Weird things our bodies do

ffswhatnext · 06/02/2020 11:58

I have a number of health issues to begin with and over the past couple of months I have proper hunger pains just before sneezing. (Will chat to gp at next review)

So what weird stuff does your body do?

When I am tired, my appendix scar itches (it's almost four years old and I had an open removal, not keyhole, so it's a big scar).

Singing makes my eyes water until they have adjusted. I hate it because it looks like I’m getting emotional over my own singing!

PoopaPoopa · 06/02/2020 17:27

@thesparklypussycat I read recently (here onmnet) that being itchy under the chin can be the sign of an allergy so I wonder if you’re coughing because you’ve had an allergy to something.

I experience the same. I get an uneasy, lonely ‘I want my mum‘ feeling. I once read it was oxytocin release, which would make sense as I used to get it when breastfeeding

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 06/02/2020 17:56

@vixb1 I get that occasionally, a really big yawn results in ringing and temporary deafness!

I also sneeze uncontrollably if I press my nose in a certain place. Obviously try to avoid that.

Cheeryandmerry · 06/02/2020 17:57

One of my births was a c-section and I had terrible terrible shoulder pain afterwards ......very common apparently and is referred pain due to trapped wind!

InAPrettyCabinet · 06/02/2020 17:58

When I've been bursting on a pee and had to hold on for a bit, when do eventually go it makes my back teeth feel itchy.

Iliketeaagain · 06/02/2020 18:02

Scratching my chin makes me hiccup - it's seriously irritating if I have an itchy chin or a spot I want to pop

When I get heartburn I get a sharp pain right in the top of my head Confused

HerRoyalFattyness · 06/02/2020 19:23

I can twist my hand 360°
And my knees and elbows bend (slightly) the wrong way.
I have EDS so extremely flexible thanks to fucked up joints.

milleniumhandandprawn · 06/02/2020 19:25

A few here - I've got a bump on my collar bone that releases clear liquid if I scratch it. It takes a few months to refill.

Also the horrible nipple feeling and multiple sneezes. DS is a multiple sneezer - but not DD!

I also get the most amazing sensation of peace after doing a massive poo. It can last a couple of hours 😂

wannabebetter · 06/02/2020 19:29

I get pain in my shoulder if I eat too fast and have to manipulate it for a while until it somehow makes me burp & pain goes away.... clearly trapped wind but how the fuck does it get to my shoulder??Hmm

Interesting about the nipple tweaking. I find it really soothing (not in a sexual way) but if I'm in pain or feeling sick/worried/scared then nipple tweaking helps. Obvs I only do this alone/in bed no in job interviews or anything. If anyone else was to do it, it would be a sexual feeling. It's only soothing when it's me 🙈😁

ProfessorHasturLaVista · 06/02/2020 19:39

I can make the rushing, fluttering sound in my ears. I can block out disturbing noises with it. I have no idea which muscles I’m tensing to do it.
