to begin with and over the past couple of months I have proper hunger pains just before sneezing. (Will chat to gp at next review)

So what weird stuff does your body do?

And just to prove it I sneezed 5 times a couple of minutes after posting Grin

namechangenumber2 · 07/02/2020 08:48

I used to be able to do the wobbly eyeball thing too, but just discovered I can't do it anymore?! Confused

3rdchristmaslucky · 07/02/2020 08:58

The ear roaring thing is definitely jaw muscles for me, not eye.

My shoulders crunch when I move them, it doesn't cause me any pain but it's loud enough for other people to hear (and be made to feel sick by).

I shudder daily, moreso when I'm stressed, but it's that noticeable big shudder usually with a flailing limb. Very annoying, not epileptic (although it does run in my family) and nothing to show for it on MRI. Just a quirk.

I get a physical ache down the side of my body that was expecting to turn a corner, when made to go straight on. Say I'm about to turn right but then someone suggests going straight forward, my right side tenses up and aches. It's really fookin annoying.

If I haven't eaten in a longer-than-normal time, air in my stomach area makes a loud sound like a bullfrog.
If I bend over, part of my insides below my ribcage 'flips' out, and I have to stuff it back in, it's not pleasant Shock

seekingwaxwings · 07/02/2020 09:49

@QueSera

That's a slipping rib, like I posted about upthread Wink

QueSera · 07/02/2020 11:13

@seekingwaxwings
That's a slipping rib, like I posted about upthread

Ah thanks - can anything be done about it???
Mine feels more like an internal organ flipping out, but it could be the bottom rib - I try to avoid it happening, but next time it happens I'll try to determine if it's the rib or organ lol

In bare feet if I stand on something small like a pebble it also causes pain in another part of my body like my shoulder.

ffswhatnext · 07/02/2020 21:46

@milleniumhandandprawn
I also get that sometimes after I poo.

@pinklillie
No I haven’t. See them next week. Hopefully it’s something ‘normal’ and it doesn’t involve more tests.
I’m so happy I’m not the only one.

Wow. Some of these are amazing.
Gutted I haven’t got Voluntary Nystagmus (weird eye thing for those who haven’t read the whole thread)

My body had just reminded me of another one. Sometimes when I open my jaw it makes a loud clicking noise. If I’m doing something that has my mouth more open, like brushing my teeth, my jaw temporarily locks.
It’s not that controlled click you can do when you open your mouth at an angle and it clicks. It never locks when I do that.

The abdomen/Sholder pain. Wind can also cause it. I’ve had it a few times after surgery, cannot remember the exact reasons, but made sense in that Ga and morphine high.

I had terrible shoulder/clavicle pain after GA!

Ohffs66 · 07/02/2020 22:21

I have a weird thing where if someone gets hurt on tv in certain circumstances (mainly skin scraping on concrete or tarmac) I actually feel a weird sensation on my skin like it's happening to me, it totally goes through me and I physically shudder. I don't get it with anything else and I'm not especially squeamish so I have no idea where it comes from.

HorseFlyOfExtraordinaryLength · 07/02/2020 22:27

I can open my Eustachian tubes I think, without swallowing or anything. To equalise pressure in my ears, you know like when you're taking off in an aeroplane.

theluckiest · 07/02/2020 22:29

I photic sneeze too.

My fanny is scared of heights. My vagina clenches when I'm somewhere high. It's a rather unpleasant and I call it my 'nervous fanny.'

My weirdest, and I'd be delighted if anyone else has this, is every month I get a discharge from my navel. It's slightly yellow and it bloody stinks. It's not an infection as it literally happens every month for a couple of days and then disappears. Weird.

DwangelaForever · 07/02/2020 22:32

My face sweats when I eat too much cheese or pickled onions/pickled onion flavoured things

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 07/02/2020 22:36

I get eczema in my elbows ONLY when pregnant.

sunshine makes me sneeze....and ds2 also. Any sudden change in light levels will set us off....dh thought we were crazy crossing the street one day and we both had to stop in the middle and have a multiple sneezing fit.....ds2 usually stops at two or three, but I am usually three to five :o

Ear thing....yup!

Also have a weird long hair on shoulder/neck I must see if it is back
And I have a hairy toe...just the one, big toe right foot.

and yes to the rib thing.....I often wake up and feel like I am folding up badly, plus in bed dh will put his arm round me just where it feels the wobbly bit is, am always telling him to move his arm up or down

worst time with the ribs was when pg with ds1....somehow it felt like he was stretching out inside of me and wedging himself and I simply could not bend, or sit or get comfy at all. This went on for about three days and suddenly cleared and I felt like I could actually breath without having to remember.

Istillgetjealous · 07/02/2020 22:37

This thread has given me a few laughs so thanks everyone GrinGrin
This also has helped with my hypochondria

DwangelaForever · 07/02/2020 22:41

@orchirdflower1 I get that too!!

Killerqueen2244 · 07/02/2020 22:43

@ShirleyPhallus fellow weirdo here!!!

FREEM · 07/02/2020 22:48

my left ear rumbles if people , always men, have a certain level of time of speech .
it's so annoying

potbellend · 07/02/2020 22:54

True true shock or fear.

Brother ran over / nearly had a car crash / terrible news over phone once / a long hard court case verdict. I lost all feelings in legs and fell to the ground. Literally weak at the knees. 42 now and happened around 5 times in my life. I can't do anything about it

EmptyFieldOfFucks · 07/02/2020 22:55

@Frazzlerock my eight year old does that with her eyes too, it's unnerving but cool.

With me, well, where to start.

I can swallow air. If I swallow enough air, I'll start to fart. Yes, there's a name for it and yes I shouldn't do it but it is pretty funny. In the right company.

EmptyFieldOfFucks · 07/02/2020 22:55

I wish I'd namechanged for that. I like this username.

NellyTimes · 07/02/2020 22:56

Frazzlerock I can also make my eyes shudder and so can my 11 year old daughter. I've never met anyone else who can though

showmethegin · 07/02/2020 22:58

I was born with my finger up my nose and if it's cold I still get a little red bump at the entrance to my nose, exactly where I had my finger lodged!
