I would never call a baby this but Dwayne just makes me think of Dwayne Johnson - The Rock which will never be a bad thing for me.

Ralph - reminds me of that Judy Blume book...

skippy67 · 20/01/2020 17:44

I know a 3 month old Ralph. His parents are in their late twenties.

SunshineDays2019 · 20/01/2020 18:23

I must admit, I quite like Ralph

Ralph is actually in the top 100 baby names in England and Wales. It came in at number 88 in 2018. (2019 statistics aren’t available yet)

2 Percies in my ds class. Met a baby David, what first sounded weird as I think of Daves as middle aged but now like it. Paul and Pauline really really popular (top 10) in my home country atm.

BreconBeBuggered · 22/01/2020 16:11

How about Nancy and Joyce? Dinah seems to me to be unresurrected old lady too, but perhaps it's been revived in some circles.

cologne4711 · 22/01/2020 16:43

At my primary school there was a Catherine, Sarah, Linda, Tracey x 2, Karen x 2, Caroline, Melanie, Helen. Amanda/Mandy, Lisa among others.

I can't remember the boys as much but there were Andrew, Nicholas, Paul x 2, Mark and Marc, Thomas among others.

At secondary I was at an all girls' school and there was Anna, Angela, Amanda, Maria, Nikki/Nicola/Nicole, Kathy/Kathryn, Donna, Susan, Sarah, Joanne/Jo-Anne, Christy, Claire/Clare, Kirsty, Sharon.

There was a David at nursery with one of my DC a few years ago. I was surprised to discover that it’s actually still in the top 50 boys names, I’d thought it was way less popular than that.

It’s definitely a name that I think of as more middle aged, I’ve met a ridiculous number of David’s and Dave’s that are around my age or a bit older.

cms1972 · 23/01/2020 11:24

I think ALL the ghastly current late-middle-aged/elderly names, ie. Leslie, Terence, Brian / Doreen, Sheila, Janet, that were handed out in the 30s-40s, all these names are going to make a comeback in a generation's time.

Well I think they will!

Because look how all those 'elderly' names like Ivy, Stan & Mabel suddenly became popular baby names in the 1980s! & I think history will repeat itself.

Urkiddingright · 23/01/2020 11:32

Percy is lovely as is Arthur and they have already definitely made a comeback.

I can’t imagine 60s/70s names such as Barry, Trevor, Bernard, Joanne, Janet, Janice, Janine, Phillip, Paul, John, Mark etc making a comeback but they will do, names always do.

There’s a Travis and Elspeth in my DC’s school.

SunshineDays2019 · 23/01/2020 12:36
