What do you reckon? I'm not knocking these names by the way!

I did think Humphrey until I met a little Humphrey at a play group a few years ago.

Lots of these names will come back - people will name their kids after their grandparents and they will come round again. I know teens/young people with the following names:

Joyce, Kevin, Philip, Mark, Gordon, Colin, Ruth, Faith, Alan, Jennifer, Maurice all of which have been mentioned on this thread!

Apart from Adolf and Gary I can see any name having a revival.

I know a teenage Hector and a twenty-something Dinah. There was quite a fashion for Hector and names like Ivo and Inigo among the posh some years ago.

I can absolutely see Gary having a revival.

Once the grandchildren or great grandchildren of all the current Gary’s start thinking about baby names, the name Gary will be old enough to start looking fresh and edgy again. And boom! Lots more baby Gary’s!

Agree that Gary may well come back! I can't see any reason why not (well, there was Gary Glitter, but it wasn't his actual name). Vera could very likely come back - I mean, if Arthur and Amelia could come back, why not Vera? And it has a meaning ('truth') that many people would like.
