No my house is really warm. Terrible for the environment as I have my heating set to 25 if I'm working from home or in the evening. I just can't sleep in a warm bedroom I get a headache like a PP and I feel hungover so bedroom top window open and heating down low for the night.

pasanda · 25/01/2020 22:41

Timemarches.....me neither!! Smile

CoolcoolcoolcoolcoolNoDoubt · 25/01/2020 22:42

I have windows open every day, at the weekends when I’m in I open all of them, bedroom ones open all the time. Can’t imagine not airing out the house 😕

percheron67 · 25/01/2020 22:44

Open all bedroom windows for about an hour in the morning. NEVER go out and leave them though. Too frightened of burglars.

BeardedMum · 25/01/2020 22:45

Every day and never put the heating on unless it’s really cold. So far I have not put the heating on at all. I don’t like warm houses.

NationMcKinley · 25/01/2020 22:47

Everyday! Even if it’s snowing. It might only be for 10 minutes but I’ll always open the patio doors and the bathroom and bedrooms windows as wide as they go. Hate that stuffy, musty feeling.

TigerOnATrain · 25/01/2020 22:48

Every day. I have a window open (1-2" or so) or on vent, in every room. I close them downstairs when I go out. But do keep them on vent.

Very bad for your house - AND your health - to keep them closed all the times

anon2000000000 · 25/01/2020 22:49

I open the back doors and crack the windows.

Pipandmum · 25/01/2020 22:50

My house is 150 year old and pretty drafty (despite spend a fortune getting double glazed wood sash windows). I have dogs so the kitchen door is open alot. My son has just left his window open but I've shut his door so not all the heat is going out.

Treci · 25/01/2020 22:59

Rarely, in winter, about ten minutes once a week as the wind just slams them shut or its pissing down and don't want wet windowsills/walls and in summer a bit more often apart from on days where there's lots of midges about.

ClientListQueen · 25/01/2020 23:02

Every day
Bedroom window is set on the latch year round, window vents all open and the living room window open for the cat to jump in and out repeatedly HmmGrin

Lipperfromchipper · 25/01/2020 23:03

In fact this post has made me remember that our bedroom window doesn’t even open, our en-suite window does but not the one in the bedroom as it’s a floor to ceiling picture window.

Parker231 · 25/01/2020 23:09

Rarely - we’re out at work all day and we never leave any windows open whilst we’re out. House smells good. No damp.

SaintEyning · 25/01/2020 23:15

All the time. All vents open on all windows and usually my room (2nd floor) has all windows open a cm all day and night as it’s too stuffy otherwise. Middle floor rooms have one window locked on the latch most of the time and the window above the litter tray downstairs also locked on the latch. Heating rarely on as we are in the SE in a very well insulated new build.

whattodo2019 · 25/01/2020 23:30

All the bedroom windows are open a little virtually all the time. Downstairs is aired at the weekends when we are home

AnybodyWantAChip · 25/01/2020 23:31

Never thought 'I must air the house'. Not once. Had no idea this was a thing.

Equanimitas · 25/01/2020 23:36

We open the windows if it's hot. Full stop. The house is very adequately ventilated without doing any more than that.

RainbowMum11 · 25/01/2020 23:42

Have the valve things open on all the windows, but don't have much heating so need to keep all warmth as much as possible! Open the front door (most!) days though

lilgreen · 25/01/2020 23:45

Every morning in bedroom for an hour (small window) and kitchen and living room daily for a shorter time. Bathroom after every shower.

PickAChew · 25/01/2020 23:47

Most weekdays, unless it's very windy or frosty. I've hot dh on board with airing the bathroom on a weekend, which helps.

PickAChew · 25/01/2020 23:49

I've just shut the air vents in the dining/garden room, mind, as the cobwebs are out of control. Dozens of tiny spiders.

AnnaFiveTowns · 25/01/2020 23:50

Bedroom window is always open whatever the weather. I open the other bedrooms a fraction in the mornings. Don't open the downstairs windows unless I'm frying; but the dog is in and out all day so I don't feel that the house gets musty.

Fizzypoo · 25/01/2020 23:53

I have read before that the chemicals used to to treat sofas, mattresses and carpets (to make them flame retardant) are quite toxic and airing your home reduces the toxins that we breath in from that.

AmelieTaylor · 26/01/2020 00:12

Every day.

Top (wide narrow) bedroom windows are always open (only closed when we go away) and other windows in the master bedroom always open at night & all day if we are at home.

Back door open all day once the worst of winter is over - only closed when we go to bed.

Lounge & kitchen windows are opened daily - for a short while in winter, all day from spring

My Great Aunt think it looks ‘messy & common’ to have your windows open all the time 🤣

I think all my neighbours have nailed theirs closed, even in the height of summer not many are ever open.

Mummyoflittledragon · 26/01/2020 00:14

Air quality inside houses is a lot worse than outside. To counteract this, I air my house most days as I sometimes forget. Bedroom window open a couple of hours for example.
