After the old school reading thread, who else loved point horror!?

OP posts:
Missushb · 26/01/2020 00:06

Me! Loved them. Still make me feel nostalgic of simpler times back when I was a teen. Smile

GonnaBeMaayy · 26/01/2020 00:07

Point horror was definitely my thing. Loved it

EatAFajita · 26/01/2020 00:11

Loved them. Although some were too scary for my bedtime reading.

kaldefotter · 26/01/2020 00:12

Totally loved them. Wish I still had them.

PenguinsOnParade · 26/01/2020 00:13

I did and all of mine are still in a bookcase at my parents' house. I've tried to get DDs to read them but they aren't interested. I really should ask for them all and read them again to see if they're as scary as I remember.

EmpressJewel · 26/01/2020 00:16

My favourite was called The Accident. I think it was about the ghost of a girl who asked to 'borrow' the body of a living girl and refused to give it back. I read it one day as I couldn't put it down.

Macca84 · 26/01/2020 00:17

Loved them! Though I would have to hide them out of sight before it got dark, obviously Grin

GorgeousLadyofWrestling · 26/01/2020 07:59

Absolutely loved them - I just inhaled them when I got a new one, and would re-read all of them over and over.

I went to Florida when I was thirteen and found loads in a bookshop that hadn’t come out over here yet. It was probably the most amazing moment of my life 😂🤓

A bit later on, I got into Christopher Pike - Monster, Forever Friends, Scavenger Hunt etc. They were bloody brilliant.

What’s the old school reading thread?

babychampam · 26/01/2020 10:16

Yes I loved these. The babysitter and I think funfair or fairground were my favourite.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 26/01/2020 10:18

I read quite a few of these.
My favourite was The Perfume. Actually quite a creepy story.

Tinypaws2 · 26/01/2020 10:23

Me I loved these and the point romance ones.

BellatrixLestat · 26/01/2020 10:24

Loved them.

Pretty sure it was the start of my horror obsession!

SpinjitzuMaster · 26/01/2020 10:29

The one that sticks in my mind for odd reasons involved a diabetic and his evil girlfriend injecting air bubbles into his blood stream. Maybe that's why i get freaked out by needles! Hmm

Kaykay066 · 26/01/2020 10:31

I loved the accident too,
They were creepy at the time but I’d forgotten all about them till now

StormBaby · 26/01/2020 10:32

The Perfume was my fav too

Queenoftheashes · 26/01/2020 10:33

Also loved them! Think the invitation was the first one i read. The dead girlfriend... Twins was so creepy!

MeanwhileAtNumber98 · 26/01/2020 10:34

I loved the Point Horror books. I think there was one called The Babysitter? I remember The Accident too.

SilentSarey · 26/01/2020 10:36

Why have I never heard of this??

Oopsinamechangedagain2020 · 26/01/2020 10:38

They were so good. The Forbidden Game trilogy by LJ Smith was brilliant!

SapphosRock · 26/01/2020 10:40

Loved them and was terrified by them in equal measure. I remember someone getting beheaded in one and being traumatised for weeks.

LemonRedwood · 26/01/2020 10:42

I loved point horror! Was a huge fan of scaring myself. Funnily enough, I don't do that well with horror now, I tend to deliberately avoid it. I like a good psychological thriller though.

I had all the books lined up on my window sill. Loved the Accident but I think my favourite was Remember Me. The sequels to that weren't so good though

TheChippendenSpook · 26/01/2020 10:43

They were fantastic! I loved Mother's helper and The Hitchhiker. Funny house was good too and the babysitter ones (I think there were two, possibly three) were scary. I wish you could still buy them new.

Loogabarooga · 26/01/2020 11:00

I was obsessed with Point Horror too. I would read each one in less than a day. My favourite was The Lifeguard which I read over and over again. I also loved Chain Letter (I think it was called) by Christopher Pike.

GorgeousLadyofWrestling · 26/01/2020 11:04

I want to re read all of them now. Yes to Perfume, The Accident, the one with girlfriend injecting air bubbles into her boyfriend, and also - The Girlfriend, The Boyfriend, Trick or Treat and April Fool’s Day!

Christopher Pike’s seemed a touch older and were always quite sad - always had a bittersweet element, a dead boyfriend or girlfriend that can’t come back and the people left behind struggling with it - that sort of thing.

beckywiththeshithair21 · 26/01/2020 11:05

Omg I loved these but they really did used to scare me senseless!
